Deranged liver enzymes however, do not always necessarily imply an underlying liver pathology. The standard liver enzymes measured include alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), gamma-glutamyl-transpeptidase (GGT) and alanine phosphatase (ALP). These enzymes, especially ALT and AST, can be released by other organs in the body.
