Bis L-alanine Triethanol amine (BLATEA) salt was synthesized by solution method and it was subjected to solubility studies. Using the solubility data, the saturated solution of the synthesized salt was prepared and single crystals of Bis L-alanine Triethanol amine (BLATEA) were grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation technique. X-ray diffraction (XRD) study was carried out to confirm the crystal structure. FTIR study reveals the functional groups of the sample. UV-Visible transmittance and absorption spectra were recorded for the sample to analyze the transparency of the grown crystal. Vickers micro hardness values were measured for the sample and from the microhardness study it is observed that BLATEA crystal is a soft material. SHG generation study was carried out to confirm the NLO activity of grown sample and also BLATEA crystal has been analyzed with dielectric 展开更多

Solubility studies of Diammonium Hydrogen Phosphate(DAHP) in de-ionized water were performed at various temperatures in the range 30-50 °C. Single crystals of DAHP were grown from aqueous solutions by slow evaporation technique. Structural characterization of the grown crystals has been carried out by powder and single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD) methods. DAHP crystals crystallize in monoclinic structure with the space group P21/c. Second harmonic generation (SHG) for the material of this work was confirmed using Nd: YAG laser. The UV-Visible spectrum show that the grown crystals have wide optical transparency in the entire visible region. The dielectric measurements were made for grown DAHP crystal at the frequencies of 100 Hz and 1 KHz and in the temperature range 30-150 °C. Vickers microhardness value of DAHP crystal is found to increase with increase in load. Value of density of the grown DAHP crystal has been measured and it is well matched with the data of XRD studies. 展开更多

An organic material, namely, ethyl p-dimethylamino benzoate was crystallized for the first time by solution growth technique using pure and mixed solvents. Growth kinetics and morphology changes with solvents were investigated based on solute –solvent interactions of pure and mixed solvents. An appropriate mixed solvent for high quality crystals with well-defined morphology is reported. The absence of solvent molecules and the presence of various functional groups of the grown sample were qualitatively confirmed by FTIR spectroscopic studies. Thermal properties of the grown sample were analyzed by TG and DTA analysis. Mechanical properties of the EDMAB crystal were investigated by micro hardness studies. Moreover, the grown crystal shows high transparency in the visible and near IR regions. The material shows relatively high SHG efficiency than that of KDP. 展开更多

Transparent, colourless crystals of size upto 11 × 9 × 4 mm3 were obtained. Formation of the new crystal has been confirmed by single crystal XRD and FTIR spectra. The grown crystals have been subjected to powder X-ray diffraction studies to identify the crystalline nature. Single crystal X-ray diffractometer was utilized to measure unit cell parameters and to confirm the crystal structure. BAO belongs to monoclinic system with lattice parameters a = 22.335 ?, b = 5.697 ?, c = 13.993 ?, α = 90?, β = 115.37?, γ = 90?, and volume of the unit cell, V = 1609 ?3. The functional groups are confirmed by FTIR vibrational analysis. Optical transmission spectra revealed the optical properties of the grown crystal. Transmission spectrum reveals that the crystal has low UV cut-off of 205 nm and has a good transmittance in the entire visible region enabling its use in optical applications. There is no absorption in the entire visible region. Mechanical strength of the grown material is tested by hardness studies. The value of hardness increases when the applied load is increased. 展开更多
