To the Editor:Metabolic syndrome(MetS),defined as a pathologic condition characterized by obesity,hypertension,hyperlipidemia,and insulin resistance,could increase the risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and cardiov...To the Editor:Metabolic syndrome(MetS),defined as a pathologic condition characterized by obesity,hypertension,hyperlipidemia,and insulin resistance,could increase the risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and cardiovascular disease.[1]The pathogenesis of MetS is complex,involving various factors such as genetics,gut microbes,diet,and lifestyle.It has been recognized as one of the major threats to human health.Animal studies have described that probiotics,including Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium,may play significant roles in modulating the host’s metabolic abnormalities by shaping gut microbes and increasing the production of signal molecules,such as short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs).展开更多
