The metro is the most efficient and convenient public transport system in modern cities. For urban core areas in China, in which the metro was built later, there was more consideration for meeting the traffic needs of cities. However, there are few studies of collaborative planning for metro stations and their surrounding space. Thus, there is an urgent need to conduct research on collaborative planning for metro stations and their surrounding commercial space in urban core areas. Unlike conventional methods of integrated design of stations and cities, this paper, based on the theory of place spirit, took Chunxi Road Metro Station in Chengdu and its surrounding commercial space for example. It explored the pattern and characteristics of the place in the commercial space around the metro station, analyzed the strategies of cultural and commercial integration, as well as architecture, street, landscape and other aspects of the design method in the space, and explored the strategies of place-making and infiltration, providing a reference point for the development and place-making of the commercial space around metro stations in urban core areas. 展开更多

Widi the rapid development of urban metro and urban economy, the commercial space near tiie subway station has become the focus of urban planning and urban spatial development, and commercial self-oiganization pkys an important role in the development of commercial operations, commercial structures, and commercial scales, so how to make effective use of the inherent laws of the commercial space evolution, and further guide the rational development of community businesses needs more attention and research. This paper takes Chengdu Wannianchang Subway Station as an example to study the evolution stage, influencing factors, evolution characteristics and laws of the neatby commercial space. Moreover, suggestions were put forward such as coordinating competition and collaboration, optimizing space design and management, co-directional self-organization and heter-oiganizations, in order to provide a new reference for the healthy and ordedy development of the neighboring commefdal space near the subway stations of community type. 展开更多

From 1999, with the rapid expansion of enrollment scale, colleges have experienced fast development and construction of new campuses. However, the urgency of the demand for campus space at that time led to the shortcomings of paying more attention to speed than connotation during the construction of the new campus. Even now the evaluation of new campuses which have been used for nearly twenty years and whether the space of new campuses has played its due role will affect the display of the heritage and temperament of colleges. This paper uses the typical spatial cognitive concept—spatial image to analyse the elements of spatial images on campuses, summarizes the perceptions of teachers and students towards the space of four new campuses in Chengdu through questionnaire survey and analysis, puts forward the principles of campus space design and the strategies of classification design, and intends to take spatial images as the research cut-in point to provide new ideas and suggestions for the design and improvement of campus space from the perspective of users. 展开更多

Spatial Structure Adjustment Strategies of the Coal Resource-Based Cities during the Mature Period: A Case Study of Pingdingshan

Coal cities are the main part of the resource-based cities in China, and the benign development of coal cities' spatial structure has a direct impact on these cities' future economic and social development, as well as the urban residents' welfare. Land use fragmentation is the most typical morphological characteristic of the coal city's spatial structure development. In this paper, Pingdingshan City of Henan Province in China is taken as an example. Through empirical analysis, the urban spatial structure development processes of a typical coal resource-based city in its mature period are illustrated, and the formation reasons and potential mechanism behind coal city land use fragmentation are explored, and the measurement method of land use fragmentation degree of the coal city is put forward. On the above basis, the appropriate adjustment strategies and methods aimed at the coal city spatial structure are found out and given. This study is a good guideline and reference for the spatial structure planning and land use planning of the coal city during the mature and declining period, which is of great help to the sustainable development and industrial structure transformation of the coal city. It also has certain reference significance for the coal city in the growth period. 展开更多
