BACKGROUND Regional lymph node metastasis in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is not uncommon, and is often under-or misdiagnosed. Regional lymph node metastasis is associated with a negative prognosis in patients with HCC, and surgical resection of lymph node metastasis is considered feasible and efficacious in improving the survival and prognosis. It is critical to characterize lymph node preoperatively. There is currently no consensus regarding the optimal method for the assessment of regional lymph nodes in patients with HCC.AIM To evaluate the diagnostic value of single source dual energy computed tomography(CT) in regional lymph node assessment for HCC patients.METHODS Forty-three patients with pathologically confirmed HCC who underwent partial hepatectomy with lymphadenectomy were retrospectively enrolled. All patients underwent dual-energy CT preoperatively. Regional lymph nodes(n = 156) were divided into either a metastatic(group P, n = 52) or a non-metastasis group(group N, n = 104), and further, according to pathology, divided into an active hepatitis(group P1, n = 34; group N1, n = 73) and a non-active hepatitis group(group P2, n = 18; group N2, n = 31). The maximal short axis diameter(MSAD),iodine concentration(IC), normalized IC(NIC), and the slope of the spectralcurve(λ_(HU)) of each group in the arterial phase(AP), portal phase(PP), and delayed phase(DP) were analyzed.RESULTS Analysis of the MSAD, IC, NIC, and λ_(HU) showed statistical differences between groups P and N(P < 0.05) during all three phases. To distinguish benign from metastatic lymph nodes, the diagnostic efficacy of IC, NIC, and λ_(HU) in the PP was the best among the three phases(AP, PP, and DP), with a sensitivity up to 81.9%,83.9%, and 81.8%, and a specificity up to 82.4%, 84.1% and 84.1%, respectively.The diagnostic value of combined analyses of MSAD with IC, NIC, or λ_(HU) in the PP was superior to the dual energy CT parameters alone, with a sensitivity up to84.5%, 86.9%, and 86.2%, and a specificity up to 83.0%, 93.6% and 89.8%,respectively. Between groups P1 and P2 and groups N1 and N2, only IC, NIC,and λ_(HU) between groups N1 and N2 in the PP had a statistically significant difference(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION Dual-energy CT contributes beneficially to regional lymph node assessment in HCC patients. Combination of MSAD with IC, NIC, or λ_(HU) values in the PP is superior to using any single parameter alone. Active hepatitis does not deteriorate the capabilities for characterization of metastatic lymph nodes. 展开更多

Cr^(3+)-activated near-infrared(NIR)phosphors are key for NIR phosphor-converted light emitting diodes(NIR pc-LED).While,the site occupancy of Cr^(3+)is one of the debates that have plagued researchers.Herein,Y2Mg2Al2-Si_(2)O1_(2)(YMAS)with multiple cationic sites is chosen as host of Cr^(3+)to synthesize YMAS:xCr^(3+)phosphors.In YMAS,Cr^(3+)ions occupy simultaneously Al/SiO4 tetrahedral,Mg/AlO6 octahedral,and Y/MgO8 dodecahedral sites which form three luminescent centers named as Cr1,Cr2,and Cr3,respectively.Cr1 and Cr2 relate to an intermediate crystal field,with transitions of^(2)E→^(4)A_(2)and^(4)T_(2)→^(4)A_(2)occurring simultaneously.As Cr^(3+)concentration increases,the^(4)T_(2)→^(4)A_(2)transition becomes more pronounced in Cr1 and Cr2,resulting in a red-shift and broadband emission.Cr3 consistently behaves a weak crystal field and exhibits the broad and long-wavelength emission.Wide-range NIR emission centering at 745 nm is realized in YMAS:0.03Cr^(3+)phosphor.This phosphor has high internal quantum efficiency(IQE?86%)and satisfying luminescence thermal stability(I423 K?70.2%).Using this phosphor,NIR pc-LEDs with 56.6 mW@320 mA optical output power is packaged and applied.Present study not only demonstrates the Cr^(3+)multi-site occupancy in a certain oxide but also provides a reliable approach via choosing a host with diverse cationic sites and local environments for Cr^(3+)to achieve broadband NIR phosphors. 展开更多

Antibody targeted delivery is an effective strategy to improve the diagnostic imaging outcome of nanoscale imaging agents in the focal areas. Dual targeting micelles encapsulating superparamagnetic iron oxide were prepared from the amphiphilic block copolymer poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(e-caprolactone) (PEG-b-PCL) with different targeting ligands cRGD and scFv-ErbB single chain antibody conjugated to the distal ends of PEG block. The breast cancer animal model was established by subcutaneous injecting the BT474 cells into the BALB/c-nu female nude mice and then employed to assess the potential of the dual ligand targeted magnetic micelles as a novel MRI contrast agent on a 1.5 T clinical MR/scanner. The T2 signal intensity of the tumor in animals receiving the dual ligand targeted magnetic micelles via tail vein decreased more significantly than the single ligand targeted and nontargeted magnetic micelles. These results indicate that the dual ligand targeted magnetic micelles, cRGD/scFv-ErbB-PEG-PCL-SPION, have great potential to act as a new type of effective nanoscale MRI contrast agent for early diagnosis of breast cancer. 展开更多
