In this work,the calculation was done by using the energy return on investment(EROI) method. The results showed that the EROIstnd(i.e., standard EROI) of China’s oil and gas extraction decreased from approximately 17.3:1 in 1986 to 8.4:1 in 2003, but it increased to 12.2:1 in 2013. From a company-level perspective, the EROIstnddiffered for different companies and was in the range of(8–12):1. The EROI2,d(EROI considering energy outputs after processed and direct energy inputs) for different companies was in the range of(3–7):1. The EROI of imported oil(EROIIO)declined from 14.8:1 in 1998 to approximately 4.8:1 in 2014, and the EROI of imported natural gas(EROIING)declined from 16.7:1 in 2009 to 8.6:1 in 2014. In 2015, the EROIIO and EROIING showed a slight increase due to decreasing import prices. In general, this paper suggests that from a net energy perspective, it has become more difficult for China to obtain oil and gas from both domestic production and imports. China is experiencing an EROI decline, which demonstrates the risk in the use of unsustainable fossil resources.展开更多
Numerical modeling of seepage-induced consolidation process usually encounters significant uncertainty in the properties of geotechnical materials.Assessing the effect of uncertain parameters on the performance variab...Numerical modeling of seepage-induced consolidation process usually encounters significant uncertainty in the properties of geotechnical materials.Assessing the effect of uncertain parameters on the performance variability of the seepage consolidation model is of critical importance to the simulation and tests of this process.To this end,the uncertainty and sensitivity analyses are performed on a seepage consolidation model in a fractured porous medium using the Bayesian sparse polynomial chaos expansion(SPCE)method.Five uncertain parameters including Young’s modulus,Poisson’s ratio,and the permeability of the porous matrix,the permeability within the fracture,and Biot’s constant are studied.Bayesian SPCE models for displacement,flow velocity magnitude,and fluid pressure at several reference points are constructed to represent the input-output relationship of the numerical model.Based on these SPCE models,the total and first-order Sobol’indices are computed to quantify the contribution of each uncertain input parameter to the uncertainty of model responses.The results show that at different locations of the porous domain,the uncertain parameters show different effects on the output quantities.At the beginning of the seepage consolidation process,the hydraulic parameters make major contributions to the uncertainty of the model responses.As the process progresses,the effect of hydraulic parameters decreases and is gradually surpassed by the mechanical parameters.This work demonstrates the feasibility to apply Bayesian SPCE approach to the uncertainty and sensitivity analyses of seepage-induced consolidation problems and provides guidelines to the numerical modelling and experimental testing of such problems.展开更多

Objective:To evaluate the current approaches for multimodality therapy for stage ⅠB cervical cancer.Methods:The relevant literature has served as a source for identified high or intermediate risks and management of s...Objective:To evaluate the current approaches for multimodality therapy for stage ⅠB cervical cancer.Methods:The relevant literature has served as a source for identified high or intermediate risks and management of stage ⅠB cervical cancer.Result:The high risks include pelvic lymph node metastasis(PLNM),positive resection margin(PRM),and the involvement of parametrium(IPM).The intermediate risks include deep stromal invasion(DSI),bulky tumor size(BTS),lymphovascular space invasion(LVSI).Adeno-carcinomatous histotype is the new risk feature relevant to poor prognoses.Both radical hysterectomy plus bilateral pelvic lymph node dissection(PLND) and radical radiotherapy have proven to be equally effective.Surgery is more performed for stage ⅠB1 disease;radiotherapy or chemoradiotherapy is preferable for stage ⅠB2 disease.For patients with one high risk or two of intermediate risks,radical hysterectomy plus PLND followed by concurrent chemoradiotherapy can improve overall survival(OS) and disease-free survival(DFS).Conclusion:The management should be individualized for stage ⅠB cervical cancer.The optimized multidisciplinary therapy can benefit patients with the best cure and minimum morbidity and complications.展开更多

A visible light-active photoelectrocatalyst,ZnFe-layered double oxide(LDO)/cobalt(II,III)oxide(Co_(3)O_(4))composites were obtained by calcining the Co loaded ZnFe-layered double hydroxide(LDH)prepared by a hydrotherm...A visible light-active photoelectrocatalyst,ZnFe-layered double oxide(LDO)/cobalt(II,III)oxide(Co_(3)O_(4))composites were obtained by calcining the Co loaded ZnFe-layered double hydroxide(LDH)prepared by a hydrothermal and microwave hydrothermal method.The morphological studies revealed that the ZnFe-LDO/Co_(3)O_(4) composites exhibited a flower-like structure comprising Co_(3)O_(4) nanowires and ZnFe-LDO nanosheets.Further,when the mass ratio of Co(NO_(3))_(2)·6H_(2)O/LDH was 1:1.8 and the calcination temperature was 550℃,the ZnFe-LDO/Co_(3)O_(4) composite exhibited 93.3%degradation efficiency for methylene blue(MB)at the applied voltage of 1.0 V under visible light after 3 h.Furthermore,the Mott-Schottky model experiments showed that the formation of a p-n heterojunction between ZnFe-LDO and Co_(3)O_(4) could effectively inhibit the recombination of electrons and holes in the photoelectrocatalytic process.Meanwhile,free radical scavenging experiments showed that the active radicals of⋅OH played an important role in the degradation of MB.Therefore,the photoelectrocatalytic effect of ZnFe-LDO/Co_(3)O_(4) provides a simple and effective strategy for the removal of organic pollutants.展开更多
Electrocatalytic oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF)to 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid(FDCA),a sustainable strategy to produce bio-based plastic monomer,is always conducted in a high-concentration alkaline solution(1...Electrocatalytic oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF)to 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid(FDCA),a sustainable strategy to produce bio-based plastic monomer,is always conducted in a high-concentration alkaline solution(1.0 mol L^(-1)KOH)for high activity.However,such high concentration of alkali poses challenges including HMF degradation and high operation costs associated with product separation.Herein,we report a single-atom-ruthenium supported on Co3O4(Ru1-Co3O4)as a catalyst that works efficiently in a low-concentration alkaline electrolyte(0.1 mol L^(-1)KOH),exhibiting a low potential of 1.191 V versus a reversible hydrogen electrode to achieve 10 m A cm^(-2)in 0.1 mol L^(-1)KOH,which outperforms previous catalysts.Electrochemical studies demonstrate that single-atom-Ru significantly enhances hydroxyl(OH-)adsorption with insufficient OH-supply,thus improving HMF oxidation.To showcase the potential of Ru1-Co3O4catalyst,we demonstrate its high efficiency in a flow reactor under industrially relevant conditions.Eventually,techno-economic analysis shows that substitution of the conventional1.0 mol L^(-1)KOH with 0.1 mol L^(-1)KOH electrolyte may significantly reduce the minimum selling price of FDCA by 21.0%.This work demonstrates an efficient catalyst design for electrooxidation of biomass working without using strong alkaline electrolyte that may contribute to more economic biomass electro-valorization.展开更多

Two-dimensional(2D)materials are promising candidates for uses in next-generation electronic and optoelectronic devices.However,only a few high-quality 2D materials have been mechanically exfoliated to date.One of the...Two-dimensional(2D)materials are promising candidates for uses in next-generation electronic and optoelectronic devices.However,only a few high-quality 2D materials have been mechanically exfoliated to date.One of the critical issues is that the exfoliability of 2D materials from their bulk precursors is unknown.To assess the exfoliability of potential 2D materials from their bulk counterparts,we derived an elasticity-based-exfoliability measure based on an exfoliation mechanics model.The proposed measure has a clear physical meaning and is universally applicable to all material systems.We used this measure to calculate the exfoliability of 10,812 crystals having a first-principles calculated elastic tensor.By setting the threshold values for easy and potential exfoliation based on already-exfoliated materials,we predicted 58 easily exfoliable bulk crystals and 90 potentially exfoliable bulk crystals for 2D materials.As evidence,a topology-based algorithm indicates that there is no interlayer bondingtopology for 93%predicted exfoliable bulk crystals,and the analysis on packing ratios shows that 99%predicted exfoliable bulk crystals exhibit a relatively low packing ratio value.Moreover,literature survey shows that 34 predicted exfoliable bulk crystals have been experimentally exfoliated into 2D materials.In addition,the characteristics of these predicted 2D materials were discussed for practical use of such materials.展开更多
