By comparing the measured result with the simulated values, it is found that they fit close to each other, which indicates this FE model is effective. Based on this model, the effects of roll gap (t) and roll radius (R) on solidification were simulated. The simulated results give the relationship between t or R and the position of the freezing point. The larger the t is and the smaller the R is, the closer the position of the freezing point is to the exit.展开更多

Meanwhile, the effective factors such as the volume fraction of martensite and the yield stress ratio between martensite and ferrite phases on the stress-strain curves of the dual-phase steel were simulated, too. The simulated results indicate that for the low Si-Mn-Nb dual-phase steel, the maximum stress occurs in the martensite region, while the maximum strain occurs in the ferrite one.The effect of the volume fraction of martensite(fm) and the yield stress ratio on the stress-strain curve of the dual-phase steel is small in the elastic part, while it is obvious in the plastic part.In the plastic part of this curve, the strain decreases with the increase of f_M,while it decreases with the decrease of the yield stress ratio.展开更多

Formulating the Anand model in ANSYS software, we then simulated the stress field in the molten pool of type 304 stainless steel during the twin-roll casting process. Parameters affecting the stress distribution in the molten pool were analyzed in detail and optimized. After twin-roll casting, a large number of transgranular and intergranular cracks resided on the surface of the thin steel strip, and followed a tortuous path. In the molten pool, stress was enhanced at the exit and at the roller contact positions. The stress at the exit decreased with increasing casting speed and pouring temperature. To ensure high quality of the fabricated strips, the casting speed and pouring temperature should be controlled above 0.7 m/s and 1520℃, respectively.展开更多

The steel was quenched at 1150℃ and tempered at 520℃. The phase structures of the steel were determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), and the hardness of specimens was measured. The volume fraction of carbides was counted by Image-Pro Plus software. The typical microstructures were observed by field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM). Stable and meta-stable carbides were deduced by removing the existing phases one by one in the Fe-C equilibrium calculation. It is found that the precipitated carbides are bulk-like MC, long stripe-like M2C, fishbone-like M6C, and daisy-like M7C3 during the tempering process. The stable carbides are MC and M6C, but the meta-stable ones are M2C, M7C3, and M3C.展开更多

The apparent activation energy of deformation and the hot deformation equation of the steel in the ferritic range were determined by means of single hot compression tests. The hot-rolled strip of 3 mm in thickness rolled in the ferritic range was obtained using a laboratory hot rolling mill. The mechanical properties show that the values of yield strength and ultimate tensile strength are 230 and 330 MPa, respectively, and the elongation is 33%. The average r-value is 1.1. Large polygonal ferrite recrystallization grains with about 40 grn in size and the strong { 111 } recrystallization texture can be obtained in the hot-rolled strip.展开更多

The results show that Er addition in the flux can eliminate the MgO inclusions and improve the tensile properties and corrosion resistance of the alloy. Using chloride flux mixed with 8.0 wt% Er, σb and δ of the as-cast AZ80 D magnesium alloy can be improved from 150 MPa and 2.1 % to the maximum value of 230 MPa and 4.8 %, respectively. Meanwhile, the corrosion rate decreases from 1.10 to 0.12 mg·(cm^2·d)^-1 in 5 wt% NaCl solution. However, with increasing Er content in chloride flux further, φ-(Al7ErMn5) and τ-(Al66.7Mg23.3Er10) phase are formed, and the morphology of γ-(Mg17Al12) phase is modified. The coarse φ-(Al7ErMn5)phase along dendrite boundaries decreases cohesion force between dendrites, which results in the worse of tensile properties.展开更多

The results show that the La-SSS a-Fe supercell is more stable than La-OISS one. The resistance to volume change, reversible deformation and stiffness of La-OISS a-Fe supercell are stronger than those of La-SSS one. Moreover, the degrees of anisotropy and ionization in La-SSS a-Fe supercell are both stronger than those in La-OISS one. The bonding strength between La atom and Fe atom in La-SSS a-Fe supercell is larger than that in La-OISS one.展开更多
