The pathol...A 40-year-old man with haemoptysis and serious spontaneous hemothorax. Chest computed tomography showed multiple flakes in his lungs, nodules shadow, right pleural effusion with right pulmonary atelectasis. The pathological specimens obtained by thoracic surgery revealed pulmonary angiosarcoma. Primary pulmonary angiosarcoma is a rare malignant tumor and is lack of typical clinical symptoms and imaging features, diagnosis mainly depend on histopathologic features and immunohistochemical analysis. There is no effective therapy for pulmonary vascular sarcoma. Integrated treatment can may extend the survival time of patients.展开更多
Increasing brown and beige fat thermogenesis have an anti-obesity effect and thus great metabolic benefits.However,the molecular mechanisms regulating brown and beige fat thermogenesis remain to be further elucidated....Increasing brown and beige fat thermogenesis have an anti-obesity effect and thus great metabolic benefits.However,the molecular mechanisms regulating brown and beige fat thermogenesis remain to be further elucidated.We recently found that fat-specific knockout of Rheb promoted beige fat thermogenesis.In the current study,we show that Rheb has distinct effects on thermogenic gene expression in brown and beige fat.Fat-specific knockout of Rheb decreased protein kinase A(PKA)activity and thermogenic gene expression in brown adipose tissue of high-fat diet-fed mice.On the other hand,overexpression of Rheb activated PKA and increased uncoupling protein 1 expression in brown adipocytes.Mechanistically,Rheb overexpression in brown adipocytes increased Notch expression,leading to disassociation of the regulatory subunit from the catalytic subunit of PKA and subsequent PKA activation.Our study demonstrates that Rheb,by selectively modulating thermogenic gene expression in brown and beige adipose tissues,plays an important role in regulating energy homeostasis.展开更多

Here, we de...The highly conserved Notch signaling is precisely regulated at different steps in a series of developmental events. However, little is known about the regulation of Notch receptor at transcriptional level. Here, we demonstrate that dBrmsl is involved in regulating Notch signaling in Drosophila wing. We show that knockdown of dBrmsl by RNA interference (RNAi) in wing disc suppresses the expression of Notch signaling target genes wingless (wg), cut and Enhancer of split m8 [E(spl)m8]. Consistently, the levels of Wg and Cut are reduced in the dBrmsl mutant clones. Importantly, loss of dBrmsl leads to significant reduction of Notch proteins. Furthermore, depletion of dBrmsl results in apparent downregulation of Notch transcription in the wing disc. Moreover, we find that dBrmsl is functionally conserved with human Breast cancer metastasis suppressor 1 like (hBRMSIL) in the modulation of Notch signaling. Taken together, our data provide important insights into the biological function of dBrmsl in regulating Notch signaling.展开更多
This paper presents a method for solving the linear semi-implicit immersed boundary equations which avoids the severe time step restriction presented by explicit-time methods.The Lagrangian variables are eliminated vi...This paper presents a method for solving the linear semi-implicit immersed boundary equations which avoids the severe time step restriction presented by explicit-time methods.The Lagrangian variables are eliminated via a Schur complement to form a purely Eulerian saddle point system,which is preconditioned by a projection operator and then solved by a Krylov subspace method.From the viewpoint of projection methods,we derive an ideal preconditioner for the saddle point problem and compare the efficiency of a number of simpler preconditioners that approximate this perfect one.For low Reynolds number and high stiffness,one particular projection preconditioner yields an efficiency improvement of the explicit IB method by a factor around thirty.Substantial speed-ups over explicit-time method are achieved for Reynolds number below 100.This speedup increases as the Eulerian grid size and/or the Reynolds number are further reduced.展开更多
