Heterotopic pancreas is defined as pancreatic tissue found outside the usual anatomical location of the pancreas. It is often an incidental finding and can be found at different sites in the gastrointestinal tract. It may become clinically evident when complicated by pathological changes such as inflammation, bleeding, obstruction, and malignant transformation. We report an unusual case of a 25-year-old male patient with pain epigastrium caused by a polyp at the body of stomach along greater curvature revealed at endoscopy. Endoscopic biopsy was s/o inflammatory pathology. Wide excision of polyp was done and a histological diagnosis of heterotopic pancreas was established. The difficulty of making an accurate preoperative diagnosis is highlighted. 展开更多

New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase (NDM-1) has created a medical storm ever since it was first reported;as it is active on virtually all clinically used β-lactam antibiotics. NDM-1 rampancy worldwide is now considered a nightmare scenario, particularly due to its rapid dissemination. An underlying theme in the majority of recent studies is structural characterization as knowledge of the three-dimensional structure of NDM-1 shall help find connections between its structure and function. Moreover, structural details are even critical in order to reveal the resistance mecha- nism to β-lactam antibiotics. In this perspective, we review structural characteristics of NDM-1 that have been delineated since its first report. We anticipate that these structure-function connections made by its characterization shall further serve as future guidelines for elucidating pathways towards de novo design of functional inhibitors. 展开更多

Purpose-Feature selection is an important step for data pre-processing specially in the case of high dimensional data set.Performance of the data model is reduced if the model is trained with high dimensional data set,and it results in poor classification accuracy.Therefore,before training the model an important step to apply is the feature selection on the dataset to improve the performance and classification accuracy.Design/methodology/approach-A novel optimization approach that hybridizes binary particle swarm optimization(BPSO)and differential evolution(DE)for fine tuning of SVM classifier is presented.The name of the implemented classifier is given as DEPSOSVM.Findings-This approach is evaluated using 20 UCI benchmark text data classification data set.Further,the performance of the proposed technique is also evaluated on UCI benchmark image data set of cancer images.From the results,it can be observed that the proposed DEPSOSVMtechniques have significant improvement in performance over other algorithms in the literature for feature selection.The proposed technique shows better classification accuracy as well.Originality/value-The proposed approach is different from the previous work,as in all the previous work DE/(rand/1)mutation strategy is used whereas in this study DE/(rand/2)is used and the mutation strategy with BPSO is updated.Another difference is on the crossover approach in our case as we have used a novel approach of comparing best particle with sigmoid function.The core contribution of this paper is to hybridize DE with BPSO combined with SVM classifier(DEPSOSVM)to handle the feature selection problems. 展开更多
