Composite analyses were performed in this study to reveal the difference in spring precipitation over southern China during multiyear La Ni?a events during 1901 to 2015. It was found that there is significantly below-normal precipitation during the first boreal spring, but above-normal precipitation during the second year. The difference in spring precipitation over southern China is correlative to the variation in western North Pacific anomalous cyclone(WNPC), which can in turn be attributed to the different sea surface temperature anomaly(SSTA) over the Tropical Pacific. The remote forcing of negative SSTA in the equatorial central and eastern Pacific and the local air-sea interaction in the western North Pacific are the usual causes of WNPC formation and maintenance.SSTA in the first spring is stronger than those in the second spring. As a result, the intensity of WNPC in the first year is stronger, which is more likely to reduce the moisture in southern China by changing the moisture transport, leading to prolonged precipitation deficits over southern China. However, the tropical SSTA signals in the second year are too weak to induce the formation and maintenance of WNPC and the below-normal precipitation over southern China. Thus, the variation in tropical SSTA signals between two consecutive springs during multiyear La Ni?a events leads to obvious differences in the spatial pattern of precipitation anomaly in southern China by causing the different WNPC response. 展开更多

For a cyclone, it is possible to improve separation efficiency and reduce pressure drop by increasing the cyclone height. However, an exceeded height increase could result in a dramatical drop in separation efficiency. In this study, experimental and computational fluid dynamics simulation results exhibit that the introduction of an apex cone at the dust outlet could avoid the risk of separation efficiency drop but lead to a continuous reducing of the pressure drop. Generally, the optimal cyclone height should be closely related to the natural vortex length. While, when the vortex end contracts into the separation space in the cyclone with an exceeded height, severe back-mixing of particles always occurs, which will result in the decrease of separation efficiency. Herein, it is found that when an apex cone is installed at the dust outlet, the vortex end can be grasped by the cone so as to weaken the back-mixing of particles.Meanwhile, the introduction of this apex cone can enhance the secondary separation to capture the back-mixed particles again so as to protect the efficiency. In addition, it is found that the enhanced secondary separation could come from either the stagnant current of axial velocity in the center or the improved tangential velocity of inner vortex whereas the forcibly extending the length of vortex to exceed its natural length will not significantly increase efficiency. 展开更多

Pd-based nanocatalyst is a potential oxygen reduction oxidation(ORR)catalyst because of its high activity in alkaline medium and low cost.In this work,bimetallic Pd Au nanocatalysts are prepared by one-pot hydrothermal method using triblock pluronic copolymers,poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO19-PPO69-PEO19)(P123)as reducer and stabilizer,and heat-treatment method is applied to regulate catalyst structure and improve catalyst activity.The results show that the heat treatment can agglomerate the catalyst to a certain extent,but effectively improve the crystallinity and alloying degree of the catalyst.The ORR performance of the Pd Au nanocatalysts obtained under different heat treatment conditions is systematically investigated.Compared with commercial Pd black and Pd Au catalyst before heat treatment,the ORR performance of Au Pd nanocatalyst obtained after heat treatment for one hour at 500℃ has been enhanced.The Pd Au nanocatalysts after heat treatment also display enhanced anti-methanol toxicity ability in acidic medium. 展开更多

Water deficit is one of the major limiting factors in vegetation recovery and reconstruction in the semi-arid area of loess hilly regions. Leaf photosynthesis in Hippophae rhamnoides Linn., a common tree grown in this region, decreases under water stress, but the mechanism responsible is not clear. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of drought stress on photosynthesis and the relationship between photosynthetic variables and soil water contents to help us better understand the photophysiological characteristics of H. rhamnoides under water stress and guide cultivation in the loess hilly region. Here,gas exchange, chlorophyll fluorescence and antioxidant enzyme activity in leaves of 3-year-old saplings of H.rhamnoides grown in pots were tested under eight soil water conditions. When soil water content(RWC) was between 38.9 and 70.5 %, stomatal limitation was responsible for the reduced net photosynthetic rate(PN).When RWC was lower than 38.9 %, nonstomatal limitation was the main factor restricting PN. Moderate water stress improved the water use efficiency(WUE) of the leaf.Water stress significantly influenced fluorescence variables and the antioxidant enzyme system. When RWC was between 38.9 and 70.5 %, nonphotochemical quenching(NPQ) increased and then decreased, indicating that thermal energy dissipation was a significant photoprotection mechanism. Antioxidant enzymes were activated when RWC ranged from 48.3 to 70.5 %; under severe water stress(RWC / 38.9 %), the antioxidant enzyme system was damaged, the activity of the antioxidant enzymes declined, and membranes were damaged. In the semiarid loess hilly region, RWC between 58.6 and 70.5 % was the economic water threshold value that maintained higher WUE and PN, and the maximum soil water deficit level that could sustain H. rhamnoides was RWC of 38.9 %. 展开更多

In order to fully understand sugarcane production in Guangxi in 2013,the sample survey combined with data collection and field survey was carried out in sugarcane production areas in Nanning,Hechi,Liuzhou,Chongzuo,Baise and Laibin from May 28 to June 36 in2013. It was found that the sugarcane growing area in Guangxi in 2013 declined compared with that in 2012; the rate of emergence remained the same as previous year,and as for the plant number of plant crop and ratoon crop per hectare,there was a decline of 4000 and 2000 seedlings respectively compared with the figure in 2012; borer damage rate declined on the whole while the incidence of sugarcane smut increased.Due to the growth in the cost of planting,the growers were less enthusiastic for management. According to the findings,the fertilization and sugarcane field management should be accelerated; borer prevention work was also required,so as to reduce borer damage and dieback rate;the planting structure of varieties had to be adjusted and the cultivated area of " Guitang" as a fine sugarcane variety should also be enlarged;meanwhile other active measures needed to be taken to prevent and control the outburst of pest attack in local areas. 展开更多

[Objectives] Flow cytometry is widely used to identify plant chromosome ploidy because of its simplicity, rapidity and accuracy. Chromosome ploidy identification is an important part of sugarcane ploidy breeding and application research. It is particularly important to find out the best detection part for ploidy identification in sugarcane. [Methods] The cell suspensions of sugarcane stem tips and leaves were prepared by blade chopping method. The cell suspensions were detected by flow cytometry. The best position for ploidy identification was determined by comparing the cell suspension prepared from stem tips and cell suspension prepared from leaves. [Results] The results showed that the cell suspension dissociated from stem tips was more clear than that from leaf cell suspension;the proportion of non-adherent cells in the suspension prepared from stem tips was larger than that from the leaf cell suspension;the main peak of the stem tip cell suspension was single and the number of cells was more than that of the stem tip cell suspension by flow cytometry. Using the known ploidy ‘Badilar’ as the internal reference, the ploidy of cyathomi 87-16 was detected to be 8.37. [Conclusions] Sugarcane shoot tips are an ideal material for ploidy identification. Evapotranspiration Estimation and Influence on Water Change in the Weihe River Basin,China

As the largest sub-basin of the middle reaches of the Yellow River with an obvious decreasing trend in annual runoff in recent years,the Weihe River basin is a significant region with regard to the protection and improvement of the environment in West China.Evapotranspiration(ET)is the loss of water from the Earth’s surface to the atmosphere and plays an important role in the regional water cycle,especially when considering water resource shortages.In this study,through analyzing the grid precipitation data after interpolation from 39 meteorological stations in and around the Weihe River basin from 1981 to 2011,certain periods during 1987,1993,1999,2001,2002 and 2009 with similar precipitation characteristics had been chosen for estimating the ET in the Weihe River basin.To illustrate ET’s influence on the water budget,these estimations are calculated based on an improved Penman-Monteith equation as well as remote sensing data and meteorological data.The results show that:(1)the annual ET in the Weihe River basin ranged from 350mm to 400mm in 1987,1993,1999,2001,2002 and 2009,accounting for more than 70%of the corresponding annual precipitation.There is a definite increasing trend in different decades that is primarily distributed during the summer.(2)The spatial distribution patterns of the ET in the six years mentioned area unique set,and the years are roughly identical with more than 500mm in the middle and lower reaches of the Weihe River in the southeastern region and less than 400mm in upper reaches of the Jinghe River in the northwestern area.(3)At the single-point scale,the coefficient of determination(R2)is 0.618 compared to the eddy correlation measurements in 2009 at the Changwu site,showing good agreement between the estimated ET and the observed ET.At the basin scale,the model-estimated ET is slightly lower than the actual ET with regard to the surface water budget.Additionally,the estimated ET in 2001,2002 and 2009 is close to the MODIS ET product.(4)For similar precipitation conditions,the regional amount of water shows a decreasing tendency with increasing ET,which may result from the rise in NDVI and improvements in vegetation coverage caused by human activities.This research suggests the influence of ET on water change at the basin level,which can also explain the decreasing runoff and can provide necessary information for improved water resource management. 展开更多

Bilayer graphene provides a versatile platform for exploring a variety of intriguing phenomena and shows much promise for applications in electronics,optoelectronics,etc.Controlled growth of large-area bilayer graphene is therefore highly desired yet still suffers from a slow growth rate and poor layer uniformity.Meanwhile,graphene wrinkles,including folds and ripples,form during cooling due to the thermal contraction mismatch between graphene and the metal substrates,and have been far from suppressed or eliminated,especially in bilayer graphene,which would greatly degrade the extraordinary properties of graphene.Here we report the ultrafast growth of wafer-scale fold-free bilayer graphene by chemical vapor deposition.Through well-tuning the alloy thickness and strain regulation of the single-crystal CuNi(111)/sapphire,the full coverage of a 2-inch fold-free bilayer graphene wafer via mainly isothermal segregation has been achieved as fast as 30 s.The tensile-strained CuNi(111)film reduces the thermal contraction mismatch and suppresses the formation of graphene folds during cooling,which is directly observed through in situ optical microscopy.The ultraflat bilayer graphene exhibits wafer-scale uniformity in electrical performance and enhanced mechanical property comparable to the exfoliated ones.Our results offer a promising route for largescale production of bilayer graphene and enable its various applications. 展开更多

The maximum-efficiency inlet velocity(MEIV)is a ceiling of inlet gas velocity that defines separation efficiency during cyclone design and operation.Experiment and computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulation exhibited that an apex cone at the dust outlet can break the ceiling and improve the sepa-ration efficiency.The phenomenon is closely related to the effect of excessive high inlet gas velocity on the back-mixing escape of fine particles,which is the final result of back mixing,entrainment by the rapid upward airflow,and secondary separation of the inner vortex.In the center of the inner vortex,the airflow rotates slowly and moves rapidly upward.This elevator type of airflow delivers re-entrained particles to the vortex finder.A higher inlet gas velocity accelerates the elevator,causing more entrained particles to escape.This explains the decrease in efficiency at an excessively high inlet gas velocity.When an apex cone is installed at the dust outlet,the back-mixing is significantly weakened because the vortex core is bounded to the center of separator,while the transport effect of rapid upward airflow is weakened by the decrease in axial velocity in the center.Therefore,particle escape is weakened even at excessive high inlet gas velocities.Instead,the centrifugal effect is enhanced because of increased tangential velocity of the gas and particles.Consequently,the ceiling of inlet gas velocity is broken. 展开更多

In order to reveal the nature of deep crust fluids, the phase relations of NaCI-saturated solution at high temperatures and pressures in a hydrothermal diamond anvil cell (HDAC)are investigated. Salinity of the solutions observed is about 35%—50%. The temperatures for the observation range from 25 to 850℃ and the pressures from 1 atm to about 1 GPa. A supercritical single phase, liquid phase (L), vapor phase (V), solid phase (H), L + H, H + V + L and the near-critical phases L + V can be observed. A two-phase (L + V) immiscibility field for the NaCI solution has been discovered to lie in a wide range of temperatures and pressures:from 250( ± 3) to 721℃. Within this field there are two parts, where the upper high temperature part of the two-phase regions is very unstable in character. It is possible to observe a 'critical phenomenon'. In some of our experiments an 'explosion' almost constantly occurred at the interface between the liquid and vapor phases, making the interface obscure, and a 展开更多

A novel ion-imprinted polymer, lead ion-imprinted micro-beads with combination of two functional monomers, was synthesized using the W/O/W polymerization method. Two functional monomers, 1,12-dodecanediol-O,O’-diphenyl-phosphonic acid (DDDPA) and 4-vinylpyridine, were used to form a suitable construction with micro-pores fitting the template and recognition sites. The eflects of adsorbent dosage, solution pH and the competitive ions on the adsorption and separation eflciency of lead ions were investigated. The lead ion-imprinted micro-beads were eflcient for lead ions removal from aqueous solution in a broad pH range (4–9), when the adsorbent dosage was above 0.1 g/L. The adsorption process obeyed the pseudo second-order kinetics model and it only took half an hour to reach the equilibrium. The adsorption isotherm of lead ion was described by the Langmuir model (R2 0.99) with a maximum adsorption capacity of 116.9 mg/g. In the presence of competitive ions Co2+ and Cd2+, the lead ion-imprinted micro-beads showed a high selectivity for lead ions. The selectivity coeficient of Pb2+/Cd2+ and Pb2+/Co2+are 99.3 and 114.7, respectively. 展开更多

The dissociation constants of polyepoxysuccinic acid(PESA)were investigated in this study.Based on the potentiometric titration and the BEST program,the dissociation constants of PESA were determined.Considering the complexity of the dissociation of PESA in aqueous solution,several models were constructed to simulate the dissociation process of PESA.By comparison,the dissociation constants of PESA were obtained with model 4.The species distribution of PESA in aqueous solution as a function of pH was also presented according to the experimental and calculation results.It showed that the H_(2)L model with five basic structure units to describe the dissociation of PESA was reasonable,and the relevant constants had less error and better matching between the experimental and calculation data.The corresponding values of pK_(ai) were 4.68 and 4.92,respectively,for H2L at 35℃ with ionic strength of 0.1 mol/L. 展开更多

Gab2 plays an important role in FcεRI mediated signal events which lead to degranulation from mast cells. The present study was designed to investigate the effect of the synthetic Gab2 (scaffolding adapter Grb2-associated binder 2) siRNA on the antigen-induced activation of RBL-2H3 cells. A double stranded siRNA against Gab2- mRNA was synthesized and transfected into RBL-2H3 cells. After 6 h, cells were then sensitized with dinitrophenyl (DNP)-specific IgE overnight and challenged with dinitrophenyl-human serum albumin (DNP-HSA) to induce mast cell degranulation before supernatants were collected. Effects of Gab2 siRNA on antigen-induced release of β-hexosaminidase and histamine, cytokine production and regulation of the proteins in the pathway were measured by enzymatic assay, EIA, ELISA and Western blotting. Treatment with Gab2 siRNA significantly decreased Gab2 expression, inhibited the FcεRI-mediated mast cell release of β-hexosaminidase and histamine, reduced the production of IL-4 and TNF-α and inhibited the phosphorylation of Akt, PKC8 and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK). Data showed that Gab2 siRNA could suppress the antigen-induced activation of RBL-2H3 cells and suggested a possible mechanism through inhibition of signaling molecules downstream of Gab2 in the 2+ FcεRI-mediated Ca -independent pathway. Induction of broadly neutralizing monoclonal antibodies(bNAbs)that bind to the viral envelope glycoproteins is a major goal of hepatitis C virus(HCV)vaccine research.The study of bNAbs arising in natural infection is essential in this endeavor.We generated a human antibody,8D6,recognizing the E2 protein of HCV isolated from a chronic hepatitis C patient.This antibody shows broadly neutralizing activity,which covers a pan-genotypic panel of cell culture-derived HCV virions(HCVcc).Functional and epitope analyses demonstrated that 8D6 can block the interaction between E2 and CD81 by targeting a highly conserved epitope on E2.We describe how the 8D6 lineage evolved via somatic hypermutation to achieve broad neutralization.We found that the V(D)J recombination-generated junctional and somatic hypermutation-induced disulfide bridge(C-C)motif in the CDRH3 is critical for the broad neutralization and binding activity of 8D6.This motif is conserved among a series of broadly neutralizing HCV antibodies,indicating a common binding model.Next,the 8D6 inferred germline(iGL)was reconstructed and tested for its binding affinity and neutralization activity.Interestingly,8D6 iGL-mediated relatively strong inhibition of the 1b genotype PR79L9 strain,suggesting that PR79L9 may serve as a potential natural viral strain that provides E2 sequences that induce bNAbs.Overall,our detailed epitope mapping and genetic studies of the HCV E2-specific mAb 8D6 have allowed for further refinement of antigenic sites on E2 and reveal a new mechanism to generate a functional CDRH3,while its iGL can serve as a probe to identify potential HCV vaccine strains. 展开更多

In the Nino3.4 region(tropical Pacific,5°S-5°N,170°-120°W),sea surface temperature(SST)changes are highly correlated with temperature variations in the upper 40-m layer.This study explores the upper-ocean heat budget in the Nino3.4 region using Ocean Reanalysis System 5(ORAS5)monthly data from 1979 to 2018,with a focus on ocean heat transports at lateral boundaries in the top 40-m layer and their correlation with temperature variations.In the region,there is a well-defined structure of opposite meridional circulation in the upper and lower parts of the thermocline,characterized by divergence in the upper layer above 40 m and convergence in the lower layer.The change of mean temperature in the upper layer is determined by the sum of zonal,meridional,and vertical heat transports,which,however,tend to largely compensate for each other.In general,part of the surface heat flux from the atmosphere to the ocean and the heat transport from the subsurface ocean are transported out of the domain by meridional and zonal currents,leaving only a tiny part to warm or cool the upper ocean.The amplitude of the net surface heat flux effective for the entire 40-m layer of the ocean is weaker than the lateral heat transport.On an interannual timescale,variations of heat transports in both zonal and meridional are positively correlated with temperature anomalies,while the vertical heat transport from the subsurface ocean is negatively correlated.Composite analyses for five El Nino events and five La Nina events also revealed that there is a positive contribution of horizontal transport convergence to temperature anomalies during the evolution of El Nino(warming)and La Nina(cooling),while vertical transport acts against temperature variations. 展开更多
