Understanding the response of the Earth system to varying concentrations of carbon dioxide(CO_(2))is critical for projecting possible future climate change and for providing insight into mitigation and adaptation strategies in the near future. In this study,we generate a dataset by conducting an experiment involving carbon dioxide removal(CDR)—a potential way to suppress global warming—using the Chinese Academy of Sciences Earth System Model version 2.0(CASESM2.0).A preliminary evaluation is provided. The model is integrated from 200–340 years as a 1%yr^(−1) CO_(2) concentration increase experiment, and then to~478 years as a carbon dioxide removal experiment until CO_(2) returns to its original value. Finally, another 80 years is integrated in which CO_(2) is kept constant.Changes in the 2-m temperature, precipitation, sea surface temperature, ocean temperature,Atlantic meridional overturning circulation(AMOC),and sea surface height are all analyzed. In the ramp-up period, the global mean 2-m temperature and precipitation both increase while the AMOC weakens.Values of all the above variables change in the opposite direction in the ramp-down period, with a delayed peak relative to the CO_(2) peak. After CO_(2) returns to its original value, the global mean 2-m temperature is still~1 K higher than in the original state, and precipitation is~0.07 mm d^(–1) higher. At the end of the simulation, there is a~0.5°C increase in ocean temperature and a 1 Sv weakening of the AMOC.Our model simulation produces similar results to those of comparable experiments previously reported in the literature. 展开更多

BACKGROUND The diagnosis and treatment of depression in patients with chronic heart failure(CHF)is challenging, with no ideal treatment at present.AIM To analyze the clinical intervention effect of Xuefu Zhuyu decoction(XFZYD)on CHF complicated with depression.METHODS The study cohort comprised 116 patients with CHF complicated with depression who received treatment from July 2020 to July 2023,of which 55 received Western medicine(control group)and 61 received XFZYD(research group).Data on clinical effectiveness, traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome score, cardiac function, negative emotions, and serum inflammatory factors, were collected for comparative analyses.RESULTS Compared with the control group, the research group had an evidently higher total effective rate.Furthermore, there were marked reductions in TCM symptom score, left ventricular end-diastolic diameter, left ventricular end-systolic diameter,Self-Rating Depression Scale,Hamilton Depression Scale,high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, monocyte chemoattractant protein-1,and matrix metalloproteinase-9 in the research group after treatment, and these were lower than the corresponding values in the control group.Left ventricular ejection fraction was increased and higher in the research group compared with the control group after treatment.CONCLUSION Our findings conclusively proved that XFZYD was considerably superior to Western medicine for treating CHF complicated with depression because it significantly alleviated patients’symptoms, improved cardiac function, relieved negative emotions, and reduced the levels of serum inflammatory factors. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Impaired interstitial cells of Cajal(ICCs)are central to the pathophysiology of acute cholecystitis(AC).Common bile duct ligation is a common model of AC,producing acute inflammatory changes and decrease in gallbladder contractility.AIM To investigate the origin of slow wave(SW)in the gallbladder and the effect of ICCs on gallbladder contractions during the process of AC.METHODS Methylene blue(MB)with light was used to establish selective impaired ICCs gallbladder tissue.Gallbladder motility was assessed using the frequency of SW and gallbladder muscle contractility in vitro in normal control(NC),AC12h,AC24h,and AC48h groups of guinea pigs.Hematoxylin and eosin and Massonstained gallbladder tissues were scored for inflammatory changes.ICCs pathological changes alterations were estimated using immunohistochemistry and transmission electron microscopy. The alterations of c-Kit,α-SMA,cholecystokinin A receptor(CCKAR),and connexin 43(CX43)were assessed using Western blot.RESULTS Impaired ICCs muscle strips resulted in the decrease in gallbladder SW frequency and contractility. The frequency of SW and gallbladder contractility were significantly lower in the AC12h group.Compared with the NC group, the density and ultrastructure of ICCs were remarkably impaired in the AC groups, especially in the AC12h group. The protein expression levels of c-Kit were significantly decreased in the AC12h group, while CCKAR and CX43 protein expression levels were significantly decreased in the AC48h group.CONCLUSION Loss ICCs could lead to a decrease in gallbladder SW frequency and contractility. The density and ultrastructure of ICCs were clearly impaired in the early stage of AC,while CCKAR and CX43 were significantly reduced at end stage. 展开更多

Diesel hydrotreatment removes heteroatoms and polycyclic aromatics in diesel in the presence of highpressure hydrogen gas.The hydrogen solubility is the basis for hydrogen consumption prediction and process design/optimization.In the presented study,we established a method to predict the hydrogen solubility of diesel molecules and mixture.A modified Henry equation was proposed to illustrate the hydrogen solubility variation among the temperature and pressure. The parameters of the modified Henry equation for typical molecules were regressed from literature data. Then we established an empirical correlation between the parameter and the structure and property of molecules. The method was then combined with a molecular-level compositional model to accurately predict the hydrogen solubility in diesel, illustrating the validity of the method. 展开更多

The diversity of surface-flux perturbations, especially for heat-flux perturbations, notably leads to uncertainties surrounding the responses of ocean climate under global warming scenarios projected by climate/Earth system models. However, when imposing heat-flux perturbations on the models, strong feedback persists between the atmosphere and the ocean, resulting in nearly doubled heat-flux perturbation over the North Atlantic(NA).Herein, quantitative evaluation of the influences of magnitude change of heat-flux perturbations over the NA on the changes in the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation(AMOC),ocean heat uptake(OHU)and dynamic sea level(DSL)has been conducted by analysis of eight coupled model responses to the heat-flux perturbation experiments in the Flux-Anomaly-Forced Model Inter-comparison Project. It has been demonstrated that the magnitude of the AMOC change is extremely sensitive to the magnitude change of imposed NA heat-flux perturbation, and the weakening amplitude of the AMOC is nearly halved as the imposed heat-flux perturbation F is halved over the NA.The most remarkable responses of both DSL and OHU to the magnitude changes of NA heat-flux perturbation have been primarily found in the Atlantic and Arctic basins, especially for the NA region. Both the added ocean heat uptake(OHUa)and redistributed ocean heat uptake(OHUr)play key roles in OHU changes among the various NA heat-flux perturbation experiments. The magnitude change of NA-mean OHUa is almost linearly related to the imposed NA heat-flux perturbation, while the magnitude change of NA-mean OHUr,which is primarily caused by AMOC change and redistributed heat flux,is not proportional to the imposed NA heat-flux perturbation. There is a nearly linear relationship between the magnitude of AMOC change and the OHUr in tropical regions, including the regions in the low-latitude South Atlantic, the tropical Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. 展开更多

Drug abuse has become a global problem. The mass spectrometry‑based metabolic consequences of ketamine administration in anesthesia and therapy have been well studied, but to the best of our knowledge, metabolomic studies of ketamine abuse based on nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)spectroscopy are still lacking. In this study, twenty Sprague–Dawley rats were randomly assigned into two groups:a control group(n=10)and a ketamine group(n=10).The animals in the ketamine group received intraperitoneal injections of ketamine twice daily at 12‑h intervals at progressively increasing doses over a period of 9 days, while the control group received an equal volume of saline. The urine samples were collected for 24 h at days 0,1,3,5,7,and 9 for the metabolomics study. The metabolic changes in urine after short‑term ketamine administration were analyzed by proton NMR coupled with multivariate statistical analysis. The results indicated that short‑term ketamine exposure led to significant alterations of the metabolites in the urine of the rats.Specifically,1,3,7‑trimethyluric acid,1,3‑dimethyluric acid, acetoacetic acid, acetylglycine, creatine, sarcosine, dimethylglycine, glycine, and theobromine were significantly increased in the urine.Significant changes were also found in metabolites related to antioxidant and energy metabolism, including acetoacetic acid,succinate,1,3,7‑trimethyluric acid,1,3‑dimethyluric acid, creatine, and taurine. Our findings indicated that short‑term ketamine administration leads to disorder of energy metabolism and oxidative stress. In addition, the modified metabolites identified could serve as the new biological markers and potential biological indices reflecting the underlying mechanism of ketamine abuse. 展开更多
