During this decade,many countries have experienced natural and accidental disasters,such as typhoons,floods,earthquakes,and nuclear plant accidents,causing catastrophic damage to infrastructures.Since the end of 2019,...During this decade,many countries have experienced natural and accidental disasters,such as typhoons,floods,earthquakes,and nuclear plant accidents,causing catastrophic damage to infrastructures.Since the end of 2019,all countries of the world are struggling with the COVID-19 and pursuing countermeasures,including inoculation of vaccine,and changes in our lifestyle and social structures.All these experiences have made the residents in the affected regions keenly aware of the need for new infrastructures that are resilient and autonomous,so that vital lifelines are secured during calamities.A paradigm shift has been taking place toward reorganizing the energy social service management in many countries,including Japan,by effective use of sustainable energy and new supply schemes.However,such new power sources and supply schemes would affect the power grid through intermittency of power output and the deterioration of power quality and service.Therefore,new social infrastructures and novel management systems to supply energy and social service will be required.In this paper,user-friendly design,operation and control assist tools for resilient microgrids and autonomous communities are proposed and applied to the standard microgrid to verify its effectiveness and performance.展开更多

Before the Tsunami, 54 nuclear plants were operated, however presently, only three ...In 2011, a large scale earthquake and tsunami hit the northeastern coast of Japan, and nuclear plants were damaged to a large extent. Before the Tsunami, 54 nuclear plants were operated, however presently, only three nuclear plants are in operation. Therefore, Japan is suffering from high price of electricity and low supply reliability. In generation mix, nuclear plants generate only one percent and 87 percent of electricity is generated by fossil energy. This is not preferable for Japan from the viewpoints of energy security and stable electricity supply. Therefore, it is mandatory to increase sustainable energy and to decrease consumption of fossil fuel. International grid connection and the Global Energy Interconnection will be one of countermeasures against these problems existing in Japan. In this paper, international grid connection initiatives proposed in Asia are described and features and issues of electric power grids in Japan are discussed to implement the international grid connection. As the key technology for implementing the international grid connection, the present status of DC superconducting power transmission lines and power converters for long-distance power transmission lines are presented. Various kinds of new engineering technologies have been studied to realize the low-carbon and sustainable power supply systems all over the world.In actual implementation of these technologies,mostly,there are multipl...Various kinds of new engineering technologies have been studied to realize the low-carbon and sustainable power supply systems all over the world.In actual implementation of these technologies,mostly,there are multiple objectives with trade off relationships among each other,and also various constraints in the achievement of these objectives.Therefore,it should be essential to solve multiobjective optimization problems effectively in the applications of these new technologies in power systems.This paper proposes an improved method to realize multiobjective optimization for critical challenges in advanced power systems.To realize that,in an optimal dispersed generation installation problem,that is,one of effective measures for low-carbon power systems,various optimization methods and their combination methods are evaluated and a hybrid method for evolutionary algorithms was developed.The method can provide improved results compared with other state-of-the-art multi-objective optimization methods.展开更多
