Fault detection of an induction motor was carried out using the information of the stator current. After synchronizing the actual data, Fourier and wavelet transformations were adopted in order to obtain the sideband or detail value characteristics under healthy and various faulty operating conditions. The most reliable phase current among the three phase currents was selected using an approach that employs the fuzzy entropy measure. Data were trained with a neural network system, and the fault detection algorithm was verified using the unknown data. Results of the proposed approach based on Fourier and wavelet transformations indicate that the faults can be properly classified into six categories. The training error is 5.3×10-7, and the average test error is 0.103. 展开更多

The effectiveness of optimizing electrical conductivity of carbon fiber/carbon nanotube (CNT)/epoxy hybrid composites via Taguchi method was demonstrated.CNTs were induced on carbon fabric by electrophoretic deposition (EPD) technique.The essential deposition parameters were identified as 1) the deposition time,2) the deposition voltage,3) the mass fraction of CNTs in suspension,and 4) the distance between the electrodes.An experimental design was then performed to establish the appropriate levels for each factor.An orthogonal array of L9 (34) was designed to conduct the experiments.Electrical conductivity results were collected as the response.The relative influences of design parameters on the response were discussed.Using the model,signal to noise (S/N) ratio and response characteristics for the optimized deposition parameter combination were predicted.The results show clearly that the optimum condition of electrophoretic deposition (EPD) process improves the electrical conductivity of carbon/epoxy hybrid composites. 展开更多

Two types of composites, including one-layered and two-layered composites, were designed and studied. For one-layered composites, inter-strand gap effects on the mechanical properties were studied, while three cases of geometries with inter-strand gaps in two-layered composites were evaluated. A woven fiber micromechanics analytical model called MESOTEX was employed for theoretical simulation. The predicted results show that the inter-strand gap and simple variation of the strand positions in a repeating unit cell significantly affect the mechanical properties of woven fabric composites. 展开更多

Numerical simulation and experimental study of the Vickers indentation testing of the Al2O3 ceramic coated by diamond-like carbon(DLC) layer were conducted.The numerical analysis was implemented by a two-dimensional finite element(FE) axis symmetry model.FE analysis results gave insight into the fracture mechanism of DLC films coated on brittle ceramic(Al2O3) substrates.The maximum principal stress field was used to locate the most expected area for crack formation and propagation during the Vickers indentation testing.The results show that the median crack initiates in the interface under indenter,before ring crack occurs as the indenter presses down.Finally,the plastic deformation appears when the indenter penetrates into the substrate.The thicker DLC coating increases the Vickers hardness and fracture toughness. 展开更多
