Water is essential to life and to the sustainable socio-economic development of a nation, It is therefore interesting to have a better knowledge of the quality of this water. The aim was to determine the degree of microbiological and physico-chemical pollution of the water of the “Mamouwol” river in the town of Mamou. To do this, we chose four (4) sampling sites spread throughout the town of Mamou. During the month of March (2024), 4 water samples were analyzed to monitor the water quality of this river. The average values of the flora analyzed show that these water are heavily contaminated with bacteria indicative of fecal and metal pollution. This study showed that sites: Mam4;Mam2 and Mam1 contain the highest loads, with Total Coliform counts ranging from 1534 CFU/100 ml to 2100 CFU/100 ml, the number of faecal coliforms varies between 526 and 1240 CFU/100 ml, and that of faecal streptococci between 526 and 841 CFU/100 ml. Metal content, BOD5 and COD all comply with the laboratory’s analysis criteria, although they vary from point to point. 展开更多

Over the years, pineapple production in the Republic of Guinea has become less competitive in the West African sub-region, with a world ranking of 144th. It is therefore only natural to review certain parameters in order to improve this ranking. To do this, certain physico-chemical parameters of soil samples from Friguiagbé and Maferinyah (in the Kindia and Forécariah prefectures) were taken and analysed using the following techniques: Pipette de Robinson, Anne, Bray II, Kapen HICDVITZ, Mc. Lead (1982). The analytical results show that the soils at Friguiagbé in Kindia and Maferinyah in Forécariah are acidic, with pH values of 4.4 and 4.7 (fields I and II) and 4.8 and 4.7 (fields I and II) respectively. The soils have a silty-sandy texture. This study could therefore serve as a guide for the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Guinea. 展开更多

In African countries, regulations on the management of WTE(Waste from Information Technology Equipment)are non-existent or sometimes insufficient,if they exist. This study shows how to mention waste from information technology equipment in a country that does not have a regulatory legislative framework or organized management channels.A methodological approach based on documentary research and semi-directed interviews was adopted in this work. The results showed that 54.55%of institutional managers are unaware of the existence of regulations for the management of WTE,both at the national and international levels;72.72%of these managers do not have a specific implementing text for this management;72.73%of institutions have adopted an acquisition policy based on the needs of workers and 81.82%of institutions store WTE in warehouses.Relations with waste collection SMEs(Small and Midsize Enterprises),especially for IT equipment, are limited for 72.73%of institutions. In terms of improving the capacity to manage WEEE(Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment),90.91%of institutions do not offer training or awareness raising.Overall,no significant indicators are in place to assess WEEE management in institutions, which reflects a lack of commitment and awareness among institutional managers. In addition, there are no financial means for ecological and sustainable management.Although 27.27%of managers are aware of the dangers to human health and the environment related to IT equipment, they are often unaware of the harmful consequences of abandoning it in nature. 展开更多

The monitoring of our watercourses for their preservation must be an imperative concern of the whole population. The aim of this study is to describe the main causes of degradation and destruction of the natural resources of the Mamouwol River in the Mamou commune.Data were collected using a survey method(questionnaire, interviews and observations). The study revealed that extensive agro-pastoral activities are the main socio-economic activity of the population, accounting for 78.5%-90%and 20.30%respectively.Fishing follows(1.2%).Related activities include handicrafts and petty trade;Other human activities:hunting(11%),charcoal burning(58%),brick making and firing(45.6%).Riverbanks and water resources in the vicinity of dwellings are damaged and polluted by socio-economic activities and the use of agricultural inputs. The absence of industrial units on the path for the data collection. 展开更多

Objectives: 1) To calculate the ratio of maternal mortality. 2) To describe the socio-demographic characteristics of deceased patients. 3) To identify the main causes of maternal deaths. Methodology: This was a retrospective study of the 12-month period from January 1st to December 31st, 2015 performed at the Gynaecology Obstetrics Department of the Ignace Deen National Hospital, Conakry, Guinea. The study included women who died during pregnancy, childbirth, and in its peripheries according to WHO’s maternal death report. Results: We collected 38 cases of maternal deaths out of 4404 live births, accounting a ratio of 863 per 100,000 live births. The socio-demographic characteristics of these 38 patients were: 20 - 24 years of age (26%), married (78%), housewives (37%), students (44%), and nulliparous (29%), no prenatal follow-up (47%), and home-birth (49%). The 1st and 3rd type of delay amounted for 40% and 53%, respectively. Patients consulted after 12 hours after symptom-onsets accounted 47%, whereas those before 6 hours accounted for 19%, suggesting the delay of first medication. The final diagnosis and diagnosis at admission coincided in 69% of cases. The emergency kit was available for all. The opinion of a specialist was available in 16 patients. Blood was available in 40% of the patients who required it. Death caused by conditions directly related to pregnancy/delivery accounted for 71%. Haemorrhage was the most frequent cause of death. Death occurred within the first 24 hours of admission in 73% of cases. Conclusion: We here shed light on the maternal death in this area. Although we did not demonstrate the method/procedure to reduce this high rate of maternal mortality, the present study may provide a fundamental data to reduce maternal death in this area. 展开更多

The digitization of administrative activities is a technique that not only optimizes resources, but also professionalizes the working methods of public and private services. This dematerialization process involves technologies based on computer equipment, which, after use, becomes cumbersome waste. The aim targeted consisted of taking stock of the management of waste computer equipment imported into the Republic of Guinea, with a view of proposing a mode of environmentally sustainable management methods in a short time. To achieve this, the data was collected through investigation methods (observations, interviews, and questionnaires). This study reveals an excess of imports of electrical and electronic equipment in general, and computer equipment in particular, over the last ten years (2009-2019), With an import rate ranging from 4.03 to 54.45%. This study demonstrated the different ways in which computer and electronic equipment of all kinds are managed, with her failings. This study demonstrated the different ways in which computer and electronic equipment of all kinds are managed, as well as their failings. For this purpose, the different ways in which electronic waste is managed by different users were identified as storage, recycling, or rejection into nature or at waste storage points, often mixed with household waste. Companies specializing in the management of this type of waste and the presence of a certain number of regulatory texts almost do not exist. One company is only for the entire country but unknown to the majority of users. 展开更多
