However, some patients treated with oxaliplatin may show n...Peripheral neuropathy is a major adverse event associated with oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy and is a major dose-limiting adverse event in clinical practice. However, some patients treated with oxaliplatin may show no or minimal peripheral neuropathy. These differences are still poorly understood. The data on patients with colorectal cancer who received oxaliplatin-based regimens between January 2005 and June 2010 at South Miyagi Medical Center were retrospectively retrieved from the medical records. We selected 51 patients, and factor analysis was performed. The serum chlorine (Cl) level at baseline was significantly higher in patients with a high frequency of peripheral neuropathy (106;range 104 - 107 vs. 104;range 101 - 104 mEq/L, p = 0.02). Principal component analysis showed the variables Cl, body mass index, status of liver metastasis, and status of lymph node metastasis were related to the incidence of peripheral neuropathy. Discriminant analysis showed the model had predicted 72.5% of peripheral neuropathy. An understanding of the patient’s characteristics could be useful for preventing or predicting oxaliplatin-induced peripheral neuropathy.展开更多

Only 35 cases have been reported in the literature since 1941. We report a 52-year-old Japanese woman who had been treated for rectal adenocarcinoma (Dukes C, stage IIIb) and who was diagnosed with primary uterine cervical carcinoma (FIGO stage Ib2) two years later. A radical hysterectomy was performed and the surgical specimen showed metastatic adenocarcinoma of the uterine cervix from rectal cancer without direct extension. Immunohistochemical staining was positive for cytokeratin 20 and CDX2, and negative for cytokeratin 7. Immunohistochemical staining is important for distinguishing between primary and secondary adenocarcinomas of the cervix, but histologic findings alone are not always adequate to establish the site of the primary lesion. The distinction between primary and secondary adenocarcinomas of the cervix is important for patient management and prognosis. Therefore, the possibility of metastatic adenocarcinoma should be considered whenever a diagnosis of adenocarcinoma of the cervix is received.展开更多

The crystals were synthesized on a voltage-applied electrode in a molten chloride solvent. The maximum length of the crystal was about 1.5 mm. The X-ray diffraction data were refined well by assuming a cubic structure of the space group Pm n, and the lattice constant a was 5.7471 (10) ?. The temperature dependence of the resistivity showed semiconductor-like characteristics with a very small activation energy Ea of 0.45 meV at low temperatures, and the resistivity at 300 K was 0.1 cm. The temperature dependence of the molar magnetic susceptibility showed the Curie-Weiss paramagnetic behavior with a small molar Curie constant Cmol of 5.0(1) × 10-3 emu K/(mol Oe), indicating the existence of localized spin moments.展开更多
Subsurface exploration is one of the most ambitious scientific objectives of the Hayabusa2 mission.A small device called small carry-on impactor(SCI)was developed to create an artificial crater on the surface of aster...Subsurface exploration is one of the most ambitious scientific objectives of the Hayabusa2 mission.A small device called small carry-on impactor(SCI)was developed to create an artificial crater on the surface of asteroid Ryugu.This enables us to sample subsurface materials,which will provide a window to the past.The physical properties of the resulting crater are also useful for understanding the internal structure of Ryugu.Accurate understanding of the crater and ejecta properties,including the depth of excavation of subsurface materials,requires accurate information on impact conditions.In particular,the impact angle is a critical factor because it greatly influences the size and shape of the crater.On April 5,2019,the Hayabusa2 spacecraft deployed the SCI at 500 m of altitude above the asteroid surface.The SCI gradually reduced its altitude,and it shot a 2 kg copper projectile into the asteroid 40 min after separation.Estimating the position of the released SCI is essential for determining the impact angle.This study describes the motion reconstruction of the SCI based on the actual operation data.The results indicate that the SCI was released with high accuracy.展开更多
Transparent visualization is used in many fields because it can visualize not only the frontal object but also other important objects behind it.Although in many situations,it would be very important for the 3D struct...Transparent visualization is used in many fields because it can visualize not only the frontal object but also other important objects behind it.Although in many situations,it would be very important for the 3D structures of the visualized transparent images to be perceived as they are simulated,little is known quantitatively as to how such transparent 3D structures are perceived.To address this question,in the present study,we conducted a psychophysical experiment in which the observers reported the perceived depth magnitude of a transparent object in medical images,presented with a multiview 3D display.For the visualization,we employed a stochastic point-based rendering(SPBR)method,which was developed recently as a technique for efficient transparentrendering.Perceived depth of the transparent object was smaller than the simulated depth.We found,however,that such depth underestimation can be alleviated to some extent by(1)applying luminance gradient inherent in the SPBR method,(2)employing high opacities,and(3)introducing binocular disparity and motion parallax produced by a multi-view 3D display.展开更多

The Japanese interplanetary probe Hayabusa2 was launched on December 3,2014 and the probe arrived at the vicinity of asteroid 162173 Ryugu on June 27,2018.During its 1.4 years of asteroid proximity phase,the probe suc...The Japanese interplanetary probe Hayabusa2 was launched on December 3,2014 and the probe arrived at the vicinity of asteroid 162173 Ryugu on June 27,2018.During its 1.4 years of asteroid proximity phase,the probe successfully accomplished numbers of record-breaking achievements including two touchdowns and one artificial cratering experiment,which are highly expected to have secured surface and subsurface samples from the asteroid inside its sample container for the first time in history.The Hayabusa2 spacecraft was designed not to orbit but to hover above the asteroid along the sub Earth line.This orbital and geometrical configuration allows the spacecraft to utilize its high-gain antennas for telecommunication with the ground station on Earth while pointing its scientific observation and navigation sensors at the asteroid.This paper focuses on the regular station-keeping operation of Hayabusa2,which is called“home position”(HP)-keeping operation.First,together with the spacecraft design,an operation scheme called HP navigation(HPNAV),which includes a daily trajectory control and scientific observations as regular activities,is introduced.Following the description on the guidance,navigation,and control design as well as the framework of optical and radiometric navigation,the results of the HP-keeping operation including trajectory estimation and delta-V planning during the entire asteroid proximity phase are summarized and evaluated as a first report.Consequently,this paper states that the HP.keeping operation in the framework of HPNAV had succeeded without critical incidents,and the number of trajectory control delta-V was planned fficiently throughout the period.展开更多
