The effect of the rare earth cerium (Ce) on the hypereutectic Al-Si alloy under different casting states have been studied by optical microscope and quantitative image analysis. It is found that the size and the quantity of primary silicon in castings decrease with the increase of added Ce in the melt. Meanwhile primary silicon changes from branched shape to fine facetted shape. Although the modification on eutectic silicon in castings also improves with the increase of added Ce in the melt, the effect of modification on eutectic silicon away from primary silicon is more obvious than that on eutectic silicon close to primary silicon. The modification mechanism was analyzed in detail by means of scanning electron microscope equipped with energy dispersive analysis of X-ray and thermodynamics analysis, which included the analysis on the change in standard Gibbs energy of reaction and reaction equilibrium. 展开更多

A general review of recent research progress in fabricating transparent conductive ZnO thin films by means of intentional doping and codoping with In, Ga, A1, Mg, Li, F, H, N, and P, divided into metals and nonmetals, is presented in this article. The main emphasis is placed on introducing and discussing the recent research achievements on the mechanisms of the incorporation of these impurities, and their effects on the electrical and optical properties. Lastly, this article concludes with a summary of the present state of investigations on doping elements in fabricating functional ZnO thin films for photoelectric applications, and with our personal view of the perspective of future studies on doped ZnO thin films. 展开更多

A perovskite-type oxide, La0.8Sr0.2MnO3, was synthesized by the organic solvent sol-gel method. The desired metal cations were chelated in a solution by using citric acid as the chelating agent and absolute ethanol as the solvent. The thermal decomposition of the metal carboxylate precursor gels was studied by thermogravimetric/differential thermal analyzer (TG/DTA) and the products derived from calcining the gels were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electronic microscope (TEM). The polarization curves were acquired on an electrochemical workstation (LK98) and the discharge curves were acquired on a testing instrument of batteries (DC-5), with a constant current discharge, less than 120 mA/cm^2. The results revealed that the nanometer perovskite-type powder with lesser particle size could be achieved with an organic solvent and had a better catalytic activity. 展开更多
