Objective: To examine physical activity(PA) of post-percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) patients and explore the demographic, clinical, and social psychological characteristics associated with PA levels. Methods: A total of 246 post-PCI patients from the Peking University Third Hospital in Beijing, China, were included in this crosssectional study through convenience sampling. Data were collected from a self-repor ted questionnaire. PA was categorized into low, moderate, or high levels. The ordinal multinomial logistic regression model was used to estimate the relationship among demographic, medical, and psychosocial characteristics. Results: The overall prevalence of low, moderate, and high PA was 20%, 70%, and 10%, respectively. For the domain-specific PA patterns, most par ticipants took par t in leisure-time PA(84.5%);walking was the most common PA. Increased motivation and selfefficacy, lower monthly income, and unemployment were predictors of high PA. Conclusions: PA levels in post-PCI patients was not optimal, and leisure-time PA had the highest par ticipation rate. Analyses of influencing factors can provide medical staff and health workers information to focus on high-risk groups and introduce more tailored interventions. Future studies can explore more regions, and ecological models can be introduced to study more influencing factors. 展开更多

Effective communication among healthcare professionals in the intensive care unit (ICU) is a particular imperative, with accurate and efficient interdisciplinary communication being a critical prerequisite for high-quality care.Nurses and physicians are highly important parts of the healthcare system workforce. Thus, identifying strategies that would improve communication between these two groups can provide evidence for practical improvement in the ICU,which will ultimately improve patient outcomes. This integrative literature review aimed to identify interventions that improve communication between nurses and physicians in ICUs.Three databases (Medline,CINAHL,and Science Direct) were searched between September 2014 and June 2016 using 11 search terms, namely, nurse, doctor, physician, resident, clinician,ICU,intensive care unit, communication, teamwork, collaboration, and relationship.A manual search of the reference lists of found papers was also conducted.Eleven articles met the inclusion criteria. These studies reported on the use of communication tools/checklists,team training, multidisciplinary structured work shift evaluation, and electronic situation-background-assessment -recommendation documentation templates to improve communication.Although which intervention strategies are most effective remains unclear, this review suggests that these strategies improve communication to some extent.Future studies should be rigorously designed and outcome measures should be specific and validated to capture and reflect the effects of effective communication. 展开更多

A living donor is by definition a healthy person without significant medical problems. However, procedures involved with donation expose living donors to risks from a number of complications and donor safety remains an issue of concern.[1]Complications can affect the donor’s quality of life(QoL)to varying degrees and scales or questionnaires are commonly used to assess their QoL.Based on existing literature,we found three types of instruments for assessing living donors’QoL:(1)generic instruments,(2)disease-specific instruments,and(3)selfdeveloped instruments(scales, questionnaires, survey lists).Generic instruments(eg,36-item short form health survey),[2]may not adequately measure some specific problems and/or minor issues associated with the organ transplant surgery.Disease-specific instruments,(eg,chronic liver disease questionnaire),originally developed for use with particular diseases,[3]may lack precision and comprehensiveness in assessing the QoL of donors from healthy individuals.Self-developed instruments can resolve some of the deficiencies associated with generic and disease-specific instruments.[4,5]In China, there remains a lack of consensus with regard to an effective scale that is specific for assessing the QoL of living organ donors. 展开更多
