Effect of Trimetazidine on Functional Capacity in Patient with Ischaemic Cardiomyopathy (TOFCAPI)

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of trimetazidine on exercise capacity via a six-minute walk test in patients with ischaemic cardiomyopathy and also evaluate the effect of trimetazidine on left ventricular function via echocardiography in the same population. Methods: This prospective observational study, conducted at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in Dhaka, Bangladesh, enrolled 200 patients with ischaemic cardiomyopathy and a depressed left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF Results: In this study (n = 200) of ischaemic cardiomyopathy patients, the mean age was 58 years, with 76% of the patients being male. All study subjects received GDMT (Guideline-Directed Medical Therapy) for angina and heart failure. Those who received the modified released form of trimetazidine developed lesions during the 1st and 2nd follow-ups, during which the LVEF, LVIDd, and six-minute walk distance significantly improved (p Conclusion: The findings of the present study demonstrated that the addition of modified-release trimetazidine to GDMT can improve exercise capacity and left ventricular function in patients with ischaemic cardiomyopathy.

Lived Experience with Cirrhosis of Liver Patient at a University Hospital: A Qualitative Study

Introduction: Patients’ physical, psychosocial, economical, spiritual and daily activities as well as quality of life are mostly affected by the cirrhosis of liver. It is an advanced stage of liver fibrosis that mostly caused by hepatitis B and hepatitis C, and alcoholism. Objective: This study is intended to explore the lived experience of the patient’s with cirrhosis of liver patients. Methodology: A Phenomenological study design was used as a research methodology to elicit in-depth understanding of lived experience of the hospitalized adult cirrhosis of liver patients at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Twenty patients with cirrhosis of liver were purposively interviewed using guidelines until data were saturated. Recorded voice was checked by participants to establish trustworthiness. Interviews were recorded, transcribed verbatim and translated. Content analysis was used to explore the structure of meaning of the lived experienced cirrhosis of liver patients. Results: The average age of the cirrhosis of liver patients was 43.85 (±15.06) and most of them were male, Muslim and married. The average duration of suffering from this disease was 2.07 year ± 3.95. The lived experiences of cirrhosis of liver patients emerged at five themes: uncertainty about disease and its causes;feeling worse;living in physical impairment and economical crisis;coping with disease and self-actualization about prevention of cirrhosis of liver. Conclusion: People with cirrhosis of liver have unpredictable sufferings. The study findings would help the nurses to realize the patient’s condition for providing proper nursing care and prevent associate complications. It may also assist in conducting further research.

Leonurus sibiricus L.(honeyweed):A review of its phytochemistry and pharmacology

Leonurus sibiricus is a herbaceous plant found in many countries in Asia and America.This plant is widely practiced as a remedy for the treatment of diabetes,menstrual irregularities,and bronchitis.The approval of therapeutic implications of any drugs depends on the well characterized mode of actions of the compounds.The bioactive compounds like diterpenes,triterpenes,flavonoids and phenolic acids in Leonurus sibiricus show analgesic,anti-inflammatory,anti-oxidant,anti-atherogenic and antihemorrhagic,anti-diabetic,anti-bacterial and allelopathic potency.Interestingly,the expression level of some genes is altered by the crude extract treatments,which are effective against cancers,diabetes and cardiovascular diseases where the molecular mechanisms are yet to be explored.Intriguingly,the extracts significantly induce nitric oxide production by endothelial nitric oxide synthase,a signaling molecule of vasodilation in combination with interferon-y indicating positive effect on atherosclerosis.Further investigations are required to unlock the effects of bioactive compounds found in extracts at clinical settings.

Synthesis and Characterization of Copper-Zinc-Tin-Sulfide(CZTS)Thin Film Absorber Layer for Solar Cell Application

Copper zinc tin sulfide(CZTS)thin film was synthesized on soda lime glass substrate by using spin coating method.The synthesized CZTS thin film showed maximum absorption coefficient of 0.193×104 cm-1 and maximum extinction coefficient of 0.011.The direct optical band gap,Urbach energy and steepness parameter of the synthesized CZTS thin film were 1.52 eV,0.52 eV and 0.05 respectively.The CZTS thin film was found to be polycrystalline tetragonal in nature.The scanning electron microscopy(SEM)revealed that the texture structure was formed for the CZTS thin film.

Stroke Management Awareness and Behavior among Nursing Students in Bangladesh

Background: Stroke is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality throughout the world. In Bangladesh, stroke accounts for 27% of deaths, making it the third leading cause of death and disability [1]. Nurses have a critical role to play in reducing death and disability among stroke victims, but many nursing students are not being educated to meet the challenges of this complex condition. Objectives: This study examined undergraduate nursing students’ awareness of strokes and their stroke patient management behaviors. Method: This was a descriptive study that surveyed undergraduate nursing students about their awareness of strokes and stroke patient management behaviors. One hundred and forty-four students were recruited from Dhaka University’s and Rajshahi University’s nursing colleges in Bangladesh. The students completed and returned the Awareness of Stroke Risk Factors, Awareness of Stroke Warning Signs, and Behavior of First Responses to Strokes and Behaviors of Special Managements of Stroke questionnaires between December, 2014 and February, 2015. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Pearson’s Product-Moment Correlation-Coefficient. Results: The results showed that nursing students had a moderate awareness level of stroke risk factors (M = 74.24, SD = 12.30) and a very low awareness of stroke warning signs (M = 55, SD = 10.72). In addition, all of the students had a low to very low level of behaviors of special stroke patient management (M = 62.11, SD = 9.75) and a very low level of behaviors of first responses to strokes (M = 0.24, SD = 0.43). There was a significant positive correlation between nursing students’ awareness of stroke risk factors and stroke warning signs (r = 0.247**, p 0.05). In addition, their awareness of stroke warning signs was not correlated with their behaviors of special stroke patient management (r = 0.031, p > 0.05). These findings suggested that nursing students need to increase their awareness level to develop stroke management behaviors in order to improve practicum preparedness. Conclusion: Work-based education must be a part of nursing students’ curricula to increase their awareness of strokes and improve their stroke management behaviors to improve practicum preparedness.

Synthesis, Spectral Characterization and Thermal Behavior of Newly Derived La(III), Co(III) and Mn(II) Complexes with Schiff Base Derived from Methionine and Salicylaldehyde

Many metal complexes of Schiff base derived from different amino acids are widely employed as biologically active materials, especially as antibacterial agents. Three new metal [Co(III), Mn(II) and La(III)] complexes with the Schiff base (L) derived from salicylaldehyde and amino acid (methionine) were synthesized and investigated by using various physico-chemical techniques such as elemental analysis, FTIR, UV-visible spectroscopy, magnetic measurement, thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) method. From spectral studies, it has been concluded that the synthesized ligand acts as a tetra-dentate molecule, coordinates metal through azomethine nitrogen, sulfur, phenolic oxygen and carboxylate oxygen. UV-visible spectrophotometry showed the characteristic absorption bands corresponding to a square planar geometry for La(III) and Mn(II) metal complexes and tetrahedral geometry for Co(III) complex. The XRD data demonstrated that the manganese and cobalt complexes were crystalline but the lanthanum complex was amorphous in nature. The empirical formula of the synthesized complexes based on analytical data were [Co(C12H13SNO3)]·(NO3), [La(C12H13SNO3)](Cl)(H2O) and [Mn (C12H13SNO3)].

Time Management of the Clinical Nurses at Public Hospital in Bangladesh

Nursing is a very intense and focused career, so picking the right time and its proper management can help to relieve personal stress, manage tasks properly and achieve patients and organizational outcome. Objective: This study aimed to explore perceived time management skill of the clinical nurses. Methods: This was a descriptive correlational study design using simple random sampling. A total of 77 clinical nurses working in Mugda Medical College Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh were selected as study participants. The data were collected through structure questionnaire which consisted of demographic questionnaire and five dimensions of Time Management Skill Questionnaire (TMSQ). Results: The overall mean score of time management skill was 2.63 (SD = 0.28) reflecting a medium level of nurses perceived time management skill. The results also revealed that nurses age (r = 0.39, p = 0.000), monthly income (r = 0.294, p = 0.017) and service experience (r = 0.248, p = 0.030) were statistically significant correlated with nurses’ perceived time management skill. Conclusion: The outcome of this research would add to develop a strategy for nurse administrators to take an initiative for how nurses could improve the time management and utilize their limited time effectively. It specifies that proper time management can influence to provide quality care and achieving organizational goal.

The Experiential Analysis of Woven Fabric for Reproduction

The aim of this article was to express the importance of this projected work in the field of present competitive textile-world as fabric manufacturing industries are competing with each other to be unique and aristocrat with their products for attaining customer’s attention and increasing their significance to others. To be superior in market, research is the first priority in this perspective competing field. Industries are producing a wide variety of products with some very good comfort properties in fabrics. Due to achieving this, different properties like construction, weave, internal structure, use of variety of yarn, inner-structural changes are brought in fabrics. The more an industry is advanced with its products, the more it will get market value which is very important. Market research in this field is fundamental prior to going for production. An experimental study may be applied in the market on various products with a view to attaining a good annual turnover with production and manufactures. All these parameters like development, growth, market values etc. are strongly dependent on the analytical and research activities of a group. Considering all, analysis on a fabric and its properties is very much fundament and important.

Effect of Fe^(3+)Doping Concentration in Cu_(2)ZnSnS_(4) Thin Film:Structural and Optical Analysis

CZTS(copper zinc tin sulfide),Cu_(2)ZnSnS_(4),is a potential demanding candidate that is used as absorber layer in solar cell.The CZTS,Fe^(3+)doped CZTS and CFTS(replacing Zn be Fe^(3+))thin films were deposited on a glass substrate using spin coating technique.The structural and optical properties of all the thin films were studied to investigate the effect of iron doping in CZTS.The XRD(X-ray diffraction)results show that all the thin films grow tetragonal crystal system.The crystallite size of the doped CZTS was higher than the pristine CZTS although it was lowest for CFTS.The optical band gaps varied from 1.45 eV and 1.83 eV which are suitable for absorbing sunlight.
