The eff ect of seasons on the soil microbiome in a Larix gmelinii forest of Mohe,China,where winter temperatures are generally below−40°C,was evaluated with metagenomics analysis.Taxonomic profi ling using sequen...The eff ect of seasons on the soil microbiome in a Larix gmelinii forest of Mohe,China,where winter temperatures are generally below−40°C,was evaluated with metagenomics analysis.Taxonomic profi ling using sequencing information revealed that Proteobacteria,Actinobacteria,Acidobacteria and Verrucomicrobia were the dominant phyla in spring,summer,and fall,as were Bradyrhizobium,Chthoniobacter,Streptomyces,Acid Candidatus Koribacter at the genus level.Some species that were abundant in spring and fall greatly diminished in abundance in summer.Clusters of orthologous groups(COG)of proteins,carbohydrate-active enzymes(CAZy),Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)and NCBI databases were used to elucidate the function of diverse proteins and metabolites of the microbial community of L.gmelinii forest.COG analysis showed that fewer genes were detected in spring than in fall and summer,indicating that many soil microbes in the L.gmelinii forest were not tolerant to cold.Based on KEGG analysis,some pathways in the soil microbes were activated in spring and autumn and deactivated in summer.CAZy analysis revealed that most CAZy were more active in summer than in spring or autumn and were severely inhibited in the spring.Many functional pathways,proteins,and CAZy involved in the community changes were concerned with cold or heat resistance.Therefore,the soil in the L.gmelinii forest can be a valuable resource for further research on heat and cold tolerance of soil microbes.展开更多
Microwave-assisted selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides(NOx)was investigated over Nibased metal oxides.The NiMn2O4 and NiCo_(2)O_(4) catalysts were synthesized by the co-precipitation method and their acti...Microwave-assisted selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides(NOx)was investigated over Nibased metal oxides.The NiMn2O4 and NiCo_(2)O_(4) catalysts were synthesized by the co-precipitation method and their activities were evaluated as potential candidate catalysts for low-temperature NH_(3)-SCR in a microwave field.The physicochemical properties and structures of the catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),Scanning electron microscope(SEM),N_(2)-physisorption,NO adsorption-desorption in the microwave field,H2-temperature programmed reduction(H2-TPR)and NH3-temperature programmed desorption(NH_(3)-TPD).The results verified that microwave radiation reduced the reaction temperature required for NH_(3)-SCR compared to conventional heating,which needed less energy.For the NiMn_(2)O_(4) catalyst,the catalytic efficiency exceeded 90%at 70°C and reached 96.8%at 110°C in the microwave field.Meanwhile,the NiMn_(2)O_(4) also exhibited excellent low-temperature NH3-SCR reaction performance under conventional heating conditions,which is due to the high BET specific surface area,more suitable redox property,good NO adsorption-desorption in the microwave field and rich acidic sites.展开更多
The purpose of this article is to determine the effect of a well-designed combined aerobic,resistance,and extension exercise program on bone mineral density(BMD)in postmenopausal women.The population comprised 45 post...The purpose of this article is to determine the effect of a well-designed combined aerobic,resistance,and extension exercise program on bone mineral density(BMD)in postmenopausal women.The population comprised 45 postmenopausal women,who exercised over 12 months(exercise group),and 36 women who served as a non-training control group.BMD of the hip,and lumbar spine was measured at the baseline and 12th month.Repeated measurement analysis of variance and nonparametric test were utilized to compare differences between the exercise group and controls.Thirty-six out of 45 persons in the exercise group and 36 controls completed the study.Average compliance was 82.2%for the whole exercise group at the 12th month.All the subjects had decreased BMD,but the rate of bone loss was lower in the exercise group than in the control group at the L4 and hip.Although the exercise program in this study may probably reduce the rate of bone loss in weight-bearing skeletal sites,we do not suggest the exercise by itself be viewed as prevention or treatment for osteoporosis.Further,the exact dose-response relationship of exercise and bone mass in early postmenopause is not clear.展开更多
Few studies have been conducted to assess the level of physical activity(PA)of women in China.The purpose of this study was to describe the prevalence of PA among women in Wuhan and explore sociodemographic and behavi...Few studies have been conducted to assess the level of physical activity(PA)of women in China.The purpose of this study was to describe the prevalence of PA among women in Wuhan and explore sociodemographic and behavioral correlation to PA for the population.A total of 1359 community-dwelling women(42.97�13.60 years old)participated in this study.The long-version IPAQ was used to define the level of PA.45.7%of women were considered physically active,and 27.5%were vigorously active.The proportion of physical inactivity was around 26.8%.The total and 4 domains of PA showed significant age,education level,and occupation variation.PA tended to be lower as the age declined.PA in transportation,housework,leisure time,and the total tended to be the lowest or the second lowest among the women aged 18–35 years old.PA tended to be lower as the level of education increased.Among the 5 indices,PA was the lowest among women with college education,especially those with postgraduate education.PA tended to be the lowest among the women of office staff and instructor or technician.Generally,the total and 4 domains of PA showed significant age,education level,and occupation variation.Physical inactivity appears to be more common among younger women,or college-educated women,office ladies,and female instructor and technicians.展开更多
