In bone tissue engineering,polycaprolactone(PCL)is a promising material with good biocompatibility,but its poor degradation rate,mechanical strength,and osteogenic properties limit its application.In this study,we developed an Mg-1Ca/polycaprolactone(Mg-1Ca/PCL)composite scaffolds to overcome these limitations.We used a melt blending method to prepare Mg-1Ca/PCL composites with Mg-1Ca alloy powder mass ratios of 5,10,and 20 wt%.Porous scaffolds with controlled macro-and microstructure were printed using the fused deposition modeling method.We explored the mechanical strength,biocompatibility,osteogenesis performance,and molecular mechanism of the Mg-1Ca/PCL composites.The 5 and 10 wt%Mg-1Ca/PCL composites were found to have good biocompatibility.Moreover,they promoted the mechanical strength,proliferation,adhesion,and osteogenic differentiation of human bone marrow stem cells(hBMSCs)of pure PCL.In vitro degradation experiments revealed that the composite material stably released Mg_(2)+ions for a long period;it formed an apatite layer on the surface of the scaffold that facilitated cell adhesion and growth.Microcomputed tomography and histological analysis showed that both 5 and 10 wt%Mg-1Ca/PCL composite scaffolds promoted bone regeneration bone defects.Our results indicated that the Wnt/β-catenin pathway was involved in the osteogenic effect.Therefore,Mg-1Ca/PCL composite scaffolds are expected to be a promising bone regeneration material for clinical application.Statement of significance:Bone tissue engineering scaffolds have promising applications in the regeneration of critical-sized bone defects.However,there remain many limitations in the materials and manufacturing methods used to fabricate scaffolds.This study shows that the developed Ma-1Ca/PCL composites provides scaffolds with suitable degradation rates and enhanced boneformation capabilities.Furthermore,the fused deposition modeling method allows precise control of the macroscopic morphology and microscopic porosity of the scaffold.The obtained porous scaffolds can significantly promote the regeneration of bone defects. 展开更多

Cancer is a major threat to human life worldwide. Traditional cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy and surgery, have major limitations and can cause irreversible damage to normal tissues while killing the cancer cells. Magnesium(Mg) alloys are widely reported novel potential biomedical materials with acceptable mechanical properties and good osteogenic and angiogenic properties. In this review, we summarize the Mg alloys for antitumor applications, including pure Mg and Mg alloys(Mg-Ag, Mg-Gd, Mg-Li-Zn, Mg-Ca-Sr-Zn, et al.) fabricated by casting and extruding, selective laser melting methods. Mg alloys can exhibit antitumor effect on bone tumor, breast cancer, and liver tumor,etal. What's more, after tumor tissue is eliminated, Mg alloys prevent tumor recurrence, fill tissue defects and promote tissue regeneration.The antitumor effects of Mg alloys are mainly due to their degradation products. Overall, Mg alloys show great potential in tumor treatments due to the dual function of antitumor and tissue regeneration. 展开更多

To ensure the safety and stability of power grids with photovoltaic(PV)gen eration integrati on,it is necessary to predict the output perform a nee of PV modules un der varyi ng operating con ditions.In this paper,an improved artificial neural network(ANN)method is proposed to predict the electrical characteristics of a PV module by combining several neural networks under different environmental conditions.To study the dependenee of the output performance on the solar irradianee and temperature,the proposed neural network model is composed of four neural networks,it called multineural network(MANN).Each neural network consists of three layers,in which the input is solar radiation,and the module temperature and output are five physical parameters of the single diode model.The experimental data were divided into four groups and used for training the neural networks.The electrical properties of PV modules,including l-V curves,PV curves,and normalized root mean square error,were obtained and discussed.The effectiveness and accuracy of this method is verified by the experimental data for d iff ere nt types of PV modules.Compared with the traditional single-ANN(SANN)method,the proposed method shows be社er accuracy under different operating conditions. 展开更多

The F-box protein-encoding gene family plays an essential role in plant stress resistance.In present study,126 non-redundant F-box genes were identified in barley(Hordeum vulgare L.,Hv).The corresponding proteins contained 165–887 amino acid residues and all were amphiphilic,except 5 proteins.Phylogenetic analysis of F-box protein sequences in barley and stress-related F-box protein sequences in wheat and Arabidopsis thaliana(At)was used to classify barley F-box genes are divided into 9 subfamilies(A–I).A structure-based sequence alignment demonstrated that F-box proteins were highly conserved with a total of 10 conserved motifs.In total,124 F-box genes were unevenly distributed on 7 chromosomes;another 2 genes have not been anchored yet.The gene structure analysis revealed high variability in the number of exons and introns in F-box genes.Comprehensive analysis of expression profiles and phylogenetic tree analysis,a total of 12 F-box genes that may be related to stress tolerance in barley were screened.Of the 12 detected F-box genes,8 and 10 were upregulated after drought and salt stress treatments,respectively,using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR).This study is the first systematic analysis conducted on the F-box gene family in barley,which is of great importance for clarifying this family’s bioinformatic characteristics and elucidating its function in barley stress resistance.These results will serve as a theoretical reference for subsequent research on molecular regulation mechanisms,genetic breeding,and improvement. 展开更多

The computer simulation is an important method for hydrokinetic hammer design. Various kinds of simulation measures with their technical characters and applications being taken during the computer aided design are enumerated. Computer simulation supports plenty of valuable references to the designer. Each type of simulation process is used to explore the exact aspect of the performance of hydrokinetic hammer and each type of simulation method has its own excellences and deficiencies. Thus the integrative simulation methods based on modern computational technology are brought forward to obtain the perfect capability of the whole product. Along with the development of computer hardware and software, various kinds of platforms have been provided to different simulation methods that can be carried out with distinct working flows. The jet flow element is the core part of the hydrokinetic hammer. We can build the ideal simulation model of it by means of CFD (computational fluid dynamics) technology. On the other hand, to set up the digital model of piston and hammer, the best way is to build the virtual prototype using automatic dynamic analysis of mechanical system. As a result of the argumentation, we think the technique of Virtual Prototype and CFD are the prime way to process the combined computer simulation for hydrokinetic hammer. 展开更多

Herein, a site-selective paired electrochemical C–H oxidation of functionalized alkyl arenes promoted by nickel catalyst is disclosed. A Ni(Ⅱ)-dioxygen species formed in situ efficiently enable the oxidation process under mild conditions with a broad substrate scope with excellent functional group compatibilities,such as free carboxylic acid, aldehyde, halogen(including aryl iodide), amide and amino acid. The use of the nickel catalyst in combination with water provides a safe, green and economical method for oxidation of a range of molecules varying in complexity and drug derivatives, demonstrating its potential application in organic synthesis and the pharmaceutical industry. Reaction outcomes and mechanistic studies revealed the key role of the in situ Ni(Ⅱ)-dioxygen species for the subsequent oxidation of C(sp^(3))–H bonds,and short-lived reactive intermediates(aryl radical cation) was rapidly captured by the combination of a bipolar ultramicroelectrode(BUME) with nano-electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. 展开更多

However, the limited drug-loading of dissol... Lidocaine hydrochloride(LIDH) as an anesthetic is widely used in local anesthesia. Dissolving microneedles(MNs) have great application value in the field of skin anesthesia. However, the limited drug-loading of dissolving MNs is an existing challenge that affects clinical use. In this study, we have screened isomaltulose(ISO) as the proper matrix material for the MNs by using molecular dynamics(MD) simulation. Our findings indicate that ISO has good compatibility with LIDH, and the LIDH-loaded ISO MNs(LI-MNs) have high drug-loading capacity. The drug-loading capacity of LI-MNs could reach 80%, and it could effectively puncture the skin. In addition, the preparation method of customized LI-MNs was established based on three-dimensional(3D) printing technology. It was shown that the administration time of LI-MNs could be controlled within 3 min. Also, the LI-MNs were able to provide the local anesthetic efficacy within2 min and sustained for more than 2 h. Significantly, LI-MNs had more efficient drug efficacy compared to the topical creams and the majority of existing LIDH-loaded dissolving MNs. They even provided a longer duration of action than the injections. Overall, the LI-MNs with high drug-loading have a promising application prospect. 展开更多

Here, we demonstrate the controlled generation of HOPS beams based on coherent beam combination from an Yb-doped multicore fiber(MCF) amplifier. Using a spatial light modulator to adaptively adjust the wavefront and polarization of the signals seeded into the individual cores of the MCF various structured beams(including cylindrical vector beams and first-and second-order vortex beams) were generated with peak powers up to 14 k W for ~92 ps pulses. 展开更多

We study a project management problem where the prime contractor needs to outsource tasks to subcontractors with the required resources.Successful execution of the project requires proper coordination among the subcontractors,as well as contract design by the prime contractor to incentivize the subcontractors.By modeling the subcontractors’coordination problem as a cooperative game,we develop a profit sharing scheme to facilitate the subcontractors’cooperation.We consider two contract designs for the prime contractor:a uniform contract across all subcontractors,and a nonuniform one that customizes incentives for each subcontractor.We propose efficient algorithms to solve the implicit optimization problems for optimal contract parameters.Computational experiments show that the pooling effect of subcontractors’cooperation mitigates the negative impact of poor estimates about the crashing cost and resource availability.We observe three unexpected results through the randomized computation experiments:(i)the subcontractors’profits may decrease if they provide false information;(ii)it is safer for the prime contractor to overestimate subcontractors’crashing costs than underestimate them;and(iii)uniform contracts deliver more project profit for the subcontractors in the coalitions. 展开更多

Nowadays 80%of scandium in China is obtained from titanium pigments production waste through a complex purification process.The study mainly focused on the purification of Sc from its concentrate generated from titanium pigments production waste by solvent extraction.Several extractants have been tried and 10%D_(2)EHPA-5%TBP-85%sulfonated kerosene exhibited the best extraction performance towards Sc in 7 mol/L H_(2)SO_(4)solution,so it was selected as the oil phase.0.5%of H_(2)O_(2)was added into the concentrated solution which can effectively inhibit the extraction of Ti.Both the extraction and back extraction parameters are optimized.The preferred extraction conditions were obtained,i.e.,acidity:7 mol/L H_(2)SO_(4),the phase ratio A/O:10,room temperature,mixed contact time:30 min,Sc concentrate:10 g/L,that the extraction rate of Sc in the above conditions was nearly 100%.NaOH was used for back extraction with the stripping rate 99%on the following conditions:5 mol/L NaOH stripping for 30 min at a phase ratio A/O:1 at 90℃.Finally,H_(2)C_(2)O_(4)was used to further purify the back extraction product and Sc_(2)(C_(2)O_(4))_(3)precipitant fo rmed.The final product Sc_(2)O_(3)with a purity over 99.5%was obtained by calcining Sc_(2)(C_(2)O_(4))_(3)at 1000℃for 2 h.A conceptual process for Sc purification was put forward and proved.The total recovery yield of Sc in the whole process is 95%. 展开更多

Guided bone regeneration membranes have been effectively applied in oral implantology to repair bone defects.However,typical resorbable membranes composed of collagen(Col)have insufficient mechanical properties and high degradation rate,while non-resorbable membranes need secondary surgery.Herein,we designed a photocrosslinkable collagen/polycaprolactone methacryloyl/magnesium(Col/PCLMA/Mg)composite membrane that provided spatiotemporal support effect after photocrosslinking.Magnesium particles were added to the PCLMA solution and Col/PCLMA and Col/PCLMA/Mg membranes were developed;Col membranes and PCL membranes were used as controls.After photocrosslinking,an interpenetrating polymer network was observed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM)in Col/PCL and Col/PCL/Mg membranes.The elastic modulus,swelling behavior,cytotoxicity,cell attachment,and cell proliferation of the membranes were evaluated.Degradation behavior in vivo and in vitro was monitored according to mass change and by SEM.The membranes were implanted into calvarial bone defects of rats for 8 weeks.The Col/PCL and Col/PCL/Mg membranes displayed much higher elastic modulus(p<0.05),and a lower swelling rate(p<0.05),than Col membranes,and there were no differences in cell biocompatibility among groups(p>0.05).The Col/PCL and Col/PCL/Mg membranes had lower degradation rates than the Col membranes,both in vivo and in vitro(p<0.05).The Col/PCL/Mg groups showed enhanced osteogenic capability compared with the Col groups at week 8(p<0.05).The Col/PCL/Mg composite membrane represents a new strategy to display space maintenance and enhance osteogenic potential,which meets clinical needs. 展开更多

A New Hybrid Machine Learning Model for Short-Term Climate Prediction by Performing Classification Prediction and Regression Prediction Simultaneously

Machine learning methods are effective tools for improving short-term climate prediction.However,commonly used methods often carry out classification and regression prediction modeling separately and independently.Such a single modeling approach may obtain inconsistent prediction results in classification and regression and thus may not meet the needs of practical applications well.To address this issue,this study proposes a selective Naive Bayes ensemble model(SENB-EM)by introducing causal effect and voting strategy on Naive Bayes.The new model can not only screen effective predictors but also perform classification and regression prediction simultaneously.After being applied to the area prediction of summer western North Pacific subtropical high(WNPSH)from 2008 to 2021,it is found that the accuracy classification score(a metric to assess the overall classification prediction accuracy)and the time correlation coefficient(TCC)of SENB-EM can reach 1.0 and 0.81,respectively.After integrating the results of different models[including multiple linear regression ensemble model(MLR-EM),SENB-EM,and Chinese Multimodel Ensemble Prediction System(CMME)used by National Climate Center(NCC)]for 2017-2021,the TCC of the ensemble results of SENB-EM and CMME can reach 0.92(the highest result among them).This indicates that the prediction results of the summer WNPSH area provided by SENB-EM have a high reference value for the real-time prediction.It is worth noting that,except for the numerical prediction results,the SENB-EM model can also give the range of numerical prediction intervals and predictions for anomalous degrees of the WNPSH area,thus providing more reference information for meteorological forecasters.Overall,as a new hybrid machine learning model,the SENB-EM has a good prediction ability;the approach of performing classification prediction and regression prediction simultaneously through integration is informative to short-term climate prediction. 展开更多

With the increase in the switching frequency and power density,DC-DC converters encounter more severe electromagnetic interference(EMI)problems.To suppress the common-mode EMI generated by converters,as well as maintain the high-power-density of converters,the active EMI filter(AEF)has attracted increasing interest owing to its small volume.The EMI suppression effect of the common single-stage single-sense single-injection AEF is confined because of the limited insertion loss,and the volume of the multi-stage AEF will be bulky.To solve this problem,this paper proposes a compact dual-current-injection current-sense current-compensation(DCJ-CSCC)AEF to increase the insertion loss in the entire conducted EMI frequency band,as well as considering the volume of the AEF.The structure and operating principle of the proposed AEF are introduced.Finally,taking a boost converter as an example,the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed DCJ-CSCC AEF were verified through a simulation and experiment,the results show that the proposed AEF has a better EMI suppression effect on the entire conducted EMI frequency band with a similar volume compared with existing single-injection feedforward current-sense current-compensation(FF-CSCC)and feedback current-sense current-compensation(FB-CSCC)AEFs.This paper provides a new selection for EMI suppression in DC-DC converters. 展开更多
