On this basis, a new nickel electrode for arc welding of ferritic ductile iron (QT400-17) was developed for the first time. The mechanical properties of its weld metal can match those of ferritic ductile iron. The width of carbide layer (WCL) in PFZ is significantly decreased, the welded joint has excellent machinability and the weld metal has high hot cracking resistance.
