Fibrolipoma is a rare benign tumour of palatine tonsil which may present a pedunculated lesion in oropharynx and can cause dysphagia, foreign body sensation in throat, sleep disturbance and voice change. Our patient presented with foreign body sensation in throat. Examination showed pedunculated polypoidal mass arising from right palatine tonsil, treated with tonsillectomy under general anaesthesia. Histopathological examination confirmed as fibrolipoma of tonsil. Malignant transformation in fibrolipoma is very rare but some cases have been reported. Hence patient was followed up for two years and no recurrence noted.展开更多

It is also known as rodent ulcer or basal cell epithelioma. The main mechanism suggested is prolonged exposure to high intensity ultraviolet rays, which causes DNA damage. Pigmented basal cell carcinoma is a rare variety of basal cell carcinoma. Usually, it presents as pigmented nodular mass over the nose or malar region. Other differential diagnoses of this mass, are malignant melanoma and seborrheic keratosis. Treatment of choice is surgical excision with 2 mm of margins.展开更多

Transmission electron microscopy measurement was performed on the undoped and doped ZnO nanoparticles. Compared to the undoped ZnO, Nd-doped ZnO nanoparticles showed enhanced photoluminescent and ferromagnetic properties. The Nd- doped ZnO nanoparticles also showed improved photocatalytic properties compared with the undoped ZnO nanoparticles. Furthermore, the effect of UV light irradiation was studied with thermoluminescence (TL) and photoluminescence (PL) measurement techniques. It was found that in case ofNd-doped ZnO nanoparticles TL intensity increased while the green emission in PL spectra decreased with UV-light irradiation. This was attributed to the production of more surface defects on UV irradiation on Nd-doping.展开更多
