Thus the key of the supply-side structural reform lies in breaking through the long-term path dependence and facilitating the transformation and innovation of socio-economic and urban development. This paper takes Shenzhen as the benchmark of the comparative study, and Guangzhou and Tianjin as the comparative object to analyze the contributions of the demand-side 'troika' – investment, consumption, and export, to economic growth from 1986 to 2015. Then, it introduces multiple growth elements on the supply-side to analyze the significant contribution elements in urban economic growth and their contribution degrees. Meanwhile, in combination with the economic development background and the policy guidance since the reform and opening up, the paper analyzes the characteristics of the development paths and their trends of the three cities. In the end, based on the comparative study, it carries out a discussion on the development path for mega-cities and their urban planning strategies at the new era from three perspectives.展开更多

By comparing specific urban design projects, it expounds similarities and differences between detailed control planning and urban design, hence putting forward recommendations for urban design implementation in terms of statutory status, implementation rules, and team building. The paper intends to clarify the stratified relationship between urban and rural planning and urban design, so as to avoid needless repetition and overlap of design, thereby enhancing the healthy development of the urban design discipline in China.展开更多

The study finds that the permanent population and GDP maintain the trend of concentrating to higher-level cities, and the central cities of Chengdu and Chongqing have an obvious status of polarization. The main city of Chongqing is relatively dependent on industry, while the main city of Chengdu is driven by service economy and has a stronger capacity of urban population concentration. Different from the traditional understanding, Chongqing’s regional central cities have realized rapid industry-driven growth, and their development is faster than that of Sichuan’s prefecture-level cities. Despite of a large outflow of population, county-level units have achieved high growth rate of urban population, and the in-situ urbanization is obvious. The spatial pattern shows an 'eastward inclination,' in which the development of western Chongqing is the most outstanding, while that of Chengdu Plain and southern Sichuan region with a better basis has slowed down, and the originally backward areas, such as northeastern Chongqing, southeastern Chongqing, and eastern Sichuan, have a prominent development.展开更多

The reuse of once-used, abandoned, or contaminated land in urban areas has become the focus for digging the potential of urban land resources and values. Binhai New Area, as the forefront of economic growth in China's development zones, has experienced rapid development in the past 30 years, where the brownfield regeneration issue is becoming increasingly prominent in the rapid process of urban industrial development and new town construction. In consideration of the large size of each single brownfield patch and serious petrochemical contamination, it is essential and valuable to carry out a research on the present status, problems, and regeneration strategies of brownfield in Binhai New Area.展开更多

This paper conducts a comparative study between the plate-houses constructed after Wenchuan earthquake and the temporary shelters in other countries on aspects including planning layout, area index, social psychology, economic cost, etc. In the Wenchuan case, statistics show that the FAR of the plate-house residential area is around 0.4, the number of supporting houses makes up 20% in the total house sets, the average floor area of each house is about 25 m^2 that occupies a land area of 60 m^2, and the per capita planned floor area is 7 m^2, which is far above the international recommended minimum standard of 3.5 m^2. Even if the area for residence, school, hospital, and other land use functions are all counted, the per capita planed land use area of China's plate-house area is still above the international recommended minimum standard, which is 30 m^2. This paper holds that China has been capable of the planning and construction of the physical space of plate-house, but the holistic concept and the systematic arrangement level still need further promotion.展开更多

This paper analyzes changes in research perspectives of urban regeneration in recent years at home and abroad and the innovative concept of inclusive development proposed in the context of globalization, finding that the connotation of urban regeneration in European countries has been gradually enriched in order to promote social integration. Based on this, the paper examines how Paris, the first European city, combined inclusive development and urban regeneration and addressed social integration and equity in urban regeneration by taking accessibility as a key point in solving the most fundamental transportation problems. Based on lessons learned from Paris in developing a barrier-free transportation system, it proposes specific optimization strategies at the micro level in accordance with the status quo of public transportation accessibility in Beijing’s urban regeneration.展开更多

China has unveiled guidelines on improving China’s strength in transportation. By 2035, an accessible travel service system should basically be built, according to the guidelines jointly released by the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council. It is of great practical significance to accelerate the construction of an accessible transportation environment in the new era, which can improve the equalization of public services and promote the safe, convenient, and comfortable travel of the disabled and the elderly. In line with the development status of transportation in China, and through an analysis on the requirements for building a country with a strong transportation network, this paper proposes the framework and content for the establishment of an accessible transportation system in China.展开更多
