The 2.5 m wide-field and high-resolution solar telescope(WeHoST)is currently under developing for solar observations.WeHoST aims to achieve high-resolution observations over a super-wide field of view(FOV)of5′×5′,and a desired resolution of 0.3″.To meet the scientific requirements of WeHoST,the ground-layer adaptive optics(GLAO)with a specially designed wave front sensing system is as the primary consideration.We introduce the GLAO configuration,particularly the wave front sensing scheme.Utilizing analytic method,we simulate the performance of both classical AO and GLAO systems,optimize the wave front sensing system,and evaluate GLAO performance in terms of PSF uniformity and correction improvement across whole FOV.The results indicate that,the classical AO will achieve diffraction-limited resolution;the suggested GLAO configuration will uniformly improve the seeing across the full 5′×5′FOV,reducing the FWHM across the axis FOV to less than0.3″(λ≥705 nm,r0≥11 cm),which is more than two times improvement.The specially designed wave front sensor schedule offers new potential for WeHoST’s GLAO,particularly the multi-FOV GLAO and the flexibility to select the detected area.These capabilities will significantly enhance the scientific output of the telescope. 展开更多

Two-dimensional(2 D) solar coronal magnetogram is difficult to be measured directly until now.From the previous knowledge,a general relation has been noticed that the brighter green-line brightness for corona,the higher coronal magnetic field intensity may correspond to.To try to further reveal the relationship between coronal green line brightness and magnetic field intensity,we use the 2 D coronal images observed by Yunnan Observatories Greenline Imaging System(YOGIS) of the 10 cm Lijiang coronagraph and the coronal magnetic field maps calculated from the current-free extrapolations with the photospheric magnetograms taken by Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager(HMI) on board the Solar Dynamics Observatory(SDO) spacecraft.In our analysis,we identified the coronal loop structures and construct two-dimensional maps of the corresponding magnetic field intensity in the plane of the sky(POS) above the limb.We derive the correlation coefficients between the coronal brightness and the magnetic field intensity for different heights of coronal layers.We further use a linear combination of a Gaussian and a quadratic profile to fit the correlation coefficients distribution,finding a largest correlation coefficient of 0.82 near 1.1 R(solar radii) where is almost the top of the closed loop system.For the small closed loop system identified,the correlation coefficient distributions crossing and covering the loop are calculated.We also investigate the correlation with extended heliocentric latitude zones and long period of one whole Carrington Rotation,finding again that the maximum correlation coefficient occurs at the same height.It is the first time for us to find that the correlation coefficients are high(all are larger than 0.8) at the loop-tops and showing poor correlation coefficients with some fluctuations near the feet of the coronal loops.Our findings indicate that,for the heating of the low-latitude closed loops,both DC(dissipation of currents) and AC(dissipation of Alfvén and magnetosonic waves) mechanisms should act simultaneously on the whole closed loop system while the DC mechanisms dominate in the loop-top regions.Therefore,in the distributions of the correlation coefficients with different heights of coronal layers,for both large-and small-scale latitude ranges,the coefficients can reach their maximum values at the same coronal height of 1.1 R,which may indicate the particular importance of the height of closed loops for studying the coupling of the local emission mechanism and the coronal magnetic fields,which maybe helpful for studying the origin of the low-speed solar wind. 展开更多

We installed two sets of Astronomical Site Monitoring Systems(ASMSs)at Lijiang Observatory(GMG),for the running of the 2.4-meter Lijiang optical telescope(LJT)and the 1.6-meter Multi-channel Photometric Survey Telescope(Mephisto).The Mephisto is under construction.The ASMS has been running on robotic mode since 2017.The core instruments:Cloud Sensor,All-Sky Camera and AutonomousDIMM that are developed by our group,together with the commercial Meteorological Station and Sky Quality Meter,are combined into the astronomical optical site monitoring system.The new Cloud Sensor's Cloud-Clear Relationship is presented for the first time,which is used to calculate the All-Sky cloud cover.We designed the Autonomous-DIMM located on a tower,with the same height as LJT.The seeing data have been observed for a full year.ASMS's data for the year 2019 are also analysed in detail,which are valuable to observers. 展开更多

The intensity of the green line(Fe ⅩⅣ 5303 A) is the strongest in the visible spectrum of the solar corona,and this line has been used as long-term powerful diagnostic tools for studying the coronal configurations and hot plasma dynamics.However,it remains unclear and an open question whether there exists close relationship between the green line intensities and the coronal extreme ultraviolet(EUV) line emissions for various coronal structures.In this paper,we use the green-line data by the Lijiang YOGIS Lyot coronagraph and the EUV data from the Solar Dynamics Observatory/Atmospheric Imaging Assembly instruments in order to perform direct comparisons and analyses,based on two algorithms developed to extract particular features in the low corona.It is found that,among the correlation coefficients obtained between the intensities of 5303 A and the EUV lines,the coefficients between the green line and the 211 A wavelength for different coronal structures and different limb locations always keep the highest values(ranging from 0.89 to 0.99),which has not been reported before.This result can be helpful and promising to link together the various physical processes involved at different heights in the corona by precisely tracking the bright loops or other features observed in 5303 A above the limb down to the correct surface locations revealed by the 211 A data.Furthermore,the ground-based observations of the coronal green line and the space-based EUV observations at 211 A can advantageously complement each other when there is a need. 展开更多

A large ground-based optical/infrared telescope is being planned for a world-class astronomical site in China.The cloud-free night percentage is the primary meteorological consideration for evaluating candidate sites.... A large ground-based optical/infrared telescope is being planned for a world-class astronomical site in China.The cloud-free night percentage is the primary meteorological consideration for evaluating candidate sites.The data from GMS and NOAA satellites and the MODIS instrument were utilized in this research,covering the period from 1996 to 2015.Our data analysis benefits from overlapping results from different independent teams as well as a uniform analysis of selected sites using GMS+NOAA data.Although significant ground-based monitoring is needed to validate these findings,we identify three different geographical regions with a high percentage of cloud-free conditions(~83%on average),which is slightly lower than at Mauna Kea and Cerro Armazones(~85%on average)and were chosen for the large international projects TMT and ELT respectively.Our study finds evidence that cloud distributions and the seasonal changes affected by the prevailing westerly winds and summer monsoons reduce the cloud cover in areas influenced by the westerlies.This is consistent with the expectations from climate change models and is suggestive that most of the identified sites will have reduced cloud cover in the future. 展开更多

In order to clarify the mutual effect between bituminite and anthracite in blends during industrial combustion, the influence of particle size and heating rate as well as oxygen concentration in atmosphere was analyzed. The results of non-isothermal thermogravimetric analysis indicated that the combustion behavior of blends was of great difference though blends were prepared with the same volatile content of 20%. The catalysis of bituminite to anthracite changed with the thermal and kinetic condition of combustion reaction, and consequently, blends with different collocations were suitable for various combustion environments. Superior combustion properties of some blends were achieved at high heating rates, while others might react faster under high oxygen-enriched atmosphere. Simultaneously, the volume model and unreacted core model as well as random pore model were introduced to fit the experimental data. The kinetic calculation results showed that the combustion of blends at different heating rates all agreed better with that of random pore model in comparison with the other two models, while the apparent activation energy of samples all decreased with the increase in heating rate. The similarity of functional group structure between bituminite and anthracite is closely related to the accordance in com-bustion stage of bituminite and anthracite in blends. 展开更多

Non-isothermal method was used to study gasification characteristics of three coal chars and one biomass char.Four chars were made from anthracite coal(A),bituminous coal(B),lignite coal(L),and wood refuse(W),respectively.The gasification process was studied by random pore model(RPM),unreacted core model(URCM)and volumetric model(VM).With an increase in metamorphic grade,the gasification reactivity of coal char decreased,and the gasification reactivity of biomass char was close to that of low metamorphic coal char.With an increase in heating rate,the gasification of all samples moved towards high temperature zone,and the whole gasification time decreased.It was concluded from kinetics analysis that the above-mentioned three models could be used to describe the gasification process of coal char,and the RPM fitted the best among the three models.In the RPM,the activation energies of gasification were193.9,225.3 and 202.8 kJ/mol for anthracite coal char,bituminous coal char and lignite coal char,respectively.The gasification process of biomass char could be described by the URCM and VM,while the URCM performed better.The activation energy of gasification of wood refuse char calculated by the URCM was 282.0 kJ/mol. 展开更多
