In the ELMy H-mode experiment,naturally occurring dust originating at the high-field side is clearly observed using the high-speed vacuum ultraviolet imaging system developed on the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak(EAST).The main ablation cloud shape is similar to the classical shape observed in pellet fueling experiments.However,during the dust penetration,an erupted secondary cloudlet with a bent‘cigar’shape is observed and moves upwards along the direction perpendicular to the magnetic field line,which is different to the obviation in the pellet fueling experiments.This may be due to the ion diamagnetic drift effect.The velocities of the secondary cloudlet are estimated to be 50–80 m s^(-1).In addition,a significant degradation of the plasma confinement is observed during the dust penetration. 展开更多

Reverse-sheared Alfv6n eigenmodes (RSAEs) have been observed by using an interferometer and ECE diagnostics in NBI heated ELMy H-mode plasma on EAST tokamak. A typical feature of these modes is a fast frequency sweeping upward from -80 kHz to -110 kHz in hundred milliseconds during which the plasma temperature, density and rotation keeps no change. Only core channels of the interferometer can observe these modes, implying a core localized mode. The ECE measurement further showed that these modes located at about ρ = 0.37-0.46, just around the position of qmin with ρ -0.4. These core localized modes are very weak in the magnetic fluctuations measured by mirnov probes mounted at the machine vacuum vessel. A multiple frequency fluctuation component, seemingly the so-called 'grand cascades', was also clearly observed on the ECE signal at ρ = 0.46. During the phase, a transient internal transport barrier (ITB) in ion temperature and toroidal rotation was observed and the ITB foot was just close to the position of qmin. A modulation of RSAE frequency by ELM event was observed and this modulation could be attributed to rotation decrease or qmin increase due to ELM. Further study of these modes in EAST can provide valuable constraints for the q profile measurement and will be important for the long pulse operation. 展开更多

A high-speed vacuum ultraviolet(VUV) imaging system has been developed on the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak(EAST), which selectively measures line emission with a central wavelength of 13.5 nm(CVI, n=4... A high-speed vacuum ultraviolet(VUV) imaging system has been developed on the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak(EAST), which selectively measures line emission with a central wavelength of 13.5 nm(CVI, n=4–2). It has been employed to study edge/pedestal plasma behavior in EAST. Edge localized mode(ELM)-induced filament structures have been captured by the VUV imaging system during the ELMy high confinement mode discharge with both high temporal and spatial resolutions. The typical features(i.e.poloidal width and pitch angle) of the observed filaments are quantitatively characterized based on the VUV imaging data, and the dependence of these features on basic plasma parameters is analyzed. It is found that the poloidal width is proportional to the heating power, and the pitch angle is inversely proportional to the edge safety factor q.95 The scatterplot shows a positive trend between the poloidal width and the ELM amplitude defined by the relative change in stored energy. These results are based on the condition that the perturbation induced by ELMs is confined to a narrow layer in the plasma. 展开更多

On the EAST tokamak,filament-like structures have been observed in ELMy H-mode discharges with a high-speed vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) imaging system.The topos,chronos and their weight can be obtained simultaneously by performing the so-called singular value decomposition (SVD) analysis of raw VUV imaging data.The fluctuation amplitude is observed to be suppressed and enhanced gradually in the edge localized mode (ELM) crash and pedestal recovery phase in the chronos,respectively,while filament-like structures can only be found in the pedestal recovery phase on the topos.The mode structure,i.e.m/n =36/9 (m and n are the poloidal and toroidal mode number,respectively) with ρ0 =0.95,w0 =0.07 (ρ0 and w0 denote the mode location and mode width,respectively) is derived by a comparison of the synthetic images and the experimental imaging data. 展开更多

An investigation into tungsten(W)impurity behaviors with the update of the EAST lower W divertor for H-mode has been carried out using SOLPS-ITER.This work aims to study the effect of external neon(Ne)impurity seeding on W impurity sputtering with the bundled charge state model.As the Ne seeding rate increases,plasma parameters,W concentration(C_(W)),and eroded W flux(Γ_(W)^(Ero))at both targets are compared and analyzed between the highly resolved bundled model‘jett’and the full W charge state model.The results indicate that‘jett’can produce divertor behaviors essentially in agreement with the full W charge state model.The bundled scheme with high resolution in low W charge states(<W^(20+))has no obvious effect on the Ne impurity distribution and thus little effect on W sputtering by Ne.Meanwhile,parametric scans of radial particle and thermal transport diffusivities(D_(⊥)andχ_(e,i))in the SOL are simulated using the‘jett’bundled model.The results indicate that the transport diffusivity variations have significant influences on the divertor parameters,especially for W impurity sputtering. 展开更多

The influence of a molybdenum dust buildup on plasma edge turbulence has been studied in the EAST tokamak.The motion of the dust from the upper divertor region is detected by a fast visible CCD camera,the XUV spectrometer arrays,and the EUV spectrometer.The MoXV emission intensity sharply increases compared with the spectral lines of various ionization states of other elements,which implies that the dust particles are the molybdenum impurities.The radial distribution of Mo^(14+)ion simulated by a simplified 1 D transport model indicates that the molybdenum dust mainly deposits in the pedestal bottom region.Moreover,it is observed that the coherent mode(CM)appears atρ=0.94 after the molybdenum impurities enter the main plasma region.The influx of molybdenum impurities results in increasing pedestal electron density and decreasing pedestal electron temperature in contrast to that before the event of impurities dropping.It is also found that the electron density gradient in the pedestal increases when the ablation of the molybdenum impurities is observed in the pedestal region.The qualitative experimental results indicate that the onset of CM is likely related to the increase of the density gradient and edge collisionality in the pedestal.In comparison to the density gradient,the enhancement of CM amplitude largely depends on the increase of the edge collisionality. 展开更多
