Application of Modified Benders Decomposition to Single-Stage Multi-Commodity Multi-Period Warehouse Location Problem: An Empirical Investigation

In the past, researchers have applied Bender’s decomposition to distribution problem and used feasibility constraint to speed up the performance of Bender’s decomposition. Further, the application of Branch and Bound to single-stage multi-commodity single-period warehouse location problem (SSMCSPWLP) with strong constraints has shown that they are more effective. It was also shown in the previous research (in the context of Branch and Bound Methodology) that hybrid formulation for the single-stage single-period multi-commodity warehouse location problem yielded superior results. In this paper we apply Benders’ decomposition to strong and weak formulations of single-stage multi-commodity multi-period warehouse location problem (SSMCMPWLP). As suggested in the previous literature we put feasibility constraints in the pure integer sub- problem to speed up the performance of Benders’ decomposition. We also develop an additional cut (constraint that is again added to pure integer sub-problem) and show that it further speeded up Benders’ Decomposition. This research led to the possibility of applying Benders’ Decomposition to the hybrid formulation of SSMCMPWLP in future.

Phytopharmacological evaluation and anti-asthmatic activity of Ficus religiosa leaves

Objective:To discuss phytopharmacological potential and anti-asthmatic activity of Ficus religiosa(F.religiosa)(L.).Methods:Fresh leaves of F.religiosa were obtained from Vastrapur Lake,Ahmedabad,and dried to obtain powder.Histamine and acetylcholine were used to guinea pigs to establish bronchospasm model.In in vivo study,the aqueous extract of F.religiosa leaves (AEFR) at doses of 150 and 300 mg/ kg was administrated to guinea pigs,and the broncho-protective activity of AEFR was compared with aminophylline at 25 mg/kg.While in in vitro study,and 10 g/mL,20 g/mL,30 g/mL of AEFRL was administrated to guinea pigs,respectively, and mast cell stabilizing activity of AEFR was compared with ketotifen at 10 g/mL.Results: In the in-vivo model,pre-treatment with aminophylline(25 mg/kg,ip.) could significantly delay the onset of histamine induced pre-convulsive dyspnea,compared with vehicle control. Administration of AEFRL(150 and 300 mg/kg,ip.) also produced significant effect on latency to develop histamine & acetylcholine induced pre-convulsive dyspnea.In the mast cell stabilizing model,AEFRL at 10,20 and 30μg/mL could significantly increase the number of intact cells. Conclusions:It can be concluded that AEFRL is effective on histamine & acetylcholine induced bronchospasm in guinea pigs.In addition,AEFRL can potentiate the number of intact cells in the mast cell stabilizing model._____________________________________________________

Developing Strong and Hybrid Formulation for the Single Stage Single Period Multi Commodity Warehouse Location Problem: Theoretical Framework and Empirical Investigation

We note that the Single Stage Single Period Multi Commodity Warehouse Location Problem (SSSPMCWLP) has been first attempted by Geoffrion and Graves [1], and that they use the weak formulation (in context of contribution of this paper). We give for the first time “strong” formulation of SSSPMCWLP. We notice advantages of strong formulation over weak formulation in terms of better bounds for yielding efficient Branch and Bound solutions. However, the computation time of “strong” formulation was discovered to be higher than that of the “weak” formulation, which was a major drawback in solving large size problems. To overcome this, we develop the hybrid strong formulation by adding only a few most promising demand and supply side strong constraints to the weak formulation of SSSPMCWLP. So, the formulations developed were put to test on various large size problems. Hybrid formulation is able to give better bound than the weak and takes much less CPU time than the strong formulation. So, a kind of trade off is achieved allowing efficiently solving large sized SSSPMCWLP in real times using hybrid formulation.

Developing a New Reformulation of Single Level Capacitated Lot Sizing Problem (SLCLSP) with Set up, Shortage and Inventory Costs

Formulation of SLCLSP given by Pochet and Wolsey [1] had set up, variables, inventory and shortage cost. We give a new reformulation where SLCLSP is reduced to set up and inventory variables. We find that this reformulation has less number of real variables than the reformulation of Pochet and Wolsey [1]. It is argued that this leads to computations advantages, and this is supported by the empirical investigation that we carried out.

Delonix regia： historic perspectives and modern phytochemical and pharmacological researches

Delonix regia(Bojer ex Hook)Raffin(Fabaceae),also known as flame of forest,is a semi-deciduous tree,distributed throughout Madagascar,India,Africa,and Northern Australia.Various parts of the plant are traditionally used for the treatment of different ailments such as inflammation,rheumatism,bronchitis,diabetes,anemia,fever,gynecological disorders,and pneumonia.The plant possess antioxidant,hepatoprotective,gastroprotective,wound healing,antiarthritic,larvicidal,antimalarial,antiemetic,antibacterial,antifungal,antiinflammatory,analgesic,antidiarrhoeal,antiheamolytic,diuretic,and anthelmintic activities.This review is an up-to-date compilation on its traditional uses in context to phytochemical and pharmacological perspectives.
