The present study analyzed the potential protective effect of berberine against amyloid β-induced cytotoxicity in rat cerebral cortical neurons. Alzheimer's disease cell models were treated with 0.5 and 2 μmol/L berberine for 36 hours to inhibit amyloid β-induced toxicity. Methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium assay and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling staining results showed that berberine significantly increased cell viability and reduced cell apoptosis in primary cultured rat cortical neurons. In addition, western blot analysis revealed a protective effect of berberine against amyloid β-induced toxicity in cultured cortical neurons, which coincided with significantly decreased abnormal up-regulation of activated caspase-3. These results showed that berberine exhibited a protective effect against amyloid β-induced cytotoxicity in cultured rat cortical neurons.展开更多
AIM:To investigate the effect of celecoxib,a selective COX-2 inhibitor,on Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori) colonization-related factors and its mechanism.METHODS:After co-incubation with celecoxib,morphology of H.pylori ...AIM:To investigate the effect of celecoxib,a selective COX-2 inhibitor,on Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori) colonization-related factors and its mechanism.METHODS:After co-incubation with celecoxib,morphology of H.pylori strain 26695 was observed under a transmission electron microscope.Flagella motility was assessed by stab agar motility test.Adherence of H.pylori to AGS cells was determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay.Levels of mRNA expression in flagellar genes(flaA,flaB),urease genes(ureA,ureB)and adhesin genes(babA,sabA,alpA,alpB,hpaA,hopZ)were measured by real-time polymerase chain reaction.RESULTS:Separation and non-integrity of bacterial cell wall,rarefaction and asymmetry of cytoplasm,and even lysis of H.pylori were observed in the presence of celecoxib.When H.pylori strains were incubated in the presence of celecoxib,their flagellar motility and adherence to AGS cells were inhibited.The expression of ureA,ureB,babA,sabA,alpA,alpB,hpaA,hopZ was up-regulated while the expression of flaA,flaB was down-regulated in the presence of celecoxib.CONCLUSION:Celecoxib inhibits flagellar motility and adherence of H.pylori to AGS cells,and destructs their normal structure in vitro.展开更多

Some formulas for the steady-state performance measures. such as the distribution of queue sizes, average queue length, degree of repairman utilization and so on. are then derived. Finally, the machine repair model and a multiple critcria decision-making method are applied to study machine assignment problem with a general service-time distribution to determine the optimum number of machines being serviced by one repairman.展开更多

The structure of 2 was characterized by single crysta...Reactions of SmI2 in THF with ArSSAr produced two binuclear samarium thiolate complexes [(THF)3I2- Sm(μ-SAr)]2 [Ar=Ph (1), 4-Me2NC6H4 (2)] in high yields. The structure of 2 was characterized by single crystal X-ray crystallography. The crystal of 2 belongs to the triclinic system with space group P 1 and a=0.95705(13) nm, b= 1.22287(14) nm, c= 1.26450(14) nm, a=64.194(11)°, B=78.491(13)°, y=76.176(12)°, V= 1.2860(3) nm^3, Z= 1,μ=4.783 mm^-1, Dc= 1.964 Mg/m^3, M= 1521.19, S= 1.046, R1=0.0358, wR2=0.0910. X-ray analysis revealed that 2 is a thiolate-bridged dimer in which each Sm atom adopts a distorted pentagonal bipyramidal coordi- nation geometry.展开更多
