The Fluorination of Boron-Doped Graphene for CF_(x) Cathode with Ultrahigh Energy Density

The enhancement of the fluorination degree of carbon fluorides(CF_(x))compounds is the most effective method to improve the energy densities of Li/CF_(x)batteries because the specific capacity of CF_(x)is proportional to the molar ratio of F to C atoms(F/C).In this study,B-doped graphene(BG)is prepared by using boric acid as the doping source and then the prepared BG is utilized as the starting material for the preparation of CF_(x).The B-doping enhances the F/C ratio of CF_(x)without hindering the electrochemical activity of the C–F bond.During the fluorination process,B-containing functional groups are removed from the graphene lattice.This facilitates the formation of a defect-rich graphene matrix,which not only enhances the F/C ratio due to abundant perfluorinated groups at the defective edges but also serves as the active site for extra Li+storage.The prepared CF_(x)exhibits the maximum specific capacity of 1204 mAh g^(−1),which is 39.2%higher than that of CF_(x)obtained directly from graphene oxide(without B-doping).An unprecedented energy density of 2974 Wh kg^(−1)is achieved for the asprepared CF_(x)samples,which is significantly higher than the theoretically calculated energy density of commercially available fluorinated graphite(2180 Wh kg^(−1)).Therefore,this study demonstrates a great potential of B-doping to realize the ultrahigh energy density of CF_(x)cathodes for practical applications.

SPDEF suppresses head and neck squamous cell carcinoma progression by transcriptionally activating NR4A1

SAM pointed domain containing E26 transformation-specific transcription factor(SPDEF)plays dual roles in the initiation and development of human malignancies.However,the biological role of SPDEF in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC)remains unclear.In this study,the expression level of SPDEF and its correlation with the clinical parameters of patients with HNSCC were determined using TCGA-HNSC,GSE65858,and our own clinical cohorts.CCK8,colony formation,cell cycle analysis,and a xenograft tumor growth model were used to determine the molecular functions of SPDEF in HNSCC.ChIP-qPCR,dual luciferase reporter assay,and rescue experiments were conducted to explore the potential molecular mechanism of SPDEF in HNSCC.Compared with normal epithelial tissues,SPDEF was significantly downregulated in HNSCC tissues.Patients with HNSCC with low SPDEF mRNA levels exhibited poor clinical outcomes.Restoring SPDEF inhibited HNSCC cell viability and colony formation and induced G0/G1 cell cycle arrest,while silencing SPDEF promoted cell proliferation in vitro.The xenograft tumor growth model showed that tumors with SPDEF overexpression had slower growth rates,smaller volumes,and lower weights.SPDEF could directly bind to the promoter region of NR4A1 and promoted its transcription,inducing the suppression of AKT,MAPK,and NF-κB signaling pathways.Moreover,silencing NR4A1 blocked the suppressive effect of SPDEF in HNSCC cells.Here,we demonstrate that SPDEF acts as a tumor suppressor by transcriptionally activating NR4A1 in HNSCC.Our findings provide novel insights into the molecular mechanism of SPDEF in tumorigenesis and a novel potential therapeutic target for HNSCC.

Homozygous loss-of-function mutations in FSIP2 cause male infertility with asthenoteratospermia

Male infertility, as a major issue of human reproduction health, prevents successful natural conception. Asthenoteratospermia mainly presents one or multiple anomalies in head, neck and tail of spermatozoa, and impairs sperm function and motility (Coutton et al., 2015). Recurrent abnormalities of the fibrous sheath lead to multiple morphological abnormaliries of the sperm flagella (MMAF), which is a quite frequent type of asthenoteratospermia in male infertility (Chemes et al., 1987;Ben Khelifa et al, 2014).

External Photocatalyst-Free Visible Light-Promoted 1,3-Addition of Perfluoroalkyl Iodides to Vinyldiazoacetates

Alkenes and alkynes are typical substrates used in atom transfer radical addition(ATRA)reactions,resulting in the formation of vicinal disubstituted products.In this report,vinyldiazoacetates were first developed as the radical acceptors in an ATRA reaction of RfI,leading to 1,3-difunctional adducts.The reaction is driven by visible light,without the need for external photocatalysts and additives.A series of control experiments and density functional theory(DFT)calculations indicate the 1,3-addition proceeds via a radical-chain process and the initial Rf radical was generated by homolytic dissociation of a radical pair complex of triplet free vinylcarbene and perfluoroalkyl iodide.After postreaction isomerization,various 1-iodo-3-perfluoroalkyl-alkenes were obtained in good yields with high Z selectivity.The synthetic utility of the ATRA 1,3-adduct was demonstrated by cross-coupling reactions and defluorination of perfluoroalkyl groups.

Increasing yield is one of the most important goals in crop breeding. Soybean （Glycine max L. Merr.）, one of the most economically important leguminous seed crops, provides the majority of plant proteins, and more than a quarter of the world＇s food and animal feed （Graham and Vance, 2003）. The yield of soybean is finally determined by the number of seeds per unit area, which affected by many characters, such as height, branching number, photosynthesis, seed size, seed number. The number of seeds per pod is taken for one of the critical components that related to yield （You et al., 1995）.

Variations regularity of microorganisms and corrosion of cast iron in water distribution system

Corrosion, one of the most common problems of metal pipe for water supply, generally leads to poor water quality, bacteria proliferation, water capacity decrease and other problems. As microorganisms affect corrosion by changing the characteristics of metal surface, the mechanism of microbial corrosion still remains unclear. The corrosion behavior of ductile cast iron is implemented in the dynamic flow and static conditions, in which variations of water quality and microbial community are analyzed in details. The results show that if the corrosion rate of ductile cast iron decreases, the corrosion of cast iron will result in a lower DO and a higher total iron in bulk water. The number of microorganisms is not a decisive factor of corrosion, even though the counts of bacteria had a close relationship with DO. On the basis of the detection of the 10 kinds of nitratereducing bacteria by Miseq sequencing, NRB of the biofilm biomass accounts for 18.3% on the 30 th day and 20.5% on the 55 th day. Even though aerobic NRBs go into the biofilm later than the facultative anaerobic NRBs, the growth of the anaerobic NRBs is not affected.

Novel compound heterozygous variants in dynein axonemal heavy chain 17 cause asthenoteratospermia with sperm flagellar defects

The axoneme of the human sperm has a very similar ultrastructure to motile cilia,the"9+2"structure,comprising nine peripheral double microtubules plus two central pairs(Nicastro et al.,2006;Ishikawa,2017).A proteomics analysis identified more than700 proteins exclusively in the sperm tail,and abnormal expression of related genes can cause male infertility with multiple morphological abnormalities of flagella(MMAF),including absent,coiled,short,and irregular-caliber flagella(Baker et al.,2013;Coutton et al.,2015).

Basic requirements of dunk tank settings and verification of the disinfection effect in high-level biosafety laboratories

This study presents the structure and application of dunk tanks in high-level biosafety laboratories.The test methods and sterilization effects of dunk tanks were evaluated by using Bacillus subtilis as indicator.Results showed that sterilization effects of dunk tanks could be achieved by immersing the goods in 0.5%sodium hypochlorite disinfectant solution for 30 min at room temperature.Neutralizer sodium thiosulfate had no effect on the growth of Bacillus subtilis,and thus would not affect the disinfection results of sodium hypochlorite.Furthermore,suggestions for safe operation of dunk tanks are also provided in this study.
