This paper puts forward the idea of an electronic compass that is capable of sensing the change of a magnetic field generated by a magnet and translating it into interpretable data, which could act as the base for the further studies and assist in developing a greener automated system for detecting this device. The electronic compass is specifically chosen for reducing power consumption of systems in addition to the fact that it is available at a low cost. 展开更多

Recently, many studies propose the use of ultra-wideband technology for passive and active radio frequency identification systems as well as for wireless sensor networks due to its numerous advantages. By harvesting these advantages of IR-UWB technology at the physical-layer design, this paper proposes that a cross layer architecture platform can be considered as a good integrator for different wireless short-ranges indoor protocols into a universal smart wireless-tagged architecture with new promising applications in cognitive radio for future applications. Adaptive transmission algorithms have been studied to show the trade-off between different specific QoS requirements, transmission rates and distances at the physical layer level and this type of dynamic optimization and reconfiguration leads to the cross-layer design proposal in the paper. Studies from both theoretical simulation and statistical indoor environments experiments are considered as a proof of concept for the proposed architecture. 展开更多

Impulse based Ultra wideband technology has been the motivation of many recent researches with the potential of many applications to be researched. The uniqueness of the physical characteristics of the generated signal combined with the high flexibility of for different data rates at the physical layer design level have been addressed in considerable number of researches recently. This paper presents in depth reviews of the different concepts of tunable impulse based ultra wideband from the different researchers views. Research proposals of Cross layer architectures as PHY-MAC aware Impulse based ultra wideband solutions, link-budget communication design with performance evaluations in different test beds implementations are investigated in this paper. Such in-depth review can help researchers in this field to have better understanding of the different possibilities of designing new impulse-based ultra wideband solutions for future potential communication scenarios. Special focus on utilizing the advantage of impulse-based ultra wideband signal design flexibility as integrator for different short to medium wireless infrastructures mainly sharing common design constraints and requirements. Finding remarks from reviewing nearest-field literature combined with researches benchmarking to inspire researches proposal for this topic. 展开更多
