The aim of this study is to assess the status of treatment of chronic prostatitis(CP)in Chinese men.A population-based cross-sectional survey was performed,in which 15000 men aged between 15 and 60 years were randomly...The aim of this study is to assess the status of treatment of chronic prostatitis(CP)in Chinese men.A population-based cross-sectional survey was performed,in which 15000 men aged between 15 and 60 years were randomly selected to receive a questionnaire designed to assess National Institutes of Health Chronic Prostatitis Symptoms Index(NIH-CPSI)status,therapeutic efficacy and 28 other items.A total of 12743 men(84.95%)completed the questionnaire,of whom 1071(8.4%)were identified as having prostatitis-like symptoms and 517(4.5%)were diagnosed with CP according to NIH-CPSI criteria and prostatitis-like symptomatology.Of the CP patients,372(65%)underwent long-term routine treatment 12 times per year.Additionally,217(72.8%)patients received antibiotic therapy and 215(79.3%)men showed therapeutic effects.The treatment cost USD 1151(8059 yuan)per person per year on average.Most CP patients received routine treatment,in most cases with antibiotics.Treatment was costly and most CP patients were not satisfied with its effectiveness.Antibacterial treatment might have been effective primarily in patients with bacterial disease.展开更多
Accumulating evidence has revealed many clues that regular aerobic exercise benefits brain health and behaviors.The aims of this study were to explore the effect of aerobic exercise on ejaculatory behaviors,as well as...Accumulating evidence has revealed many clues that regular aerobic exercise benefits brain health and behaviors.The aims of this study were to explore the effect of aerobic exercise on ejaculatory behaviors,as well as to make a preliminary assessment of aerobic exercise as a complementary strategy to dapoxetine treatment in rapid ejaculators.Copulatory tests of rats and a treadmill training protocol were performed in this study.In total,12 rapid ejaculators were selected on the basis of ejaculation distribution theory and randomly assigned to 4 groups:control(Ctrol)group,aerobic exercise(Ex)group,dapoxetine(Dapo)group,and Ex+Dapo group.We evaluated the changes in ejaculatory parameters in the 4 groups.Variations in biological markers,including serum corticosterone,serotonin(5-HT),and brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF)of the raphe nucleus,were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The primary finding of our study was that both aerobic exercise and acute dapoxetine could enhance ejaculation control and prolong ejaculation latency in rapid ejaculator rats.The ejaculation delay effect of aerobic exercise was nearly equivalent to that of acute dapoxetine.In addition,both aerobic exercise and dapoxetine treatment could lead to increased expression of BDNF and 5-HT in the raphe nucleus of rapid ejaculators.Moreover,the two interventions,when applied together,may further upregulate the expression of BDNF-5-HT duo in a complementary manner.This study highlights the positive effects of aerobic exercise on ejaculation control.Regular aerobic exercise might be a promising complementary treatment to dapoxetine in rats.展开更多
In this research, the flame retardancy of neat alginate fiber, flame retardant viscose fiber(FRV) and alginate/FRV(50/50) blending fibers were investigated by vertical burning and cone calorimeter tests.The vertical b...In this research, the flame retardancy of neat alginate fiber, flame retardant viscose fiber(FRV) and alginate/FRV(50/50) blending fibers were investigated by vertical burning and cone calorimeter tests.The vertical burning test showed that the afterflame time of alginate fiber was 0 s, but alginate presented serious smoldering behavior with the afterglow time of 605 s and damaged length of 85 mm, while the afterglow time of FRV was 0 s. When the FRV was incorporated into alginate with the weight ratio of 50/50, the afterglow time and damaged length were significantly reduced to 85 s and 35 mm, indicating the smoldering of alginate can be effectively decreased. The morphology and chemical structure of the alginate residual demonstrated that it was seriously destroyed during smoldering process, which was ascribed to its relative low initial thermal degradation temperature. Based on the thermal properties analysis, alginate and FRV fibers shared the concurrence of rapid degradation in the same temperature region of 250-300 ℃, through which, the compact and stable char formed by FRV can prevent the heat transmission and suppress the smoldering of alginate. Further, the cone calorimeter results demonstrated that the time to ignition(TTI) significantly increased and peak heat release rate(PHRR)decreased for alginate/FRV(50/50) compared with FRV. In this study, we analyzed gene expression in kinβγ mutant pollen by RNA-seq and found the expression of inward shaker K^+ channel SPIK was down-regulated in the kinβγ pollen. Nonobstructive azoospermia(NOA)is a common cause of infertility and is defined as the complete absence of sperm in ejaculation due to defective spermatogenesis.The aim of this study was to identify the genetic etiolog...Nonobstructive azoospermia(NOA)is a common cause of infertility and is defined as the complete absence of sperm in ejaculation due to defective spermatogenesis.The aim of this study was to identify the genetic etiology of NOA in an infertile male from a Chinese consanguineous family.A homozygous missense variant of the membrane-bound O-acyltransferase domain-containing 1(MBOAT1)gene(c.770C>T,p.Thr257Met)was found by whole-exome sequencing(WES).Bioinformatic analysis also showed that this variant was a pathogenic variant and that the amino acid residue in MBOAT1 was highly conserved in mammals.Quantitative polymerase chain reaction(Q-PCR)analysis showed that the mRNA level of MBOAT1 in the patient was 22.0%lower than that in his father.Furthermore,we screened variants of MBOAT1 in a broader population and found an additional homozygous variant of the MBOAT1 gene in 123 infertile men.Our data identified homozygous variants of the MBOAT1 gene associated with male infertility.This study will provide new insights for researchers to understand the molecular mechanisms of male infertility and will help clinicians make accurate diagnoses.展开更多
