We report a 51-year-old female patient with a solitary lymphangioma located in the upper splenic pole which was managed successfully with laparoscopic partial splenectomy.Surgery lasted 170 min and did not require blo...We report a 51-year-old female patient with a solitary lymphangioma located in the upper splenic pole which was managed successfully with laparoscopic partial splenectomy.Surgery lasted 170 min and did not require blood transfusions.The patient recovered well post-operatively and was asymptomatic at the 3-mo follow-up.She had a normal platelet count and no recurrence on ultrasonography or computed tomography.Laparoscopic partial splenectomy is a safe,minimally invasive technique for the treatment of solitary splenic lymphangiomas in the splenic pole.We performed the procedure using the HabibTM 4X device.This laparoscopic bipolar radiofrequency device ensured a "bloodless" splenic parenchymal resection.展开更多

In this study, piRNA libraries derived from the adult gonads of Japanese flounder (Paralichthys ofivaceu...Piwi-interacting RNA (piRNA) plays an important role in the gonadal development and maintenance of Teleostei. In this study, piRNA libraries derived from the adult gonads of Japanese flounder (Paralichthys ofivaceus) were generated using next-generation sequencing technology. Using zebrafish piRNAs as a reference, 5 865 unique candidate piRNAs were identified; 289 candidate piRNA clusters (PRCs) were generated from the above piRNAs. Among the isolated candidate PRCs, a total of 38 ovary-specific, 45 ovary-bias, 24 testis-specific, and 131 testis-bias PRCs were found. The relative expression levels of seven PRCs were validated through quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. The results of this study will help facilitate exploration of the development and maintenance of the phenotypic sex mechanism in P. olivaceus.展开更多

Objective::To investigate the neuroprotective effects of simvastatin on lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-indueed rat model of Parkinson's disease(PD) and the mechanisms involved.Methods:Hemiparkinsonian rat models were ind...Objective::To investigate the neuroprotective effects of simvastatin on lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-indueed rat model of Parkinson's disease(PD) and the mechanisms involved.Methods:Hemiparkinsonian rat models were induced by stereotaxieal injection of LPS in the right substantia nigra compacts.After 2 weeks of simvastatin treatment,rotational behavior test was performed after the intraperitoneal injection of apomorphine.Expression of tyroxine hydroxylase(TH) and glial fibrillan acidic protein were analyzed through immunohistochemical staining of substantia nigra and striatum,and the level of TNF-α was evaluated using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Results:Comparing with untreated group,behavioral symptoms of the rats were significantly less in the rats that received simvastatin treatment.The TH positive cell count in substantia nigra and striatum were significantly increased(P<0.05) and TNF- α expression was significantly decreased(P<0.05) in simvastatin group compared to untreated group.Conclusions:Simvastatin could effectively inhibit the activation of astrocytes,reduce TNF-α expression,and exert anti-inflammatory effects,and thus protect the dopaminergic neurons in substantia nigra and striatum of the rat model of PD.展开更多

In order to achieve this, a marked seam image database and parametric seam models have been set up. Given a real seam image, we first identify the type of the seam image based on our marked semn image database and the seam parameters are parsed automatically by our sewing thread estimation method. Second the seam initial model is generated through the pre-defined parametric seam models. A garment model with the seam structure is finally obtained based on the seam position infrmation which users have marked on the garment. Moreover. we verify the effectiveness of our method with numerous experiments.展开更多
Different types of cloth show distinctive appearances owing to their unique yarn-level geometrical details.Despite its importance in applications such as cloth rendering and simulation,capturing yarn-level geometry is...Different types of cloth show distinctive appearances owing to their unique yarn-level geometrical details.Despite its importance in applications such as cloth rendering and simulation,capturing yarn-level geometry is nontrivial and requires special hardware,e.g.,computed tomography scanners,for conventional methods.In this paper,we propose a novel method that can produce the yarn-level geometry of real cloth using a single micro-image,captured by a consumer digital camera with a macro lens.Given a single input image,our method estimates the large-scale yarn geometry by image shading,and the fine-scale fiber details can be recovered via the proposed fiber tracing and generation algorithms.Experimental results indicate that our method can capture the detailed yarn-level geometry of a wide range of cloth and reproduce plausible cloth appearances.展开更多
