Source analysis of dissolved heavy metals in the Shaying River Basin,China

Over the years,the Shaying River Basin has experienced frequent instances of river pollution.The presence of numerous critical pollutant discharge enterprises and sewage-treatment plants in the vicinity of the Shaying River has transformed it a major tributary with relatively serious pollution challenge within the upper reaches of Huaihe River Basin.To study the sources of manganese(Mn),chromium(Cr),nickel(Ni),arsenic(As),cadmium(Cd)and lead(Pb)in Shaying River water,123 sets of surface water samples were collected from 41 sampling points across the entire basin during three distinct phases from 2019 to 2020,encompassing normal water period,dry season and wet season.The primary origins of heavy metals in river water were determined by analyzing the heavy metal contents in urban sewage wastewater,industrial sewage wastewater,groundwater,mine water,and the heavy metal contributions from agricultural non-point source pollution.The analytical findings reveal that Mn primarily originates from shallow groundwater used for agricultural irrigation,While Cr mainly is primarily sourced from urban sewage treatment plant effluents,coal washing wastewater,tannery wastewater,and industrial discharge related to metal processing and manufacturing.Ni is mainly contributed by urban sewage treatment plant effluents and industrial wastewater streams associated with machinery manufacturing and metal processing.Cd primarily linked to industrial wastewater,particularly from machinery manufacturing and metal processing facilities,while Pb is predominantly associated with urban sewage treatment plant effluents and wastewater generated in Pb processing and recycling wastewater.These research provides a crucial foundation for addressing the prevention and control of dissolved heavy metals at their sources in the Shaying River. 展开更多

Objective:To compare the difference in the clinical therapeutic effect on dysmenorrhea in the patients with adenomyosis between acupuncture and ibuprofen sustained release capsules.Methods:A total of 40 patients were randomized into an acupuncture group and an ibuprofen group,20 cases in each one.The treatment was given consecutively for 3 menstrual cycles and the follow-up lasted for 2 menstrual cycles.The score of visual analogue scale(VAS) at the most painful time during menstruation,menstrual flow,the score of COX menstrual symptom scale(CMSS) and the score of endometriosis health profile-5(EHP-5),as well as the patients’ satisfaction and acceptance were compared between the two groups.Results:Three menstrual cycles after treatment,the VAS score at the most painful time,menstrual flow,CMSS score and EHP-5 score were all lower than those before treatment in either group,with statistical significance(all P <0.05).Three menstrual cycles after treatment,compared with the ibuprofen group,in the acupuncture group,the VAS score at the most painful time was slightly higher(P> 0.05),the menstrual flow was lower(P> 0.05),CMSS score was higher(P <0.05) and EHP-5 was higher(P> 0.05).The score of the patients’ satisfaction and acceptance in the acupuncture group were all higher than the ibuprofen group(both P <0.05).In 2-menstrual cycles follow-up,the VAS score at the most painful time,menstrual flow,CMSS score and EHP-5 score in the acupuncture group were all lower than those in the ibuprofen group(all P <0.05).Conclusion:Acupuncture is effective for analgesia and symptom-relief and the long-term effect is superior to the oral administration of ibuprofen. 展开更多

The service life of a blast furnace depends largely on the degree of damage to the carbon brick in the hearth.Carbon brick and ramming material in the hearth of a 1780 m3 blast furnace after shutdown were sampled and investigated.It was found that the substances in the cracks of the carbon brick near and above the taphole were ZnO and Zn_(2)SiO_(4),whereas the substances in the cracks of the carbon brick below the taphole were ZnS.The reaction of Zn with CO,SiO_(2),and Fes generates ZnO,Zn_(2)SiO_(4),and ZnS,resulting in volume expansion,which is an important reason for the cracking of carbon brick.Simultaneously,several obvious Zn vapor flow channels were found in the ramming material,through which Zn vapor could enter the carbon brick,causing damage to the carbon brick.Increasing the compactness of the ramming material is beneficial to preventing Zn vapor from entering the carbon brick through the voids in the ramming material,reducing the destructive effect of Zn on the carbon brick and further extending the service life of the blast furnace. 展开更多
