Here, we cond...BACKGROUND Observational studies suggest inverse associations between serum vitamin levels and the risk of heart failure(HF). However, the causal effects of vitamins on HF have not been fully elucidated. Here, we conducted a Mendelian randomization(MR) study to investigate the causal associations between genetically determined vitamin levels and HF.METHODS Genetic instrumental variables for circulating vitamin levels, including vitamins A, B, C, D, and E, which were assessed as either absolute or metabolite levels were obtained from public genome-wide association studies. Summary statistics for single-nucleotide-polymorphisms and HF associations were retrieved from the HERMES Consortium(47,309 cases and 930,014controls) and FinnGen Study(30,098 cases and 229,612 controls). Two-sample MR analyses were implemented to assess the causality between vitamin levels and HF per outcome database, and the results were subsequently combined by meta-analysis.RESULTS Our MR study did not find significant associations between genetically determined circulating vitamin levels and HF risk. For absolute vitamin levels, the odds ratio for HF ranged from 0.97(95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.85–1.09, P = 0.41) for vitamin C to 1.05(95% CI: 0.61–1.82, P = 0.85) for vitamin A. For vitamin metabolites, the odds ratio ranged between 0.94(95% CI:0.75–1.19, P = 0.62) for α-tocopherol and 1.11(95% CI: 0.98–1.26, P = 0.09) for γ-tocopherol.CONCLUSION Evidence from our study does not support the causal effects of circulating vitamin levels on HF. Therefore,there may be no direct beneficial effects of vitamin intake on the prevention of primary HF.展开更多

The effect of N_(2)-plasma-treated SiO_(2) interfacial layer on the interfacial and electrical characteristics of HfO_(2)/SiO_(2)/p-Si stacks grown by atomic layer deposition(ALD) was investigated.The microstructure a...The effect of N_(2)-plasma-treated SiO_(2) interfacial layer on the interfacial and electrical characteristics of HfO_(2)/SiO_(2)/p-Si stacks grown by atomic layer deposition(ALD) was investigated.The microstructure and interfacial chemical bonding configuration of the HfO_(2)/SiO_(2)/Si stacks were also examined by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).Compared with the samples without N2-plasma treatment,it is found that the samples with N2-plasma treatment have less oxygen vacancy density for SiO_(2) interfacial layer and better HfO_(2)/SiO_(2) interface.In agreement with XPS analyses,electrical measurements of the samples with N2-plasma treatment show better interfacial quality,including lower interface-state density(Dit,9.3 × 1011 cm^(-2)·eV^(-1) near midgap) and lower oxidecharge density(Q_(ox),2.5 × 1012 cm^(-2)),than those of the samples without N_(2)-plasma treatment.Additionally,the samples with N_(2)-plasma treatment have better electrical performances,including higher saturation capacitance density(1.49 μF·cm^(-2)) and lower leakage current density(3.2 × 10^(-6) A·cm^(-2) at V_(g)=V_(fb)-1 V).Furthermore,constant voltage stress was applied on the gate electrode to investigate the reliability of these samples.It shows that the samples with N_(2)-plasma treatment have better electrical stability than the samples without N_(2)-plasma treatment.展开更多
Meat quality traits of four genotypes of Chinese indigenous chicken [Ninghai chicken(NC),frizzle chicken(FC),Ninghai xiang chicken(XC),and Zhenning loquat chicken(LC)] and one genotype of commercial broiler [Arbor Acr...Meat quality traits of four genotypes of Chinese indigenous chicken [Ninghai chicken(NC),frizzle chicken(FC),Ninghai xiang chicken(XC),and Zhenning loquat chicken(LC)] and one genotype of commercial broiler [Arbor Acres plus broiler(AAB)] were analyzed.The indigenous chickens were raised before the commercial chickens in order to achieve the same final processed days.Indigenous chickens of NC,FC,XC,and LC showed significantly higher inosine-5′-monophosphate(IMP) content,shorter fiber diameter,and lower shear force than those of AAB(P<0.05).In the indigenous genotypes,NC and FC had significantly shorter fiber diameters and lower shear forces than XC and LC(P<0.05),and NC and XC had a higher IMP content than FC and LC(P<0.05).Moreover,the indigenous genotype of LC significantly displayed the highest protein content(P<0.05) in the five genotypes of birds,and no significant differences of protein content were found between the other genotypes of NC,FC,XC,and AAB(P>0.05).The indigenous chickens from FC displayed the highest total lipid content in the five bird genotypes(P<0.05).Significant differences of pH,color values of L* and a*,and drip loss for the five genotypes of birds were also observed.In conclusion,there were significant differences in the meat quality traits of the bird breeds selected in this study,and the indigenous chickens,especially the NC genotype,produced better quality meat as far as the IMP content,fiber diameters,and shear forces were concerned.展开更多
This paper introduces a feasible process to achieve the molybdenum disulfide atomic layers using chemical vapor deposition(CVD) method,with molybdenum thin film and solid sulfur as precursors.And some improvements wer...This paper introduces a feasible process to achieve the molybdenum disulfide atomic layers using chemical vapor deposition(CVD) method,with molybdenum thin film and solid sulfur as precursors.And some improvements were made to reduce the amount of metastable MoS_(2)-3 R.The morphology of the acquired MoS_(2) layers,existing as triangular flakes or large-area continuous films,can be controlled by adjusting the synthesis time and reacting temperature.The characterization results show that the monolayer MoS_(2) flakes reveal a(002)-oriented growth on SiO_(2)/Si substrates,and its crystalline domain size is approximately 30 μm,and the thickness is 0.65 nm.Since the synthesis of MoS_(2)-3 R is restrained,the electronic transport properties of MoS_(2) with different layers were investigated,revealing that those properties equal with those of MoS_(2) samples prepared by exfoliation methods.展开更多

By grafting amino groups on the particle surface, the dispersion of SiNPs in water became very stable and clear aqueous solutions could be obtained. By incorporating SiNPs-NH2 into the hole transport layer of poly(3,4- ethylenedioxythiophene)/polystyrene sulfonic acid (PEDOT'PSS), the performance of polymer solar cells composed of poly[2-methoxy,5-(2'-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4-phenylene vinylene] (MEH-PPV):[6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) as active layer can be improved. SiNPs-NH2 are dispersed uniformly in the PEDOT:PSS solution and help form morphologies with small-sized domains in the PEDOT:PSS film. SiNPs-NH2 serve as screens between conducting polymer PEDOT and ionomer PSS to improve the phase separation and charge transport of the hole transport layer. As a result, the sheet resistance of PEDOT:PSS thin films is decreased from (93 ±5) × 10^5 to (13 ± 3) × 10^5 Ω/□. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of polymer solar cells was thus improved by 9.8% for devices fabricated with PEDOT'PSS containing 1 wt% of SiNPs-NH2, compared with the devices fabricated by original PEDOT:PSS.展开更多

The complete infiltration of P3HT between CdS nanorods interspacing was verified by scanning electron microscopy. By employing absorption and photoluminescence spectra, and current-voltage characterization the interaction between N719 molecules and CdS nanorods/P3HT interface was explored, and the role of N719 dye on the improvement of device performance was discussed.展开更多
