Two offline bias correction methods for sea surface temperature(SST) forecasts have been developed in this study: a backpropagation neural network(BPNN) algorithm, and a hybrid algorithm of empirical orthogonal function(EOF) analysis and BPNN(named EOF-BPNN). The performances of these two methods are validated using bias correction experiments implemented in the South China Sea(SCS), in which the target dataset is a six-year(2003–2008) daily mean time series of SST retrospective forecasts for one-day in advance, obtained from a regional ocean forecast and analysis system called the China Ocean Reanalysis(CORA),and the reference time series is the gridded satellite-based SST. The bias-correction results show that the two methods have similar good skills;however, the EOF-BPNN method is more than five times faster than the BPNN method. Before applying the bias correction, the basin-wide climatological error of the daily mean CORA SST retrospective forecasts in the SCS is up to-3°C;now, it is minimized substantially, falling within the error range(±0.5°C) of the satellite SST data.展开更多
Empirical orthogonal function(EOF)analysis was applied to a 50-year long time series of monthly mean positions of the Kuroshio path south of Japan from a regional reanalysis.Three leading EOF modes characterize the co...Empirical orthogonal function(EOF)analysis was applied to a 50-year long time series of monthly mean positions of the Kuroshio path south of Japan from a regional reanalysis.Three leading EOF modes characterize the contributions from three typical paths of the Kuroshio meander:the typical large meander path,the offshore nonlarge meander path,and the nearshore non-large meander path,respectively.Accordingly,the spatial variation characteristics of oceanic anomaly fields can be depicted by their regression fields upon the associated three leading principal components(PCs),which are well-matched with the results of composite analysis corresponding to each period of the three typical Kuroshio paths.A new index for the typical large meander is defined by using the second leading PC,which is highly correlated with the Kushimoto-Uragami index.Spectral analysis of this new index series shows variability of the Kuroshio path south of Japan at time scales of about 7–8 years and 20 years.展开更多
The stability of Non-Linear Feedback Shift Registers(NFSRs)plays an important role in the cryptographic security.Due to the complexity of nonlinear systems and the lack of efficient algebraic tools,the theorems relate...The stability of Non-Linear Feedback Shift Registers(NFSRs)plays an important role in the cryptographic security.Due to the complexity of nonlinear systems and the lack of efficient algebraic tools,the theorems related to the stability of NFSRs are still not well-developed.In this paper,we view the NFSR with periodic inputs as a Boolean control network.Based on the mathematical tool of semi-tensor product(STP),the Boolean network can be mapped into an algebraic form.Through these basic theories,we analyze the state space of non-autonomous NFSRs,and discuss the stability of an NFSR with periodic inputs of limited length or unlimited length.The simulation results are provided to prove the efficiency of the model.Based on these works,we can provide a method to analyze the stability of the NFSR with periodic input,including limited length and unlimited length.By this,we can efficiently reduce the computational complexity,and its efficiency is demonstrated by applying the theorem in simulations dealing with the stability of a non-autonomous NFSR.展开更多

Aiming at the practical problems such as the large workload but inaccurate data of the traditional loss and dilution calculation method, this thesis introduces the operating principle and process of calculating the loss rate and dilution rate at the mining fields by adopting geological models. As an example, authors establishes 3D models of orebody units in the exhausted area and mining fields in Yangshu Gold Mine in Liaoning Province, and conduct Boolean calculation among the models to obtain the calculation parameters of loss and dilution, and thereby calculate out the dilution rate and loss rate of the mining fields more quickly and accurately.展开更多

In this paper, field measurement data, including snow grain size, snow depth and density was obtained. Black carbon samples were collected from the snow surface. A simultaneous observation using Analytical Spectral Devices was employed in the Qiyi Glacier located in the Qilian Mountain. Analytical Spectral Devices spectrum data were used to analyze spectral re- flectance of snow for different grain size and black carbon content. The measurements were compared with the results obtained from the Snow, Ice, and Aerosol Radiation model, and the simulation was found to correlate well with the ob- served data. However, the simulated albedo was near to 0.98 times of the measured albedo, so the other factors were as- sumed to be constant using the corrected Snow, Ice, and Aerosol Radiation model to estimate the influence of measured snow grain size and black carbon on albedo. Field measurements were controlled to fit the relationship between the snow grain size and black carbon in order to estimate the influence of these factors on the snow albedo.展开更多

Seriously affect the patients’ appearance and quality of life. So one-stage repair and reconstruction of craniomaxillofacial bone defects is of great significance. The current study summarizes the clinical experience of one-stage repair and reconstruction of craniomaxillofacial bone defects. Material and Methods: Data in one-stage repair and reconstruction of?craniomaxillofacial bone defects performed on 13 patients were retrospectively analyzed out of 34 patients with?craniomaxillofacial injuries or tumors who received treatment at the outpatient department between January 2002 and March 2011. Surgical indications and approaches were explored after two typical cases were detected. Results: One-stage repair and reconstruction of bone defects was suitable for patients with craniomaxillofacial injuries and excised craniomaxillofacial benign tumors. Adjacent autogenous bones and artificial materials (such as titanium plates, titanium mesh, and so on) work well for the repair of the craniomaxillofacial bone frame and restoration of facial features. Conclusions: Surgical indications should be strictly selected in one-stage repair and reconstruction of craniomaxillofacial bone defects and deformities. Furthermore, the adoption of autogenous bones and artificial materials is a good choice in restoring the craniofacial features.展开更多
This study aimed to report the outcomes of active surveillance(AS)in the management of low-risk prostate cancer(PCa).It recruited87 men who were prospectively followed up according to the Prostate Cancer Research Inte...This study aimed to report the outcomes of active surveillance(AS)in the management of low-risk prostate cancer(PCa).It recruited87 men who were prospectively followed up according to the Prostate Cancer Research International Active Surveillance(PRIAS)protocol with local adaptation at SH Ho Urology Centre,Prince of Wales Hospital,Hong Kong,China.We investigated the predictorsof disease progression and found that baseline prostate-specific antigen density(PSAD)and the presence of the highest ProstateImaging-Reporting and Data System(PI-RADS)score 5 lesion on magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)are significantly correlatedwith disease progression.Moreover,men with PSAD>0.2 ng ml^(−2)or PI-RADS 4 or 5 lesions had significantly worse upgradingfree survival compared to those with PSAD≤0.2 ng ml−2 and PI-RADS 2 or 3 lesions.The study concludes that AS is a safe andeffective management strategy for selected patients to defer radical treatment and that most disease progression can be detectedafter the first repeated biopsy.The combination of PSAD>0.2 ng ml^(−2)and PI-RADS 4 or 5 lesions may serve as a useful predictorof early disease progression and provide a guide to optimize follow-up protocols for men in different risk groups.展开更多

Data scarcity is a major obstacle for high-resolution mapping of permafrost on the Tibetan Plateau(TP).This study produces a new permafrost stability distribution map for the 2010 s(2005–2015)derived from the predict...Data scarcity is a major obstacle for high-resolution mapping of permafrost on the Tibetan Plateau(TP).This study produces a new permafrost stability distribution map for the 2010 s(2005–2015)derived from the predicted mean annual ground temperature(MAGT)at a depth of zero annual amplitude(10–25 m)by integrating remotely sensed freezing degree-days and thawing degree-days,snow cover days,leaf area index,soil bulk density,high-accuracy soil moisture data,and in situ MAGT measurements from 237 boreholes on the TP by using an ensemble learning method that employs a support vector regression model based on distance-blocked resampled training data with 200 repetitions.Validation of the new permafrost map indicates that it is probably the most accurate of all currently available maps.This map shows that the total area of permafrost on the TP,excluding glaciers and lakes,is approximately 115.02(105.47–129.59)×10^4 km^2.The areas corresponding to the very stable,stable,semi-stable,transitional,and unstable types are 0.86×10^4,9.62×10^4,38.45×10^4,42.29×10^4,and 23.80×10^4 km^2,respectively.This new map is of fundamental importance for engineering planning and design,ecosystem management,and evaluation of the permafrost change in the future on the TP as a baseline.展开更多
Given recent higher declines in managed Apis mellifera honeybees,which are the most commonly managed bee species around the world(Garibaldi et al.2013),numerous health threats involved in the losses have been received...Given recent higher declines in managed Apis mellifera honeybees,which are the most commonly managed bee species around the world(Garibaldi et al.2013),numerous health threats involved in the losses have been received great attention.To date,Varroa destructor mite infestation has become the biggest challenge in commercial beekeeping,which is considered as a thorn stuck in the throat of beekeepers.The Varroa mite threatens bee health by absorbing the fat body and hemolymph of immature and mature bees(Ramsey et al.2019).Varroa mite infestation during the development of worker bees was found to reduce birth weight,influence water content and protein level in hemolymph of newly emerged worker bees,decrease flight performance of drones,change gene expression patterns related to immune system of honeybees,and result in honeybee colony losses(Duay et al.2002;Bowen-Walker and Gunn 2010;Zhang et al.2010;Annoscia et al.2012;Dooremalen et al.2013;Locke 2016).The Varroa mite,as an ectoparasite of the honeybee,prefers living in the sealed brood cells(Bogdanov 2006).Thus,bees are more likely to become hosts of mites in the pupal stage.In this study,we systematically investigated the current impacts of V.destructor infestations on the development from capped larvae to emerged bees.展开更多

Because it is magnet-free and can achieve a high integration level,the switched-capacitor(SC)converter acting as a direct current transformer has many promising applications in modern electronics.However,designing an ...Because it is magnet-free and can achieve a high integration level,the switched-capacitor(SC)converter acting as a direct current transformer has many promising applications in modern electronics.However,designing an SC converter with large current capability and high power efficiency is still challenging.This paper proposes a dual-branch SC voltage divider and presents its integrated circuit(IC)implementation.The designed SC converter is capable of driving large current load,thus widening the use of SC converters to high-power applications.This SC converter has a constant conversion ratio of 1/2 and its dual-branch interleaved operation ensures a continuous input current.An effective on-chip gate-driving method using a capacitively coupled floating-voltage level shifter is proposed to drive the all-NMOS power train.Due to the self-powered structure,the flying capacitor itself is also a bootstrap capacitor for gate driving and thus reduces the number of needed components.A digital frequency modulation method is adopted and the switching frequency decreases automatically at light load to improve light load efficiency.The converter IC is implemented using a 180 nm triple-well BCD process.Experimental results verify the effectiveness of the dual-branch interleaved operation and the self-powered gate-driving method.The proposed SC divider can drive up to 4 A load current with 5–12 V input voltage and its power efficiency is as high as 96.5%.At light load,using the proposed optimization method,the power efficiency is improved by 30%.展开更多

文摘Data scarcity is a major obstacle for high-resolution mapping of permafrost on the Tibetan Plateau(TP).This study produces a new permafrost stability distribution map for the 2010 s(2005–2015)derived from the predicted mean annual ground temperature(MAGT)at a depth of zero annual amplitude(10–25 m)by integrating remotely sensed freezing degree-days and thawing degree-days,snow cover days,leaf area index,soil bulk density,high-accuracy soil moisture data,and in situ MAGT measurements from 237 boreholes on the TP by using an ensemble learning method that employs a support vector regression model based on distance-blocked resampled training data with 200 repetitions.Validation of the new permafrost map indicates that it is probably the most accurate of all currently available maps.This map shows that the total area of permafrost on the TP,excluding glaciers and lakes,is approximately 115.02(105.47–129.59)×10^4 km^2.The areas corresponding to the very stable,stable,semi-stable,transitional,and unstable types are 0.86×10^4,9.62×10^4,38.45×10^4,42.29×10^4,and 23.80×10^4 km^2,respectively.This new map is of fundamental importance for engineering planning and design,ecosystem management,and evaluation of the permafrost change in the future on the TP as a baseline.

文摘Given recent higher declines in managed Apis mellifera honeybees,which are the most commonly managed bee species around the world(Garibaldi et al.2013),numerous health threats involved in the losses have been received great attention.To date,Varroa destructor mite infestation has become the biggest challenge in commercial beekeeping,which is considered as a thorn stuck in the throat of beekeepers.The Varroa mite threatens bee health by absorbing the fat body and hemolymph of immature and mature bees(Ramsey et al.2019).Varroa mite infestation during the development of worker bees was found to reduce birth weight,influence water content and protein level in hemolymph of newly emerged worker bees,decrease flight performance of drones,change gene expression patterns related to immune system of honeybees,and result in honeybee colony losses(Duay et al.2002;Bowen-Walker and Gunn 2010;Zhang et al.2010;Annoscia et al.2012;Dooremalen et al.2013;Locke 2016).The Varroa mite,as an ectoparasite of the honeybee,prefers living in the sealed brood cells(Bogdanov 2006).Thus,bees are more likely to become hosts of mites in the pupal stage.In this study,we systematically investigated the current impacts of V.destructor infestations on the development from capped larvae to emerged bees.

文摘The power co nversion efficiency(PCE)of OFQx-T:PC_(71)BM blend films reaches 7.59%.On this basis,ternary organic solar cells(OSCs)were fabricated with ITIC or PTB7-Th as the third component.The ternary OSCs with 50 wt%ITIC in acceptors exhibits an enhanced efficiency,from 7.59%to 8.17%.Also,the PCE of ternary OSCs with 50 wt%PTB7-Th in donors achieves 8.72%,which is 13%higher than that of binary OSCs.The PCE improvement of two ternary OSCs is mainly due to the increase of short-circuit current density(J_(SC)),which can be attributed to the complementary absorption spectra and improved film morphology.This work suggests that the selection of an appropriate third component plays a critical role in improving the PCE of ternary OSCs.

文摘Because it is magnet-free and can achieve a high integration level,the switched-capacitor(SC)converter acting as a direct current transformer has many promising applications in modern electronics.However,designing an SC converter with large current capability and high power efficiency is still challenging.This paper proposes a dual-branch SC voltage divider and presents its integrated circuit(IC)implementation.The designed SC converter is capable of driving large current load,thus widening the use of SC converters to high-power applications.This SC converter has a constant conversion ratio of 1/2 and its dual-branch interleaved operation ensures a continuous input current.An effective on-chip gate-driving method using a capacitively coupled floating-voltage level shifter is proposed to drive the all-NMOS power train.Due to the self-powered structure,the flying capacitor itself is also a bootstrap capacitor for gate driving and thus reduces the number of needed components.A digital frequency modulation method is adopted and the switching frequency decreases automatically at light load to improve light load efficiency.The converter IC is implemented using a 180 nm triple-well BCD process.Experimental results verify the effectiveness of the dual-branch interleaved operation and the self-powered gate-driving method.The proposed SC divider can drive up to 4 A load current with 5–12 V input voltage and its power efficiency is as high as 96.5%.At light load,using the proposed optimization method,the power efficiency is improved by 30%.
