The AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry is gradually shifting away from 2D CAD drawings and toward Building Information Modeling as a result of the fast development of science and technology (BIM). The BIM idea’s introduction emphasizes the need to specify a building in a single building model with adequate information to suit its different needs rather than defining it in fragmented documents. This research work aims to use the BIM 4D for the simulation of the construction sequence of a Swivel Bridge. For that, the software Revit was used to make the 3D model of the bridge, and the software Navisworks was used for the 4D construction simulation of the project. The results demonstrated that BIM technology could help reduce delays and problems with the schedule and improve communication among stakeholders, and BIM visualization and simulation features were very useful compared to traditional planning methods. 展开更多

Transient acantholytic dermatosis (TAD, Grover disease) is a benign skin disease with a nonspecific rash that may present as a reddish-brown, dermatomal edematous papule or herpetiform rash with a partially central horny plug. This disease is usually self-limiting and can subside within weeks or months, but it may also have a chronic progression with a trend towards long-term recurrence. The patient is an 80-year-old male who visited the clinic due to recurring erythema and blisters all over his body that had been present for over 2 years. Based on the patient’s course, laboratory tests and histopathological findings were consistent with the diagnosis. The final diagnosis was transient acantholytic dermatosis. The patient has a long course of the disease, a wide range of skin lesions and he has the different subtypes of pathological manifestations. This case and corresponding literature review help us have a clear understanding of Grover’s disease, which has received reference value for the diagnosis and treatment of this disease in clinical work. 展开更多

Lateral transportation of soil heavy metals in rainfall events could significantly increase the scope of pollution. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a model with high accuracy to simulate the migration quantity of heavy metals. A model for heavy metal migration simulation was developed based on the SWAT(Soil and Water Assessment Tool) model. This model took into consideration the influence of soil p H value, soil particle size, runoff volume, sediment amount, concentration of water-soluble heavy metals dissolved in runoff and insoluble absorbed to the soil particles. This model was reasonable in Huanjiang watershed, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, south China, covering an area of 273 km^2. The optimal drainage area threshold was determined by analyzing the effects of watershed subdivision on the simulation results to ensure the simulation accuracy. The main conclusions of this paper were:(1) watershed subdivision could affect simulation migration quantity of heavy metals;(2) the quantity of heavy metals transported by sediment accounted for 97%–99% of the total migration quantity in the study watershed. Therefore, sediment played the most important role in heavy metal migration;(3) the optimal drainage area threshold percentage to ensure high simulation accuracy was determined to be 2.01% of the total watershed;(4) with the optimal threshold percentage, this model could simulate the migration quantity of As, Pb and Cd accurately at the total watershed and subwatershed level. The results of this paper were useful for identifying the key regions with heavy metal migration. 展开更多

Identifying the factors that influence the heavy metal contents of soil could reveal the sources of soil heavy metal pollution. In this study,a categorical regression was used to identify the factors that influence soil heavy metals.First, environmental factors were associated with soil heavy metal data, and then, the degree of influence of different factors on the soil heavy metal contents in Beijing was analyzed using a categorical regression. The results showed that the soil parent material, soil type, land use type, and industrial activity were the main influencing factors, which suggested that these four factors were important sources of soil heavy metals in Beijing. In addition, population density had a certain influence on the soil Pb and Zn contents. The distribution of soil As,Cd,Pb,and Zn was markedly influenced by interactions, such as traffic activity and land use type, industrial activity and population density. The spatial distribution of soil heavy metal hotspots corresponded well with the influencing factors, such as industrial activity, population density, and soil parent material. In this study, the main factors affecting soil heavy metals were identified, and the degree of their influence was ranked.A categorical regression represents a suitable method for identifying the factors that influence soil heavy metal contents and could be used to study the genetic process of regional soil heavy metal pollution. 展开更多

Washing is a promising method for separating contaminants bound to the particles of soil ex-situ by chemical mobilization. Laboratory batch washing experi- ments were conducted using deionized water and varying concentrations of oxalic acid, citric acid, tartaric acid, acetic acid, hydrochloric acid and ethylenediaminetetra acetic acid (EDTA) to assess the efficiency of using these chemicals as washing agents and to clean up heavy metals from two heavily polluted soils from an iron and streel smelting site. The toxicity reduction index and remediation costs were analyzed, and the results showed that the soils were polluted with Cd, Pb and Zn. Hydrochloric acid and EDTA were more efficient than the other washing agents in the remediation of the test soils. The maximum total toxicity reduction index showed that 0.5 mol·L^-1 hydro- chloric acid could achieve the remediation with the lowest costs. 展开更多
