Effects of dietary supplementation of chitosan-oligosaccharides(COS)on the growth performance,immune response,stress resistance,and disease resistance of juvenile rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss were studied.Four ex...Effects of dietary supplementation of chitosan-oligosaccharides(COS)on the growth performance,immune response,stress resistance,and disease resistance of juvenile rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss were studied.Four experimental diets containing 0,20,40,or 60 mg/kg COS(COS0,COS20,COS40,and COS60,respectively)were fed to juvenile rainbow trout(initial weight=5.2±0.3 g)for 8 weeks.By the end of the feeding trial,representative groups of fish from each dietary treatment were challenged with stressor(30 sec air exposure)and pathogen exposure(intraperitoneal injection with Aeromonas hydrophila).Results showed that supplementation of COS in diets did not affect production performance and body composition of rainbow trout.However,fish fed the COS40 diet demonstrated improved phagocytic activities,respiratory burst activities and decreased serum cortisol level.Additionally,survival following A.hydrophila challenge was significant higher among fish fed the COS-supplemented feeds,although there was no difference based on the level of supplementation.The present study suggests that COS can be used as an immuno-stimulant in rainbow trout feeds.展开更多

Currently,industrial-scale NH3 production almost relies on energy-intensive Haber-Bosch process from atmospheric N2 with large amount of CO2 emission,while low-cost and high-efficient catalysts are demanded for the N2...Currently,industrial-scale NH3 production almost relies on energy-intensive Haber-Bosch process from atmospheric N2 with large amount of CO2 emission,while low-cost and high-efficient catalysts are demanded for the N2 reduction reaction (NRR).In this study,Mn3O4 nanoparticles@reduced graphene oxide (Mn3O4@rGO) composite is reported as an efficient NRR electrocatalyst with excellent selectivity for NH3 formation.In 0.1 M Na2SO4 solution,such catalyst obtains a NH3 yield of 17.4 μg·h^-1·mg^-1cat.and a Faradaic efficiency of 3.52% at-0.85 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode.Notably,it also shows high electrochemical stability during electrolysis process.Density functional theory (DFT) calculations also demonstrate that the (112) planes of Mn3O4 possess superior NRR activity.展开更多
Gluconeogenesis responses was assessed during a short starvation period and subsequent refeeding in Siberian sturgeon(Acipenser baerii) previously fed different dietary carbohydrates levels and experienced to a glucos...Gluconeogenesis responses was assessed during a short starvation period and subsequent refeeding in Siberian sturgeon(Acipenser baerii) previously fed different dietary carbohydrates levels and experienced to a glucose stimuli during early life. The sturgeon larvae were previously fed either a high glucose diet(G) or a low glucose diet(F) from the first feeding to yolk absorption(8 to 12 d post-hatching [dph]). Each group of fish was sub-divided into 2 treatments at 13 dph and was fed either a high-carbohydrate diet(H) or a low carbohydrate diet(L) until 20 wk. In the current study, the fish in 4 groups(GL, FL, GH and FH) were experienced to starvation for 21 d following by re-feeding of their corresponding diets for 21 d.Fish were sampled at postprandial 6 and 24 h before starvation(P6 h and P24 h), starvation 7,14 and 21 d(S7, S14 and S21) and 1, 7,14 and 21 d during refeeding(R1, R7, R14 and R21). Plasma samples during refeeding were taken at P6 h at each time point. Glycaemia levels, liver and muscle glycogen contents,activities and mRNA levels of hepatic gluconeogenic enzymes were examined. We found that both dietary carbohydrate levels and early glucose stimuli significantly affected the metabolic responses to starvation and refeeding in Siberian sturgeon(P < 0.05). During prolonged starvation, Siberian sturgeon firstly mobilized the liver glycogen and then improved gluconeogenesis when the dietary carbohydrates were abundant, whereas preserved the liver glycogen stores at a stable level and more effectively promoted gluconeogenesis when the dietary carbohydrates are absent to maintain glucose homoeostasis.During refeeding, as most teleostean, Siberian sturgeon failed controlling the activities and mRNA levels of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase cytosolic forms(PEPCK-C), fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase(FBPase),but particularly controlled phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase mitochondrial forms(PEPCK-M) activities and mRNA expression of glucose-6-phosphatase(G6 Pase, except in GL group). Siberian sturgeon has a full compensatory ability on growth, but this ability would be obstructed by early glucose stimuli when refeeding the low carbohydrate diet after S21.展开更多
A 41-wk growth trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary protein levels on the long-term growth response and fitting growth models of gibel carp(Carassius auratus gibelio) with an initial body weight of 1...A 41-wk growth trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary protein levels on the long-term growth response and fitting growth models of gibel carp(Carassius auratus gibelio) with an initial body weight of 1.85 ± 0.17 g. The dietary protein levels were designed at 320(P32), 360(P36). 400(P40).and 440 g/kg(P44), respectively. The growth curves of the gibel carp for each group were fitted and analyzed with four nonlinear regression models(Gompertz. logistic. von Bertalanffy and Richards). The final body weights(mean ± SD) of the fish were 226 ± 6.231 ± 7.242 ± 2, and 236 ± 2 g for P32, P36, P40,and P44. respectively. Feed conversion ratio of P40 and P44 groups was significantly lower than that of P32 and P36 groups(P < 0.05). Productive protein value of P44 group was significantly lower than that of P32 and P36 groups, but not different from that of P40 group(P > 0.05). The growth response of the gibel carp for each group was the best fitted by Richards model with the lowest Chi^2, residual sum of squares and residual variance, then Gompertz and von Bertalanffy growth models, but the logistic model did not fit the data well justified by Chi^2 values. The optimal protein level(400 g/kg) prolonged the stage of fast growth and predicted the highest asymptotic weight, which was close to the harvest size in practice.展开更多
This study applied in vivo and in vitro methods to investigate the effect of dietary N-carbamoylglutamate(NCG)on lipid metabolism,inflammation and apoptosis related-gene expression in visceral adipose tissue and isola...This study applied in vivo and in vitro methods to investigate the effect of dietary N-carbamoylglutamate(NCG)on lipid metabolism,inflammation and apoptosis related-gene expression in visceral adipose tissue and isolated adipocytes of Japanese seabass(Lateolabrax japonicus).A basal diet and a test diet supplemented with 720 mg/kg NCG were fed to the fish for 10 weeks.During the growth trial,no mortality and no significant differences in growth performance were observed in fish between the 2 groups(P>0.05).Plasma Arg content and mRNA level of argininosuccinate synthetase(ASS)in adipose tissue were significantly increased,which indicated that NCG inclusion promoted endogenous Arg synthesis.Thereafter,the potential effects of NCG treatment on lipid metabolism-related genes expression were studied through in vivo and in vitro methods.In the present study,we successfully established a primary adipocytes culture system and isolated pre-adipocytes in vitro of Japanese seabass for the first time.Both the results in vivo and in vitro showed that NCG treatment decreased the mRNA levels of genes related to adipogenesis(fatty acid synthase,FASN),cholesterol synthesis(3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase,HMGCR)and fat deposition(lipoprotein lipase[LPL]and leptin),which revealed the underlying mechanism of NCG on reducing fat deposition.The results of this study demonstrated that NCG inclusion reduced the expression of inflammatory and apoptosis cytokines markedly in vivo and in vitro.In conclusion,NCG did exert beneficial effects on ameliorating adipo-genesis,inflammation and apoptosis via promoting Arg endogenous synthesis in Japanese seabass.展开更多
The toxicity of lead ions has become the severe challenge for the all-inorganic lead halide p erovskite materials,although some works have rep orted the lead-free perovskite nanocrystals(NCs),the photoluminescence qua...The toxicity of lead ions has become the severe challenge for the all-inorganic lead halide p erovskite materials,although some works have rep orted the lead-free perovskite nanocrystals(NCs),the photoluminescence quantum yield(PLQY)of these materials is still unsatisfactory.Meanwhile,because the halogen ions can be easily exchanged,the controllable multicolor emission in perovskite NCs is difficult to realize in current reports.In this work,we introduced lanthanide ions into lead-free Cs_(3)Sb_(2)Cl_(9) perovskite NCs.Benefitting from the energy transfer between Cs_(3)Sb_(2)Cl_(9) perovskite NC host and lanthanide ions,the multicolor emission was realized.Based on controlling the doping concentration of Tb6(3+)and Eu~(3+)ions,the white light emission under UV excitation would be turned easily in the Tb6(3+)/Eu~(3+)codoped NCs.In addition,efficient energy transfer from perovskite NCs to Tb6(3+)or Eu~(3+)ions is beneficial to improving the optical properties of lead-free perovskite NCs,resulting in maximum PLQYs of red,green and white light emission of 22.6%,19.7%and 28.5%,respectively.Finally,a white light emitting device(WLED)was fabricated with a power efficiency of 18.5 lm/W,which presents the Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage(CIE)of(0.33,0.35).展开更多
