Luminescent hydrogels have received considerable attention in the application of sensors.Nitroaro matics are harmful to human health and can be carcinogenic.Some skin allergies and central nervous system injuries may ...Luminescent hydrogels have received considerable attention in the application of sensors.Nitroaro matics are harmful to human health and can be carcinogenic.Some skin allergies and central nervous system injuries may also be attributed to the over exposure to nitroaromatics.Thus,nitroaromatics sensor with fast detection and low detection limit is highly desirable.Herein,novel tough hydrogels were prepared by introducing hydrogen bonds and covalent bonds into the interpenetrating networks of modified chitosan and poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA) via frozen-thawing induced chemical cross-linking.The synthesized hydrogels exhibit high mechanical strength(0.23 MPa tensile strength at 140% tensile strain,1.0 MPa compressive strength at 80% compressive strain).Strong green emission was realized by energy transfer from the modified chitosan to Tb^(3+)via the so-called "antenna effect." The prepared luminescent hydrogels show an excellent detection effect on nitroaromatic compounds and its detection limit can reach ppm-level.The hydrogels also exhibit good reversibility and a fast "off-on" fluorescence switching process.This work may open up a new way for the development of stable,rapid,and reusable sensors for the detection of harmful nitroaromatics.展开更多
What is already known about this topic?Kashin-Beck disease(KBD)is a chronic and degenerative osteoarthropathy characterized by cartilage degeneration.It is an endemic disease that is highly prevalent among the Chinese...What is already known about this topic?Kashin-Beck disease(KBD)is a chronic and degenerative osteoarthropathy characterized by cartilage degeneration.It is an endemic disease that is highly prevalent among the Chinese population and poses a significant health risk.What is added by this report?This is the first national report on the economic burden of KBD in China.According to the data from 2021,KBD has caused significant disease and economic burdens.The most substantial reduction in healthy life expectancy was observed among patients with degree II severity and those aged 60 years and older,resulting in a total indirect economic burden of 112.74 million Chinese Yuan(CNY).What are the implications for public health practice?The results of this study will contribute to informing the development of tailored prevention and control strategies by the government.These strategies will include targeted policies and recommendations for appropriate healthcare and financial subsidies,which will be based on the demographic characteristics of the endemic areas.展开更多
Molecules with long preserved magnetic moments are perceived as the smallest units for storing bytes,which could bring a new revolution for information technology.However,the rational design of such molecules remains ...Molecules with long preserved magnetic moments are perceived as the smallest units for storing bytes,which could bring a new revolution for information technology.However,the rational design of such molecules remains challenging.Here two rigid adamantanol ligand based dysprosium(III)complexes([Dy(1-AdO)_(2)(py)_(5)]BPh_(4)-1 and[Dy(2-AdO)_(2)(py)_(5)]BPh_(4)-2)with pentagonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry and local D5h symmetry were successfully prepared,which display excellent single-molecule magnet(SMM)behavior(U_(eff)≈1835 K,T_(B)_(ZFC)≈24 K,T_(B)^(100s)≈17 K and T_(B)^(H)=23 K for 1;U_(eff)≈1756 K,T_(B)^(ZFC)≈20 K,T_(B)^(100s)≈16 K and T_(B)^(H)=23 K for 2)due to the much weakened vibration in low energy regimes.Remarkably,the large energy barriers and high blocking temperatures for these two complexes in solid states are well preserved in solution.This is never observed in previous studies of SMMs,indicating that the adamantanol is rigid and can be introduced to make the composed molecules stable enough to maintain the solid state magnetic property in solution.展开更多
Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway has been identified as a key cellular pathway in embryogenesis and disease,including cancers.In recent years,more and more interacting components have been observed and their exact fun...Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway has been identified as a key cellular pathway in embryogenesis and disease,including cancers.In recent years,more and more interacting components have been observed and their exact functions approached,thus ensuring the most complicated understanding of this pathway in normal organism development and disorders.In hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),with a deeply understanding of this pathway,more and more genes which contribute to aber-rant activation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway has recently been identified and their exact roles in HCC pur-sued.In this review,we will focus on a mostly updated understanding of this pathway and its observed role in HCC by emphasizing the gene defects identified to pro-mote tumorigenesis and development.展开更多
