The surface of these nanoscale carriers is often functionalized with biological molecules for stabilization and targeted delivery. The combinations of nano-core and associated functional molecules can cross the cell membrane [1], and the surface of nanomaterials (including coating and associated functional molecules) plays a critical role in determining the outcome of their interactions with cells [2, 3]. Studying the potential effects of nanomaterials in biological systems often requires the administration of nanoparticles into a cell culture system or into living organisms in vivo. It should be noted, however, that under such conditions nanopaticles are known to adsorb proteins from the biological system,展开更多

The structure, composition, and surface morphology of the formed films were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmissionelectron microscopy (TEM). The measurement results reveal that the polycrystalline GaN films withhexagonal wurtzite structure were successfully grown on the silicon (111) substrates. Preliminaryresults suggest that varying the ammoniating temperature has obvious effect on the quality of theGaN films formed with this method.展开更多

Sertoli/germ cell cocultures and single cell gel electrophoresis(SCGE) are applied to investigate whether they have genotoxicity on DNA damage of germ cell of Kunming male rat. The results showed that all three nitrotoluene compounds tested could induce DNA single strand breaks of the germ cell. A significant relationship is found between logarithm dose and the degree of DNA damage, which implies that 2,4 DNT, 2,6 DNT and 4 NT have genotoxicity and can induce the germ cell DNA strand to break in vitro.展开更多

The effects of glass compositions on the transition temperature, thermal expansion coefficient, density, hardness and refractive index of glasses were studied. The highest hardness of the glasses is 4143.891 MPa and the lowest thermal expansion coefficient of the glasses is 71.770×10-7/℃. A phosphate glass with high mechanical strength and good thermal characteristic is obtained.展开更多

The results showed that activin A stimulated the secretion of NO and the expression of iNOS mRNA in non-activated mouse macrophages in a time-and dose-dependent manner. In contrast, activin A in the same concentration inhibited the secretion of NO in LPS-activated mouse macrophages in a dose-dependent manner. ActRIIA was highly expressed on macrophages, and activin A upregulated the ActRIIA mRNA expression in macrophages.Anti-ActRIIA antibody can block the secretion of NO from the macrophages stimulated by activin A. Furthermore,RT-PCR analysis revealed that activin A enhanced the ARIP2 mRNA expression in macrophages. These results indicated that Activin A may be a weak activator compared with LPS to mouse macrophages, and activin A may modulate the secretion of NO through ActRIIA-ARIP2 signal pathway in mouse macrophages.
