Wetlands worldwide have suffered from serious degradation and transformation,leading to waterbirds increasingly dependent on agricultural fields for feeding.Although gut microbiota is an essential component of host health,the impacts of agricultural feeding on gut microbial community and pathogen transmission remain poorly understood.To fill this knowledge gap,we used 16S rRNA sequencing to characterize the fecal bacterial community of the Siberian Crane(Grus leucogeranus),a Critically Endangered species,that recently has shifted its foraging from largely Vallisneria tubers in Poyang Lake natural wetlands to crops(i.e.,rice seeds and lotus rhizomes) in agricultural fields.We compared the bacterial communities between tuber foraging cranes and crop foraging cranes.Our results indicate that diet shift greatly modified the gut microbiota diversity,composition and function.Crop foraging cranes had higher microbiota diversity than tuber foraging cranes.The alteration in microbiota composition and function were correlated with change in food nutrition.Tuber(i.e.,high in fiber)foraging cranes were enriched in Clostridiaceae with fiber digestion ability,and crop(i.e.,high in carbohydrate)foraging cranes were enriched in bacterial taxa and functions related to carbohydrate metabolism.The flexibility of gut microbiota might enhance Siberian Cranes’ ability to adapt to novel diet and environment.However,many enriched families in crop foraging cranes were pathogenic bacteria,which might increase the susceptibility of cranes to pathogenic infection.Special caution should be taken to agricultural feeding waterbirds in Asia,where the widespread poultry-keeping in over-harvested rice fields might increase the transmission probability of pathogenetic bacteria among wild birds,domestic poultry and humans. 展开更多

For early-stage peripheral lung cancer,transbronchoscopic ablation and the assisted localization of preoperative peripheral lung nodules bybronchoscopy are the new techniques. In addition, interventional bronchoscopy can manage complications related to lung cancer. Future Drought Changes in China Projected by the CMIP6 Models:Contributions from Key Factors 被引量:2

Model simulations show that drought may become more severe and widespread in the 21st century due to humaninduced global warming. However, the contributions from the key factors to the model-projected drought changes in China have not yet been examined in detail. We used the self-calibrated Palmer Drought Severity Index with Penman–Monteith potential evapotranspiration(scPDSIpm) based on 10 model simulations selected from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6(CMIP6). We investigated the contributions from precipitation(P), near-surface air temperature and specific humidity [Δ(T + q)], net surface longwave radiation(LW), net surface shortwave radiation(SW), and wind speed(WS) to the future changes in scPDSIpm, including the long-term mean, drying area,probability distribution function(PDF), drought frequency, and drought duration based on the scPDSIpm over China.Our results show that model-projected drying mainly occurs over southern China, whereas the dry areas under drought conditions increase from 20% to about 23%/30% under the two scenarios of the shared socioeconomic pathway(SSP2-4.5/SSP5-8.5) from 1985 to 2100, despite large uncertainties in individual projections partly due to internal variability. Drought frequency is projected to increases by about 10%–54%(15%–88%) under the SSP2-4.5(SSP5-8.5) scenario by the late 21st century, along with increases in drought duration. These changes are accompanied by a decrease in the mean scPDSIpm and flattening of the PDFs. The changes in drying over southern China are mainly attributed to surface warming and the increased surface vapor pressure deficit(VPD), with small contributions from changes in the surface net radiation. The changes in wetting over northern China mostly result from increased precipitation along with a small wetting effect from the changes in wind speed. 展开更多

Histone deacetylase(HDAC)is a kind of protease that modifies histone to regulate gene expression,and is usually abnormally activated in tumors.The approved pan-HDAC inhibitors have demonstrated clinical benefits for patients in some hematologic malignancies.Only limited therapeutic success in breast cancer has been observed in clinical trials.In this study,we declare that pan-HDAC inhibitors targeting NEDD9-FAK pathway exacerbate breast cancer metastasis in preclinical models,which may severely impede their clinical success.NEDD9 is not an oncogene,however,it has been demonstrated recently that there are high level or activity changes of NEDD9 in a variety of cancer,including leukemia,colon cancer,and breast cancer.Mechanistically,pan-HDAC inhibitors enhance H3K9 acetylation at the nedd9 gene promoter via inhibition of HDAC4 activity,thus increase NEDD9 expression,and then activate FAK phosphorylation.The realization that pan-HDAC inhibitors can alter the natural history of breast cancer by increasing invasion warrants clinical attention.In addition,although NEDD9 has been reported to have a hand in breast cancer metastasis,it has not received much attention,and no therapeutic strategies have been developed.Notably,we demonstrate that FAK inhibitors can reverse breast cancer metastasis induced by upregulation of NEDD9 via pan-HDAC inhibitors,which may offer a potential combination therapy for breast cancer. 展开更多

OBJECTIVE:To explore the pathologic characteristics of hyperplasia of the mammary gland(HMG) by observing differences in infrared radiation temperature of points of HMG in patients with different syndromes compared with healthy controls.METHODS:AFLIRSystems Therma CAM P30 infrared thermal camera was used to detect the infrared temperature of Shanzhong(CV 17),Qimen(LR 14),Zhongwan(CV 12),Qihai(CV 6),Guanyuan(CV 4),Taixi(KI 3),and Taichong(LR 3) in 113 patients with HMG.Of these patients,71 were placed in the Liver Qi stagnation group,34 were placed in the Dysfunction of conception and thoroughfare vessels group,and 8 were placed in the Phlegm and blood stasis in combination group.The infrared radiation temperature of each point in the patients was compared with that of healthy controls,and the differences in the infrared radiation temperatures of the points in the patients were analyzed.RESULTS:Overall,the bilateral corresponding point in both the controls and patients exhibited no significant difference in infrared radiation temperature.In all cases,the infrared radiation temperature of the points from proximal to distal tended to decrease.In a comparison of the patients and controls,the infrared radiation temperature of the trunk points Shanzhong(CV 17),Qimen(LR 14),Zhongwan(CV12),Qihai(CV6),and Guanyuan(CV 4) of the patients was higher than that of the controls,while the infrared radiation temperature of the lower extremity points Taixi(KI 3) and Taichong(LR 3) was lower than that of the controls.Of these points,Shanzhong(CV 17)(P=0.0368),Zhongwan(CV 12)(P=0.0028),Qihai(CV 6)(P=0.0085),and Guanyuan(CV4)(P=0.0018) showed significant differences.In a comparison of the corresponding point on the same side in the Liver Qi stagnation group and controls,the infrared radiation temperature of Shanzhong(CV17)(P=0.0089),right-side Qimen(LR 14)(P=0.0382),Zhongwan(CV 12)(P= 0.0000),Qihai(CV 6)(P=0.0011),and Guanyuan(CV 4)(P=0.0000) of the patients was significantly higher than that of the controls,while the differences in the infrared radiation temperature of the other points were not statistically significant(P= 0.0833-0.8397).In a comparison of the corresponding point on the same side in the Dysfunction of conception and thoroughfare vessels group and controls,the infrared radiation temperature of left-side Taichong(LR 3)(P=0.0048),right-side Taichong(LR 3)(P=0.0329),left-side Taixi(KI 3)(P= 0.0171),and right-side Taixi(KI 3)(t=0.544,P= 0.0165) of the patients was significantly lower than that of the controls,while the differences in the infrared radiation temperature of the other points were not statistically significant(P=0.3793-0.9197).In a comparison of the corresponding point on the same side in the Phlegm and blood stasis in combination group and controls,the infrared radiation temperature of Shanzhong(CV 17),Qimen(LR 14),Qihai(CV 6),Guanyuan(CV 4),Taixi(KI 3),Taichong(LR 3),and Zhongwan(CV 12) tended to increase,but without statistical significance(P=0.175-.759).CONCLUSION:The corresponding points of HMG patients with different syndromes are in different deficiency/excess states.Changes in the infrared radiation temperature of the trunk points Shanzhong(CV 17),Qimen(LR 14),Zhongwan(CV 12),Qihai(CV 6),and Guanyuan(CV 4) are closely related to the pathological characteristics of the Liver Qi stagnation syndrome of HMG patients,while changes in the infrared radiation temperature of the lower extremity points Taixi(KI 3) and Taichong(LR 3) are closely related to the pathological characteristics of the Dysfunction of conception and thoroughfare vessels syndrome of HMG patients.On the whole,HMG patients with Liver Qi stagnation syndrome are characterized by "upper excess," and those with Dysfunction of conception and thoroughfare vessels syndrome are characterized by"lowerdeficiency." 展开更多

ABSTRACT Introduction:Mushroom poisoning was the leading cause of foodborne disease outbreaks and outbreak-associated deaths in China.Mushroom poisoning outbreak surveillance can provide insight into the epidemiological characteristics of mushroom poisonings and guide policymaking and health education to reduce illnesses and deaths.Methods:Foodborne Disease Outbreak Surveillance System was upgraded in 2011 to collect foodborne disease outbreaks in China.Mushroom poisoning outbreaks during 2010–2020 were selected to analyze geographical distribution,seasonal distribution,and setting of food preparation.Results:A total of 10,036 outbreaks,which resulted in 38,676 illnesses and 788 deaths,were reported in this period.Mushroom poisonings occurred all over the country,but with highest incidence in the southwest and central China. 展开更多

Incomplete lineage sorting and introgression are 2 major and nonexclusive causes of specieslevel non-monophyly.Distinguishing between these 2 processes is notoriously difficult because they can generate similar genetic signatures.Previous studies have suggested that 2 closely related duck species,the Chinese spot-billed duck Anas zonorhyncha and the mallard A.platyrhynchosvjere polyphyletically intermixed.Here,we utilized a wide geographical sampling,multilocus data and a coalescent-based model to revisit this system.Our study confirms the finding that Chinese spot-billed ducks and Mallards are not monophyletic.There was no apparent interspecific differentiation across loci except those at the mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA)control region and the Z chromosome(CHD1Z).Based on an isolation-with-migration model and the geographical distribution of lineages,we suggest that both introgression and incomplete lineage sorting might contribute to the observed non-monophyly of the 2 closely related duck species.The mtDNA introgression was asymmetric,with high gene flow from Chinese spot-billed ducks to Mallards and negligible gene flow in the opposite direction.Given that the 2 duck species are phenotypically distinctive but weakly genetically differentiated,future work based on genomescale data is necessary to uncover genomic regions that are involved in divergence,and this work may provide further insights into the evolutionary histories of the 2 species and other waterfowls. 展开更多
