Xinqiao Gully is located in the area of the 2008 Wenchuan M_(s)8.0 earthquake in Sichuan province,China.Based on the investigation of the 2023"6-26"Xinqiao Gully debris flow event,this study assessed the eff...Xinqiao Gully is located in the area of the 2008 Wenchuan M_(s)8.0 earthquake in Sichuan province,China.Based on the investigation of the 2023"6-26"Xinqiao Gully debris flow event,this study assessed the effectiveness of the debris flow control project and evaluated the debris flow hazards.Through field investigation and numerical simulation methods,the indicators of flow intensity reduction rate and storage capacity fullness were proposed to quantify the effectiveness of the engineering measures in the debris flow event.The simulation results show that the debris flow control project reduced the flow intensity by41.05%to 64.61%.The storage capacity of the dam decreases gradually from upstream to the mouth of the gully,thus effectively intercepting and controlling the debris flow.By evaluating the debris flow of different recurrence intervals,further measures are recommended for managing debris flow events.展开更多
BACKGROUND Rhinophyma,a late-stage subtype of rosacea,is characterized by excessive sebaceous glands and connective tissue proliferation.Patients may experience respiratory disturbances and psychological distress that...BACKGROUND Rhinophyma,a late-stage subtype of rosacea,is characterized by excessive sebaceous glands and connective tissue proliferation.Patients may experience respiratory disturbances and psychological distress that significantly affect their quality of life when excessive nasal hyperplasia obstructs the external nasal valves.Surgery is the treatment of choice for rhinophyma.However,excessive bleeding,scarring,pigmentation,and high recurrence rates frequently characterize current surgical methods.AIM To evaluate the clinical effectiveness and recurrence rates after treating severe rhinophyma with the five-blade scratcher.METHODS This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical records of 28 patients with severe rhinophyma rosacea.The Global Flushing Severity Score(GFSS),Clinician Erythema Assessment(CEA),Rhinophyma Severity Index(RHISI),Glasgow Benefit Inventory(GBI),and satisfaction scores were used to assess the recovery of patients at 6 months and 5 years,with the recurrence rate calculated at 5 years postoperatively.In addition,the levels of pro-inflammatory factors(TNF-α,IL-1β,and IL-6)in the serum of patients before and after surgery were detected by ELISA.RESULTS The GFSS,CEA,and RHISI scores at 6 months and 5 years postoperatively were significantly lower than those preoperatively(P<0.001 for both periods).Five-blade scratcher treatment greatly benefits patients as demonstrated by the GBI and patient satisfaction.A small number of patients(7/28,25%)reported recurrence after surgical treatment for rhinophyma in our department that was not more serious than before treatment.The expression of pro-inflammatory factors(TNF-α,IL-1β,and IL-6)in the patient's serum was significantly reduced after surgery of five-blade scratcher.CONCLUSION The five-blade scratcher treatment demonstrates notable advantages,including simplicity,safety,efficacy,and cost-effectiveness,coupled with reduced bleeding,minimized scarring,lower recurrence rates,reduced the level of pro-inflammatory factors and improved patient satisfaction.Consequently,this therapeutic modality exhibits a viable option for individuals afflicted with severe rhinophyma.展开更多
Objective:To investigate the clinical effect of interferon combined with inhalant therapy for acute attack of bronchial asthma.Methods: A total of 56 patients with acute attack of bronchial asthma who were treated in ...Objective:To investigate the clinical effect of interferon combined with inhalant therapy for acute attack of bronchial asthma.Methods: A total of 56 patients with acute attack of bronchial asthma who were treated in our hospital between January 2015 and January 2018 were selected as the research subjects, and the therapies were reviewed and used to divide the patients into the control group (n=30) who received conventional inhalant therapy and the interferon group (n=26) who received interferon combined with inhalant therapy. Control group received salbutamol aerosol inhalation, and interferon group received interferon combined with salbutamol aerosol inhalation. The differences in serum levels of inflammatory factors, airway remodeling indexes and immunoglobulins were compared between the two groups immediately after admission and after 48 h of treatment.Results:Immediately after admission, the differences in serum levels of inflammatory factors, airway remodeling indexes and immunoglobulins were not statistically significant between the two groups of patients. After 48 h of treatment, serum inflammatory factors IL-8, IL-17, IL-18, IL-25, IL-27 and IL-33 levels of interferon group were lower than those of control group;airway remodeling indexes VEGF, MMP-9 and TIMP1 levels were lower than those of control group;immunoglobulins IgA, IgG and IgM levels were higher than those of control group whereas IgE level was lower than that of control group.Conclusion:interferon combined with inhalant therapy can effectively reduce systemic inflammatory response, inhibit airway remodeling and optimize humoral immune function in patients with acute attack of bronchial asthma.展开更多
Sulfur-containing dynamic polymers had attracted significant attention due to their unique chemical structures with high reversibility.Utilizating sulfur, an inexpensive industrial waste product, to synthesize dynamic...Sulfur-containing dynamic polymers had attracted significant attention due to their unique chemical structures with high reversibility.Utilizating sulfur, an inexpensive industrial waste product, to synthesize dynamic polysulfide polymers through reverse vulcanization has been a notable approach. However, this method required high temperatures and resulted in the release of unpleasant oders. In this study, we presented a robust method for the preparation of sulfur-rich polymers with dynamic polysulfide bonds from elemental sulfur and inexpensive epoxide monomers via a one-pot strategy at the mild room temperature. Different types of polysulfide molecules and polymers were synthesized by reacting various epoxide compounds with sulfur, along with the investigation of their structures and dynamic behaviors. It was noteworthy that the obatined polymers prepared from m-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)-N,N-bis(2,3-epoxypropyl)aniline and elemental sulfur exhibit multiple dynamic behaviors, including polysulfide metathesis and polysulfide-thiol exchange, enabling their rapid stress relaxation, self-healing, reprocessing and degradable properties of the cross-linked polymer. More importantly, the hydroxyl groups at the side chains from epoxide ring opening exhibited potential transesterification. This work provided a facile strategy for designing dynamic sulfur-rich polymers via a mild synthesis route.展开更多
We report on the fabrication of self-assembled micelles from ABC-type miktoarm star polypeptide hybrid copolymers consisting of poly(ethylene oxide), poly(L-lysine), and poly(e-caprolactone) arms, PEO(-b-PLL)-...We report on the fabrication of self-assembled micelles from ABC-type miktoarm star polypeptide hybrid copolymers consisting of poly(ethylene oxide), poly(L-lysine), and poly(e-caprolactone) arms, PEO(-b-PLL)-b-PCL, and their functional applications as co-delivery nanocarriers of chemotherapeutic drugs and plasmid DNA. Miktoarm star copolymer precursors, PEO(-b-PZLL)-b-PCL, were synthesized at first via the combination of consecutive "click" reactions and ring-opening polymerizations (ROP), where PZLL is poly(e-benzyloxycarbonyl-L-lysine). Subsequently, the deprotection of PZLL arm afforded amphiphilic miktoarm star copolymers, PEO(-b-PLL)-b-PCL. In aqueous media at pH 7.4, PEO(-b-PLL)-b-PCL self-assembles into micelles consisting of PCL cores and hydrophilic PEO/PLL hybrid coronas. The hydrophobic micellar cores can effectively encapsulate model hydrophobic anticancer drug, paclitaxel; whereas positively charged PLL arms within mixed micellar corona are capable of forming electrostatic polyplexes with negatively charged plasmid DNA (pDNA) at N/P ratios higher than ca. 2. Thus, PEO(-b-PLL)-b-PCL micelles can act as co-delivery nanovehicles for both chemotherapeutic drugs and genes. Furthermore, polyplexes of pDNA with paclitaxel-loaded PEO(-b- PLL)-b-PCL micelles exhibited improved transfection efficiency compared to that of pDNA/blank micelles. We expect that the reported strategy of varying chain topologies for the fabrication of co-delivery polymeric nanocarriers can be further applied to integrate with other advantageous functions such as targeting, imaging, and diagnostics.展开更多
Objective: To explore the brain function mechanism of "liver-soothing and mind-regulating" acupuncture manipulation in intervening post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD).Methods: According to random number table m...Objective: To explore the brain function mechanism of "liver-soothing and mind-regulating" acupuncture manipulation in intervening post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD).Methods: According to random number table method, 60 SD rats were randomly divided into blank group, model group, grabbing group, paroxetine group and acupuncture group. Except for the blank group, all the rats were established into PTSD models through electric shock and incarceration, with model replication for 7 days in total. The rats were given gavage, acupuncture intervention and grabbing fixation 1 h before modeling, with 6 days as 1 course of treatment. Grabbing treatment was performed for 2 courses, with 12 days in total. After modeling, functional near-infrared spectroscopy(fNIRS) system was adopted to collect and record the changes of concentration of Oxy-Hb, Deoxy-Hb and Total-Hb during 3 min in related brain regions of rats in each group after treatment for 5 consecutive days, and the brain function was evaluated.Results: According to the comparison of the time series of blood-oxygen concentration, there were significant differences between model group and blank group as well as grabbing group and blank group(P〈0.01, P〈0.01), no significant difference was found between model group and grabbing group(P〈0.05); there were significant differences between paroxetine group and grabbing group as well as acupuncture group and grabbing group(P〈0.05, P〈0.05), no significant difference was found between paroxetine group and acupuncture group(P〈0.05).Conclusion: "Liver-soothing and mind-regulating" acupuncture manipulation has a benign regulatory effect on the blood-oxygen concentration in cerebral cortex of PTSD rats, which may be the important brain function mechanism of "liver-soothing and mind-regulating" acupuncture manipulation in intervening PTSD.展开更多
The development of adhesive technology is gaining increasing attention in machinery,electronics,aviation,and other fields.However,traditional adhesives are difficult to be peeled and removed after cross-linking and cu...The development of adhesive technology is gaining increasing attention in machinery,electronics,aviation,and other fields.However,traditional adhesives are difficult to be peeled and removed after cross-linking and curing due to the limited solubility in common solvents,which causes pollution and damage to the surface of the adherend.In this work,we synthesized random hyperbranched polyamide-amine hot melt adhesives through Michael addition of 1,8-octanediamine and N,N’-methylene diacrylamide(ODA-RHP HMA).Owing to the presence of various polar groups,ODA-RHP HMA exhibited robust lap shear strength to different substrates,including glass(6.6 MPa),ceramics(10.3 MPa),steel(11.5 MPa),and aluminum(11.8 MPa).Due to the hydrogen bonds in ODA-RHP,the HMA demonstrated intrinsic self-healing ability,which can be used repeatedly when being subjected to cyclic heating and cooling.Since ODA-RHP HMA can be swollen or dissolved in ethanol,the adhesives can be easily removed through erasing.In addition,ODA-RHP exhibited aggregation-induced luminescence due to the tertiary amine structure in the molecular structure of ODA-RHP,which can be used in the field of cultural relics restoration.展开更多
