Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of patient-controlled analgesia(PCA) with hydromorphone as perioperative analgesia during uterine artery embolization(UAE) via the right radial artery.Patients and method...Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of patient-controlled analgesia(PCA) with hydromorphone as perioperative analgesia during uterine artery embolization(UAE) via the right radial artery.Patients and methods: A total of 33 patients with uterine fibroids, who underwent UAE at the authors’ hospital between June 2021 and March 2022, were selected. Hydromorphone(10 mg) was dispensed into a 100 ml PCA pump with normal saline. Pump administration was initiated 15 min before the start of the procedure, and the intraoperative dose was adjusted according to patient pain level. A numerical rating scale was used to evaluate pain immediately after embolization, 5 min after embolization, at the end of the procedure, and 6, 12, 24, 48, and 72 h after the procedure. Side effects were also observed.Results: Thirty-three patients underwent uterine artery embolization via the right radial artery. Patient pain was well controlled at all time points surveyed, and patients reported satisfaction with analgesia. The median length of hospital stay was 5 days. There were 7 cases of adverse reactions, but no serious side effects were observed.Conclusion: Patients reported positive experiences with arterial embolization of uterine fibroids via the right radial artery. Hydromorphone PCA effectively controlled pain. The PCA pump is easy to operate, has a low incidence of adverse reactions, and offers economic benefits at the patient and institutional levels.展开更多
Melatonin,as a plant growth regulator,is involved in plant stress resistance.We studied the effects of different concentrations(0,10,50,100,150,and 200μmol·L−1)of melatonin on the growth and physiological charac...Melatonin,as a plant growth regulator,is involved in plant stress resistance.We studied the effects of different concentrations(0,10,50,100,150,and 200μmol·L−1)of melatonin on the growth and physiological characteristics of strawberry under cadmium(Cd)stress.The results represented that the growth of strawberry seedlings was inhibited under Cd stress,and the seedling biomass,chlorophyll content and the activities of antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase(SOD),peroxidase(POD),catalase(CAT),and ascorbate peroxidase(APX)decreased.These toxic effects were,however,effectively remediated by exogenous melatonin pretreatment.Melatonin treatment slowed the inhibitory effect of seedling growth and significantly increased seedling biomass,chlorophyll content,antioxidant enzyme activities,and soluble protein levels in leaves and roots compared with the control.Melatonin treatment also reduced the malondialdehyde(MDA)content and the oxidative stress reactions,increased the anthocyanin content,and slowed the senescence rate,thereby reducing the toxic effects of Cd on strawberries.This indicates that foliar application of melatonin can effectively remediate the adverse effects of Cd on strawberry seedlings;the greatest effect was obtained with melatonin concentration of 100μmol·L−1.展开更多
A series of the Guiqi polysaccharides/chitosan/alginate composite hydrogel microspheres(GPcM)with different particle sizes were prepared with Guiqi polysaccharides(GP),chitosan(CS)and sodium alginate(Alg).The optimum ...A series of the Guiqi polysaccharides/chitosan/alginate composite hydrogel microspheres(GPcM)with different particle sizes were prepared with Guiqi polysaccharides(GP),chitosan(CS)and sodium alginate(Alg).The optimum preparation process was also determined by single factor and orthogonal experiment analysis.The GPcM were characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),scanning electron microscope(SEM),drug loading efficiency test(LE),encapsulation efficiency test(EE)and in vitro release study.The results showed that the Guiqi polysaccharides chitosan hydrogel(GPCH)and sodium alginate hydrogel(SAH)formed a crossover system in GPcM.The GPcM have a uniform particle size ranging from 395.1μm to 841.5μm.The drug loading efficiency and encapsulation efficiency of the GPcM were 56.3%and 72.6%,respectively.The bovine serum albumin(BSA)loaded in the GPcM released slowly within 180 h.The results suggested that the GPcM may have potential application value in drug sustained and controlled release system.展开更多

Polymer-textile liner composites have potential applications in aerospace applications for reducing the abrasion damage of moving parts during operation owing to their self-lubrication,light weight,and high loading ca...Polymer-textile liner composites have potential applications in aerospace applications for reducing the abrasion damage of moving parts during operation owing to their self-lubrication,light weight,and high loading capacity.Herein,Au nanoparticles(AuNPs)are successfully loaded into the lumen of halloysite nanotubes(HNTs)to construct an HNTs‒Au peasecod core‒shell nanosystem to optimize the wear resistance of phenolic resin-based poly(p-phenylene benzobisoxazole)(PBO)/polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)textile composites.Transmission electron microscope(TEM)characterization reveals that the AuNPs are well-dispersed inside the HNTs,with an average diameter of 6‒9 nm.The anti-wear performance of the HNTs and Au-reinforced PBO/PTFE composites is evaluated using a pin-on-disk friction tester at 100 MPa.Evidently,the addition of HNTs‒Au induces a 27.9%decrease in the wear rate of the composites.Possible anti-wear mechanisms are proposed based on the analyzed results of the worn surface morphology and the cross-section of the tribofilm obtained by focused ion beam transmission electron microscopy.展开更多
Epoxy resin(EP)composites with satisfactory thermal and tribological performance are highly required for engineering moving components.However,the simple addition of fillers leaded to the serious filler agglomeration ...Epoxy resin(EP)composites with satisfactory thermal and tribological performance are highly required for engineering moving components.However,the simple addition of fillers leaded to the serious filler agglomeration and limited promotion in tribological properties.In this work,we constructed a new kind of three-dimensional(3D)reduced graphene oxide(RGO)/Si_(3)N_(4) hybrid aerogel for EP composites,which was prepared by a facile hydrothermal self-assembly method followed by freeze-drying technique.As a result,the dispersibility of Si_(3)N_(4) whiskers was greatly improved through wrapping of polydopamine–polyethyleneimine copolymer(PDA–PEI)copolymer and physical spacing of 3D skeleton.Furthermore,benefiting from the synergistic effect of RGO and Si_(3)N_(4)@PDA–PEI in the thermal network,the thermal conductivity of RGO/Si_(3)N_(4) hybrid aerogel(GSiA)–EP increased by 45.4%compared to that of the neat EP.In addition,the friction coefficient and wear rate of GSiA–EP decreased by 83.7%and 35.8%,respectively.This work is significant for opening a tribological performance enhancement strategy though constructing 3D hybrid architecture.展开更多
The combination of levonorgestrel and quinestrol(EP-1)has been shown to have anti-fertility effects on several wild rodents,but the mechanism underlying these effects is poorly understood.We investigated the effects o...The combination of levonorgestrel and quinestrol(EP-1)has been shown to have anti-fertility effects on several wild rodents,but the mechanism underlying these effects is poorly understood.We investigated the effects of EP-1 and each of its components,levonorgestrel(P)and quinestrol(E),on the fertility of Brandt’s voles(Lasiopodomys brandtii)by using a gastric gavage method.The doses for EP-1,E and P were 1,0.34 and 0.66 mg/kg body weight,respectively.Male voles(n=98)were treated daily for 5 or 14 days,then the testes and epididymides were collected,weighed and examined histologically at 30(D30),60(D60)or 90(D90)days after the end of treatment.Four males were allowed to mate with normal females at D90.Female voles(n=75)were treated for 3 days and a further 3 days after a 7-day interval.The uteri and ovaries were weighed and examined histologically at 15(D15),30(D30)or 75(D75)days after the end of treatment.Each of three females were mated with fertile males at D30 and D75,respectively.Our results indicated that quinestrol(E)significantly decreased the sperm numbers in the testes as well as the weight of the testes and epididymides,with both of these tissues showing obvious structural abnormalities,and significantly reduced the litter size and the pup weight for females mated with males of the E treatment group.For female voles,treatment with E,P or EP-1 resulted in no marked influence on the fertility status.These data indicate that quinestrol(E)alone has a significant anti-fertility effect on male Brandt’s voles,but is ineffective in combination with levonorgestrel(P).展开更多

CaBi_(2)Nb_(2)O_(9) thin film capacitors were fabricated on SrRuO_(3)-buffered Pt(111)/Ti/Si(100)substrates by adopting a two-step fabrication process.This process combines a low-temperature sputtering deposition with...CaBi_(2)Nb_(2)O_(9) thin film capacitors were fabricated on SrRuO_(3)-buffered Pt(111)/Ti/Si(100)substrates by adopting a two-step fabrication process.This process combines a low-temperature sputtering deposition with a rapid thermal annealing(RTA)to inhibit the grain growth,for the purposes of delaying the polarization saturation and reducing the ferroelectric hysteresis.By using this method,CaBi_(2)Nb_(2)O_(9) thin films with uniformly distributed nanograins were obtained,which display a large recyclable energy density Wrec≈69 J/cm^(3) and a high energy efficiencyη≈82.4%.A superior fatigue-resistance(negligible energy performance degradation after 10^(9) charge-discharge cycles)and a good thermal stability(from-170 to 150℃)have also been achieved.This two-step method can be used to prepare other bismuth layer-structured ferroelectric film capacitors with enhanced energy storage performances.展开更多
In this work,a thin zirconium-based UiO-66 membrane was successfully prepared on an alumina hollow fiber tube by flow synthesis,and was used in an attempt to remove p-nitrophenol from water through a nanofiltration pr...In this work,a thin zirconium-based UiO-66 membrane was successfully prepared on an alumina hollow fiber tube by flow synthesis,and was used in an attempt to remove p-nitrophenol from water through a nanofiltration process.Two main factors,including flow rate and synthesis time,were investigated to optimize the conditions for membrane growth.Under optimal synthesis conditions,a thin UiO-66 membrane of approximately 2 um in thickness was fabricated at a flow rate of4 mL.h for 30 h.The p-nitrophenol rejection rate for the as-prepared UiO-66 membrane applied in the removal of p-nitrophenol from water was only 78.1%due to the existence of membrane defects caused by coordinative defects during membrane formation.Post-synthetic modification of the UiO-66 membrane was carried out using organic linkers with the same flow approach to further improve the nanofiltration performance.The result showed that the p-nitrophenol rejection for the post-modified membrane was greatly improved and reached over 95%.Moreover,the post-modified UiO-66 membrane exhibited remarkable long-term operational stability,which is vital for practical application.展开更多
Fertility control is an alternative strategy to traditional culling for the management of rodent pests.Previous studies have demonstrated that quinestrol is a potential contraceptive for male rodents,but the recovery ...Fertility control is an alternative strategy to traditional culling for the management of rodent pests.Previous studies have demonstrated that quinestrol is a potential contraceptive for male rodents,but the recovery of fertility in quinestrol-treated rodents has not been evaluated.This study used C57BL/6J mice to evaluate the recovery rate of male fertility after the administration of quinestrol.Diethylstilbestrol(DES),a non-steroid estrogenic compound,was used for comparison.Different groups of mice were treated with 1 mg/kg quinestrol,1 mg/kg DES,or castor oil separately for 7 days.These mice were then killed on days 8,22 and 50 respectively.Our results indicated that the weight of epididymides and seminal vesicles decreased significantly on days 8 and 22 in quinestrol/DES-treated mice,with extensive histological changes in the seminiferous tubules.Sperm concentrations in the cauda epididymal fluid were significantly reduced on days 8 and 22 in both quinestrol and DES treatment groups and on day 50 for the DES,but not the quinestrol group.Further analysis revealed that DES-treated mice exhibited a higher proportion of abnormal sperm accumulation in the epididymis,indicating that the normal sperm transportation to the cauda epididymis was blocked.Our results indicate that the anti-fertility effects on male mice given quinestrol were of shorter duration than for those receiving DES at the dose of 1 mg/kg body weight.展开更多

文摘CaBi_(2)Nb_(2)O_(9) thin film capacitors were fabricated on SrRuO_(3)-buffered Pt(111)/Ti/Si(100)substrates by adopting a two-step fabrication process.This process combines a low-temperature sputtering deposition with a rapid thermal annealing(RTA)to inhibit the grain growth,for the purposes of delaying the polarization saturation and reducing the ferroelectric hysteresis.By using this method,CaBi_(2)Nb_(2)O_(9) thin films with uniformly distributed nanograins were obtained,which display a large recyclable energy density Wrec≈69 J/cm^(3) and a high energy efficiencyη≈82.4%.A superior fatigue-resistance(negligible energy performance degradation after 10^(9) charge-discharge cycles)and a good thermal stability(from-170 to 150℃)have also been achieved.This two-step method can be used to prepare other bismuth layer-structured ferroelectric film capacitors with enhanced energy storage performances.

文摘In this work,a thin zirconium-based UiO-66 membrane was successfully prepared on an alumina hollow fiber tube by flow synthesis,and was used in an attempt to remove p-nitrophenol from water through a nanofiltration process.Two main factors,including flow rate and synthesis time,were investigated to optimize the conditions for membrane growth.Under optimal synthesis conditions,a thin UiO-66 membrane of approximately 2 um in thickness was fabricated at a flow rate of4 mL.h for 30 h.The p-nitrophenol rejection rate for the as-prepared UiO-66 membrane applied in the removal of p-nitrophenol from water was only 78.1%due to the existence of membrane defects caused by coordinative defects during membrane formation.Post-synthetic modification of the UiO-66 membrane was carried out using organic linkers with the same flow approach to further improve the nanofiltration performance.The result showed that the p-nitrophenol rejection for the post-modified membrane was greatly improved and reached over 95%.Moreover,the post-modified UiO-66 membrane exhibited remarkable long-term operational stability,which is vital for practical application.

文摘Fertility control is an alternative strategy to traditional culling for the management of rodent pests.Previous studies have demonstrated that quinestrol is a potential contraceptive for male rodents,but the recovery of fertility in quinestrol-treated rodents has not been evaluated.This study used C57BL/6J mice to evaluate the recovery rate of male fertility after the administration of quinestrol.Diethylstilbestrol(DES),a non-steroid estrogenic compound,was used for comparison.Different groups of mice were treated with 1 mg/kg quinestrol,1 mg/kg DES,or castor oil separately for 7 days.These mice were then killed on days 8,22 and 50 respectively.Our results indicated that the weight of epididymides and seminal vesicles decreased significantly on days 8 and 22 in quinestrol/DES-treated mice,with extensive histological changes in the seminiferous tubules.Sperm concentrations in the cauda epididymal fluid were significantly reduced on days 8 and 22 in both quinestrol and DES treatment groups and on day 50 for the DES,but not the quinestrol group.Further analysis revealed that DES-treated mice exhibited a higher proportion of abnormal sperm accumulation in the epididymis,indicating that the normal sperm transportation to the cauda epididymis was blocked.Our results indicate that the anti-fertility effects on male mice given quinestrol were of shorter duration than for those receiving DES at the dose of 1 mg/kg body weight.
