To study the anti-diabetic potential of LYT, the present study further investigated the preventive effects and mechanisms of action of LYT administration on diabetes and diabetic nephropathy in high-fat diet plus streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice. Results showed that LYT infusions(1/100 and 1/50, m/V)as drinking fluid for 4 weeks reduced diabetic polydipsia and polyuria, enhanced glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity, and lowered fasting blood glucose level. The underlying mechanisms involve downregulation of gluconeogenesis(lower protein levels of TXNIP and FBP and enzyme activity of FBP), upregulation of lipid catabolism(higher protein levels of CPT-1α and PPARα), downregulation of lipogenesis(lower protein level of SREBP-1), and modification of the structure and abundance of gut microbiota to modulate metabolic homeostasis. Moreover, LYT administration prevented diabetic nephropathy, possibly due to reduced glucose-caused osmotic diuresis and lowered levels of renal PKC-β2, NLRP3 as well as membrane PKC-α, AQP2 and glycosylated AQP2 proteins. Taken together, LYT exhibits the activities in alleviating diabetic symptoms, ameliorating glucose and lipid dysmetabolism and fatty liver, and preventing diabetic nephropathy in diabetic mice. To tackle this issue...Hydrogel electrolyte is especially suitable for solid-state Al-air batteries targeted for various portable applications, which may, however, lead to continuous Al corrosion during battery standby. To tackle this issue, an ethanol gel electrolyte is developed for Al-air battery for the first time in this work, by using KOH as solute and polyethylene oxide as gelling agent. The ethanol gel is found to effectively inhibit Al corrosion compared with the water gel counterpart, leading to stable Al storage. When assembled into an Al-air battery, the ethanol gel electrolyte achieves a much improved discharge lifetime and specific capacity, which are 5.3 and 4.1 times of the water gel electrolyte at 0.1 mA cm^(-2), respectively.By studying the gel properties, it is found that a lower ethanol purity can improve the battery power output, but at the price of decreased discharge efficiency. On the contrary, a higher polymer concentration will decrease the power output, but can bring extra benefit to the discharge efficiency. As for the gel thickness, a moderate value of 1 mm is preferred to balance the power output and energy efficiency. Finally, to cater the increasing market of flexible electronics, a flexible Al-air battery is developed by impregnating the ethanol gel into a paper substrate, which can function normally even under serious deformation or damage.展开更多

However, little attention is paid to their mutual advantages of environmental friendliness, mechanical properties, and stability. Here, we report a super-strong, biodegradable, and washable cellulose-based conductive macrofibers, which is prepared by wet-stretching and wet-twisting bacterial cellulose hydrogel incorporated with carbon nanotubes and polypyrrole. The cellulose-based conductive macrofibers possess high tensile strength of 449 MPa(able to lift 2 kg weights), good electrical conductivity(~ 5.32 S cm^(-1)), and excellent stability(Tensile strength and conductivity only decrease by 6.7% and 8.1% after immersing in water for 1 day). The degradation experiment demonstrates macrofibers can be degraded within 108 h in the cellulase solution. The designed fabric-based TENG from the cellulose-base conductive macrofibers shows a maximum open-circuit voltage of 170 V, short-circuit current of 0.8 μA, and output power at 352 μW, which is capable of powering the commercial electronics by charging the capacitors. More importantly, the fabric-based TENGs can be attached to the human body and work as self-powered sensors to effectively monitor human motions. This study suggests the potential of biodegradable, super-strong, and washable conductive cellulose-based fiber for designing eco-friendly fabric-based TENG for energy harvesting and biomechanical monitoring.展开更多

In this study, CH4 emission fluxes from natural and drained peatlands on the Qinghai- Tibet Plateau, southwest China, were measured from June to October in 2013 using the opaque static chamber technique and the Fast Greenhouse Gas Analyzer (DLT-100, Los Gatos Research Corp.). CH4 emission fluxes ranged from 2.07 to 56.33 mg m^-2 h^-1 in natural peatlands and from 0.02 to 0.42 mg m^-2 h^-1 in drained peatlands. Mean CH4 emission flux was 19.13 mg m^-2 h^-1 in natural peatlands and 0.14 mg m^-2 h^-1 in drained peatlands. These results showed that drainage led to a significant decrease in CH4 emissions. CH4 emission fluxes for all sampling plots were significantly correlated with variation in water table depth for linear (R^2 = 0.453, P 〈 0.01) and exponential functions (R^2 = 0.429, P 〈 0.01).展开更多

The methods of mangrove restoration include ecological projects and restoration-oriented technologies, the latter of which are designed to restore the structure, processes as well as related physical, chemical and biological characteristics of wetlands and to ensure the provision of ecosystem services. As important components of mangrove ecosystem, benthic organisms and crabs play a key role in nutrient cycling. In addition, mangrove restoration, such as vegetation restoration measures, can lead to changes in the benthic faunal communities. This study investigates whether the presence of different mangrove species, age and canopy cover of mangrove communities affect the density of crab burrows. Methods: The Luoyangjiang Estuary, in the southeast of Fujian Province, was selected as our research area. A survey, covering 14 sites, was conducted to investigate the impacts of mangrove restoration on the density of crab burrows in four rehabilitated forests with different stand ages and canopy. Results: It was found that differences in vegetation types had a large impact on crab density and that the density of crab burrows was lower on exposed beaches (non-mangrove) than under mature Kondelio condel, Aegiceros corniculatum and Avicennio morina communities. In general, the amount of leaf litter and debris on mangrove mudfiats was greater than on the beaches as food sources for crabs. Two-factor analysis of variance (ANOVA) shows that changes in mangrove species and age since restoration had different effects on crab burrow density. The effect of canopy cover was highly significant on crab burrow density. Conclusions: The results suggest that in the process of mangrove restoration the combined effects of mangrove stand age, canopy cover and other factors should be taken into account. This study further supports the findings of the future scientific research and practice on mangrove restoration and management measures.展开更多

To explore the synergistic effect of mixed crystalline TiO_2 on gaseous organic-pollutant photocatalytic degradation, we synthesized a series of TiO_2 nanoparticles with controllable phase ratios. We explored the role of the TiO_2 phase ratio on the photocatalytic activity and degradation pathway in the photodegradation of 2-propanol(IPA). We estimated the crystallite size and crystal proportions of anatase and rutile by X-ray diffraction. We used the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller method to calculate the specific surface area and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy to characterize the surface chemistry of the samples. Our results show the photocatalytic activities of pure anatase and the sample with 8.6% rutile to be much better than those of the samples with a phase junction and pure rutile. As such, anatase is the better option for the study of photodegradation design and preparation of gas-phase organic pollutants.展开更多

文摘Conventional Al-air battery has many disadvantages for miniwatt applications, such as the complex water management, bulky electrolyte storage and potential leakage hazard. Moreover, the self-corrosion of Al anode continues even when the electrolyte flow is stopped, leading to great Al waste. To tackle these issues,an innovative cotton-based aluminum-air battery is developed in this study.Instead of flowing alkaline solution, cotton substrate pre-deposited with solid alkaline is used, together with a small water reservoir to continuously wet the cotton and dissolve the alkaline in-situ.In this manner, the battery can be mechanically recharged by replacing the cotton substrate and refilling the water reservoir, while the thick aluminum anode can be reused for tens of times until complete consumption. The cotton substrate shows excellent ability for the storage and transportation of alkaline electrolyte, leading to a high peak power density of 73 mW cm^(-2) and a high specific energy of 930 mW h g^(-1).Moreover,the battery discharge capacity is found to be linear to the loading of pre-deposited alkaline,so that it can be precisely controlled according to the mission profile to avoid Al waste. Finally,a two-cell battery pack with common water reservoir is developed, which can provide a voltage of 2.7 V and a power output of 223.8 mW.With further scaling-up and stacking, this cotton-based Al-air battery system with low cost and high energy density is very promising for recharging miniwatt electronics in the outdoor environment.

文摘Semi-quantum secret sharing(SQSS)is a branch of quantum cryptography which only requires the dealer to have quantum capabilities, reducing the difficulty of protocol implementation. However, the efficiency of the SQSS protocol still needs to be further studied. In this paper,we propose a semi-quantum secret sharing protocol, whose efficiency can approach 100%as the length of message increases. The protocol is based on single particles to reduce the difficulty of resource preparation.Particle reordering,a simple but effective operation,is used in the protocol to improve efficiency and ensure security.Furthermore, our protocol can share specific secrets while most SQSS protocols could not.We also prove that the protocol is secure against common attacks.

文摘Hydrogel electrolyte is especially suitable for solid-state Al-air batteries targeted for various portable applications, which may, however, lead to continuous Al corrosion during battery standby. Finally, to cater the increasing market of flexible electronics, a flexible Al-air battery is developed by impregnating the ethanol gel into a paper substrate, which can function normally even under serious deformation or damage.

文摘Low-cost,flexible and safe battery technology is the key to the widespread usage of wearable electronics, among which the aqueous Al ion battery with water-in-salt electrolyte is a promising candidate. In this work,a flexible aqueous Al ion battery is developed using cellulose paper as substrate. The water-in-salt electrolyte is stored inside the paper, while the electrodes are either printed or attached on the paper surface, leading to a lightweight and thin-film battery prototype.Currently, this battery can tolerate a charge and discharge rate as high as 4 A g^(-1) without losing its storage capacity. The charge voltage is around 2.2 V,while the discharge plateau of 1.6–1.8 V is among the highest in reported aqueous Al ion batteries, together with a high discharge specific capacity of~140 mAh g^(-1).However,due to the water electrolysis side reaction, the faradaic efficiency can only reach 85%with a cycle life of 250 due to the dry out of electrolyte.Benefited from using flexible materials and aqueous electrolyte, this paper-based Al ion battery can tolerate various deformations such as bending, rolling and even puncturing without losing its performance. When two single cells are connected in series, the battery pack can provide a charge voltage of 4.3 V and a discharge plateau as high as 3–3.6 V,which are very close to commercial Li ion batteries.Such a cheap, flexible and safe battery technology may be widely applied in low-cost and large-quantity applications, such as RFID tags, smart packages and wearable biosensors in the future.

文摘Auto-grading,as an instruction tool, could reduce teachers’workload, provide students with instant feedback and support highly personalized learning. Therefore, this topic attracts considerable attentions from researchers recently. To realize the automatic grading of handwritten chemistry assignments, the problem of chemical notations recognition should be solved first. The recent handwritten chemical notations recognition solutions belonging to the end-to-end trainable category suffered fromthe problem of lacking the accurate alignment information between the input and output. They serve the aim of reading notations into electrical devices to better prepare relevant edocuments instead of auto-grading handwritten assignments. To tackle this limitation to enable the auto-grading of handwritten chemistry assignments at a fine-grained level. In this work,we propose a component-detectionbased approach for recognizing off-line handwritten Organic Cyclic Compound Structure Formulas(OCCSFs).Specifically,we define different components of OCCSFs as objects(including graphical objects and text objects),and adopt the deep learning detector to detect them. Then, regarding the detected text objects,we introduce an improved attention-based encoder-decoder model for text recognition. Finally, with these detection results and the geometric relationships of detected objects, this article designs a holistic algorithm for interpreting the spatial structure of handwritten OCCSFs.The proposedmethod is evaluated on a self-collected data set consisting of 3000 samples and achieves promising results.

文摘Recent studies have suggested that long-term application of anti-angiogenic drugs may impair oral mucosal wound healing. This study investigated the effect of sunitinib on oral mucosal healing impairment in mice and the therapeutic potential of Bifidobacterium breve(B.breve).A mouse hard palate mucosal defect model was used to investigate the influence of sunitinib and/or zoledronate on wound healing. The volume and density of the bone under the mucosal defect were assessed by micro-computed tomography(micro-CT).Inflammatory factors were detected by protein microarray analysis and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The senescence and biological functions were tested in oral mucosal stem cells(OMSCs)treated with sunitinib.Ligated loop experiments were used to investigate the effect of oral B.breve.Neutralizing antibody for interleukin-10(IL-10)was used to prove the critical role of IL-10 in the pro-healing process derived from B.breve.Results showed that sunitinib caused oral mucosal wound healing impairment in mice.In vitro, sunitinib induced cellular senescence in OMSCs and affected biological functions such as proliferation, migration, and differentiation.Oral administration of B.breve reduced oral mucosal inflammation and promoted wound healing via intestinal dendritic cells(DCs)-derived IL-10.IL-10 reversed cellular senescence caused by sunitinib in OMSCs,and IL-10 neutralizing antibody blocked the ameliorative effect of B.breve on oral mucosal wound healing under sunitinib treatment conditions. In conclusion, sunitinib induces cellular senescence in OMSCs and causes oral mucosal wound healing impairment and oral administration of B.breve could improve wound healing impairment via intestinal DCs-derived IL-10.

文摘Electronic fibers used to fabricate wearable triboelectric nanogenerator(TENG) for harvesting human mechanical energy have been extensively explored. This study suggests the potential of biodegradable, super-strong, and washable conductive cellulose-based fiber for designing eco-friendly fabric-based TENG for energy harvesting and biomechanical monitoring.

文摘Peatlands are one of the major natural sources of methane (CH4), but the level of CH4 efflux is uncertain, especially in alpine peatlands. CH4 emission fluxes for all sampling plots were significantly correlated with variation in water table depth for linear (R^2 = 0.453, P 〈 0.01) and exponential functions (R^2 = 0.429, P 〈 0.01).

文摘Response surface methodology(RSM)was employed to optimize the control parameters of TiO_(2)/graphene with exposed{001}facets during synthesis, and its enhanced photocatalytic activities were evaluated in the photodegradation of toluene.Experimental results were in good agreement with the predicted results obtained using RSM with a correlation coefficient(R^(2))of 0.9345.When 22.06 mg of graphite oxide(GO)and 2.09 mL of hydrofluoric acid(HF)were added and a hydrothermal time of 28 h was used,a maximum efficiency in the degradation of toluene was achieved.X-ray diffraction(XRD),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)were employed to characterize the obtained hybrid photocatalyst. The electron transferred between Ti and C retarded the combination of electron–hole pairs and hastened the transferring of electrons, which enhanced the photocatalytic activity.

文摘Background: Mangrove restoration seeks to restore or rebuild degraded mangrove systems. This study further supports the findings of the future scientific research and practice on mangrove restoration and management measures.

文摘The present study aimed at investigating the relationship between tablet hardness and homogeneity of different Yinhuang dispersible tablets by near-infrared chemical imaging(NIR-CI)technology.The regularity of best hardness was founded between tablet hardness and the spatial distribution uniformity of Yinhuang dispersible tablets. The ingredients homogeneity of Yinhuang dispersible tablets could be spatially determined using basic analysis of correlation between analysis(BACRA)method and binary image. Then different hardnesses of Yinhuang dispersible tablets were measured. Finally, the regularity between tablet hardness and the spatial distribution uniformity of Yinhuang dispersible tablets was illuminated by quantifying the agglomerate of polyvinyl poly pyrrolidone(PVPP).The result demonstrated that the distribution of PVPP was unstable when the hardness was too large or too small, while the agglomerate of PVPP was smaller and more stable when the best tablet hardness was 75 N.This paper provided a novel methodology for selecting the best hardness in the tabletting process of Chinese Medicine Tablet.

文摘The crystal form of TiO_2 is a crucial focus of research on the photocatalytic degradation of gaseous pollutants by TiO_2-based composite photocatalysts. As such, anatase is the better option for the study of photodegradation design and preparation of gas-phase organic pollutants.
