A kinetic model for predicting shelf-life of fresh extruded rice-shaped kernels(FER)

Fresh extruded rice-shaped kernels(FER) are remoulded rice products from cereals or seed flours, which have the advantages of safety, nutrition, health and time saving. However, the finished products are easy to react with oxygen, so it is necessary to develop a fast, simple and reliable approach to monitor and predict the shelf-life of FER. A comprehensive mathematical model of FER shelf-life prediction was developed using a dynamic modelling approach based on real supply chain conditions. This predictive model was developed to determine four key indexes including acid value, iodine blue value, water uptake ratio and peroxide value. The results showed that when the peroxide value was 1.6849, the FER lost its edible value, nutritional value and commodity value. Moreover, the acid value and peroxide value of FER were used to establish a first-order kinetic model, and the iodine blue value of FER was suited for a zero-order kinetic model. The validation experiment of predicted and measured shelf life showed that the relative error was 3.12%, which was less than 5%. Therefore, this kinetic model could be used to predict the shelf-life of FER quickly and conveniently. The kinetic-based shelf-life prediction model proposed in this study is rapid and practical, providing theoretical basis and guidance for the establishment of quality monitoring and quality evaluation systems of FER during the production, storage, transport and marketing. 展开更多

To achieve the collision-free trajectory tracking of the four-wheeled mobile robot(FMR),existing methods resolve the tracking control and obstacle avoidance separately.Guaranteeing the synergistic robustness and smooth navigation of mobile robots subjected to motion uncertainties in a dynamic environment using this non-cooperative processing method is difficult.To address this challenge,this paper proposes an obstacle-circumventing adaptive control(OCAC)framework.Specifically,a novel anti-disturbance terminal slide mode control with adaptive gains is formulated,incorporating specified control laws for different stages.This formulation guarantees rapid convergence and simultaneous chattering elimination.By introducing sub-target points,a new sub-target dynamic tracking regression obstacle avoidance strategy is presented to transfer the obstacle avoidance problem into a dynamic tracking one,thereby reducing the burden of local path searching while ensuring system stability during obstacle circumvention.Comparative experiments demonstrate that the proposed OCAC method can strengthen the convergence and obstacle avoidance efficiency of the concerned FMR system. 展开更多

Subgroup J avian leukosis virus(ALV-J) is a highly oncogenic retrovirus that has been devastating the global poultry industry since the late 1990s. The major infection model of ALV-J is vertical transmission, which is responsible for the congenital infection of progeny from generation to generation. Increasing evidence has suggested that extracellular vesicles(EVs) derived from virus-infected cells or biological fluids have been thought to be vehicles of transmission for viruses. However, the role of EVs in infection and transmission of ALV-J remains obscure. In the present study, semen extracellular vesicles(SE) were isolated and purified from ALV-J-infected rooster seminal plasma(SE-ALV-J), which was shown to contain ALV-J genomic RNA and partial viral proteins, as determined by RNA sequencing, reverse transcription-quantitative PCR and Western blotting. Furthermore, SE-ALV-J was proved to be able to transmit ALV-J infection to host cells and establish productive infection.More importantly, artificial insemination experiments showed that SE-ALV-J transmitted ALV-J infection to SPF hens, and subsequently mediated vertical transmission of ALV-J from the SPF hens to the progeny chicks. Taken together, the results of the present study suggested that ALV-J utilized host semen extracellular vesicles as a novel means for vertical transmission, enhancing our understanding on mechanisms underlying ALV-J transmission. 展开更多
