Fiber productivity and quality of cotton are severely affected by abiotic stresses.In this study,we identified the role of GhADF1,an actin depolymerizing factor,in cotton response to drought stress.GhADF1 expression in cotton could be induced by PEG6000.GhADF1-RNAi transgenic cotton showed increased tolerance to drought stress during seed germination and seedling development as well as at the reproductive stage.In contrast,overexpression of GhADF1 led to a drought-sensitive phenotype in transgenic plants.GhADF1-RNAi plants produced an enlarged root system with longer primary roots,more lateral roots,increased root dry biomass,and increased cell size.In leaves of GhADF1-RNAi cotton,proline content and activities of reactive oxygen species-scavenging enzymes were increased following drought stress compared with those in wild type.GhADF1-RNAi lines showed higher water-use efficiency than the wild type,accompanied by reduced leaf stomatal density and conductance.GhADF1-RNAi cotton produced higher fiber yield in the field under both normal and drought conditions.Transcriptomic analyses identified 124 differentially expressed genes in leaves of GhADF1-RNAi lines compared with the wild type following drought treatment.Upregulated genes included those encoding transcription factors,protein kinases,heat shock proteins,and other proteins known to be involved in stress responses.We conclude that GhADF1 reduces the expression of abiotic stress-associated genes in cotton response to drought stress and may be a promising candidate gene for crop improvement by genetic manipulation. 展开更多

To measure the security for hot searched reversible data hiding(RDH)technique,especially for the common-used histogram-shifting based RDH(denoted as HS-RDH),several steganalysis schemes are designed to detect whether some secret data has been hidden in a normal-looking image.However,conventional steganalysis schemes focused on the previous RDH algorithms,i.e.,some early spatial/pixel domain-based histogram-shifting(HS)schemes,which might cause great changes in statistical characteristics and thus be easy to be detected.For recent improved methods,such as some adaptive prediction error(PE)based embedding schemes,those conventional schemes might be invalid,since those adaptive embedding mechanism would effectively reduce the embedding trace and thus increase the difficulty of steganalysis.Therefore,a novel steganalysis method is proposed in this paper to detect recent adaptive RDH schemes and provide a more effective detection tool for RDH.The contributions of this paper could be summarized as follows.(1)By analyzing the characteristics for those adaptive HS-RDH,an effective“flat ground”based detection method is designed to fast identify whether the given image is used to hide secret data;(2)According to the empirical statistical model,double check mechanism is provided to improve the detection accuracy;(3)In addition,to further improve detection ability,some detailed information for secret data,i.e.,its content and embedding location are further estimated.Compared with conventional steganalysis methods,experimental results indicate that our proposed algorithm could achieve a better detection accuracy and meanwhile acquire more detailed information on secret data. 展开更多

Glycerol oxidation reaction(GOR)coupled with hydrogen generation simultaneously is a promising strategy for developing sustainable energy conversion technologies,but the complexity of glycerol oxidation products and the high coupling hydrogen evolution potential limit its wide application.In this paper,a self-supported high-entropy selenide electrode can be fabricated via a simple hydrothermal process.Then,the prepared electrode as an advanced catalyst displays optimal catalytic activity(1.20 V at 10 mA·cm^(−2))and high selectivity for the formation of formate in GOR.The results show that the lattice distortion effect of high entropy materials composed of multiple elements is mainly responsible for the greatly improved catalytic activity and selectivity for GOR.Moreover,an advanced alkali-acid hybrid electrolytic cell was assembled that enables efficient energy-saving hydrogen generation and GOR simultaneously.Herein,the electrolyzer requires only 0.5 V applied voltage to reach 10 mA·cm^(−2) for hydrogen generation and maintains long-term operation stability. 展开更多
