Bacteria play a major role in metabolizing ammonia and other metabolites in recirculating aquaculture systems(RASs).To characterize and compare the bacterial communities in the biofilters of two full-scale RASs for th...Bacteria play a major role in metabolizing ammonia and other metabolites in recirculating aquaculture systems(RASs).To characterize and compare the bacterial communities in the biofilters of two full-scale RASs for the culture of puffer fish,Takifugu rubripes,at different ages and densities were studied.In overall,47807 optimized reads of the 16 S rRNA gene with V4-V5 region were obtained from four biofilm samples collected after biofilm maturation.At 97%cut-off level,these sequences were clustered into 500 operational taxonomic units,and were classified into 19 bacterial phyla and 138 genera.At the phylum level,Proteobacteria and Bacteroidetes were the most abundant,followed by Nitrospirae and Planctomycetes.At the genus level,Colwellia,Marinifilum,Oceanospirillum,Lutibacter,Winogradskyella,Pseudoalteromonas,Arcobacter,and Phaeobacter were the top members.Nitrosomonas and Nitrospira were main ammonia-and nitrite-oxidizing bacteria.Differences in bacterial communities at different sampling dates and similarities of both biofilters were revealed in the Venn diagram and cluster analysis.Maintaining a good water quality and health offarmed fish in RASs depended on the correct management of the bacterial communities.This study provides more accurate information on the bacterial communities associated with the bifilters of both RASs.展开更多
The photosensitizer(PS)as photodynamic therapy(PDT)agent,can also serve as the contrast agent for dual-modalffuorescence imaging(FLI)and photoacoustic imaging(PAI)for precise cancer theranostics.In this study,the PAI ...The photosensitizer(PS)as photodynamic therapy(PDT)agent,can also serve as the contrast agent for dual-modalffuorescence imaging(FLI)and photoacoustic imaging(PAI)for precise cancer theranostics.In this study,the PAI capability of commercial PS,benzoporphyrin derivative monoacid ring-A(BPD)were examined and compared with that from the other PSs and dyes such as TPPS_(4),Cy5 dye and ICG.We discovered that BPD exhibited its advantage as contrast agent for PAI.Meanwhile,BPD can also serve as the contrast agent for enhanced FLI.In particular,the PEGylated nanoliposome(PNL)encapsulated BPD(LBPD)was produced for contrast enhanced dual-modal FLI and PAI and imaging-guided high-efficiency PDT.Enhanced FLI and PAI results demonstrated the significant accumulation of LBPD both within and among individual tumor during 24 h monitoring for in vivo experiment tests.In-vitro and in-vivo PDT tests were also performed,which showed that LBPD have higher PDT efficiency and can easily break the blood vessel of tumor tissues as compared to that from BPD.It was discovered that LBPD has great potentials as a diagnosis and treatment agent for dual-modal FLI and PAI-guided PDT of cancer.展开更多
OBJECTIVE:To observe the effect of Rupifang Extract in external use on expression of proto-oncogenes her2 and tumor suppression genes p16 in rat breast tissues of mammary hyperplasia model.To explore the mechanisms of...OBJECTIVE:To observe the effect of Rupifang Extract in external use on expression of proto-oncogenes her2 and tumor suppression genes p16 in rat breast tissues of mammary hyperplasia model.To explore the mechanisms of Rupifang Extract in external use for preventing and treating mammary hyperplasia.METHODS:Thirty virginal female Wistar rats were randomized into 5 groups,6 in each,A:blank control group;B:model group;C:the low dose group of Rupifang;D:the middle dose group of Rupifang;and E:The high dose group of Rupifang.The mammary hyperplasia rat models were produced by injecting estradiol benzoate and progesterone and irritating by tail nipping.Drug intervention was also launched during the model formation.After 30 days,the expression of her2 and p16 in breast tissues of rats in each group were detected by the SP immunohistochemical method.RESULTS:Compared with Blank control group,the expression of her2 in breast tissues in Model group was higher,and the expression of p16 was lower(P<0.05 or P<0.01).After intervention with Rupifang Extract,compared with Model group,the expression of her2 in breast tissues in Rupifang groups was lower,and the expression of p16 higher(P<0.05 or P<0.01).CONCLUSION:The mechanisms of Rupifang Extract in external application for preventing and treating mammary hyperplasia may be reducing the expression of proto-oncogenes her2 and increasing the expression of tumor suppression genes p16.展开更多
In this paper,we consider the numerical solutions of the semilinear Riesz space-fractional diffusion equations(RSFDEs)with time delay,which constitute an important class of differential equations of practical signific...In this paper,we consider the numerical solutions of the semilinear Riesz space-fractional diffusion equations(RSFDEs)with time delay,which constitute an important class of differential equations of practical significance.We develop a novel implicit alternating direction method that can effectively and efficiently tackle the RSFDEs in both two and three dimensions.The numerical method is proved to be uniquely solvable,stable and convergent with second order accuracy in both space and time.Numerical results are presented to verify the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed numerical scheme.展开更多
As a hybrid imaging technique, photoacoustic imaging (PAI) can provide multiscale morphological information of tissues, and the use of multi-spectral PAI (MSPAI) can recover the spatial distribution of chromophore...As a hybrid imaging technique, photoacoustic imaging (PAI) can provide multiscale morphological information of tissues, and the use of multi-spectral PAI (MSPAI) can recover the spatial distribution of chromophores of interest, such as hemoglobin within tissues. Herein, we developed a contrast agent that can very effectively combine multiscale PAI with MSPAI for a more comprehensive characterization of complex biological tissues. Specifically, we developed novel PIID-DTBT based semi-conducting polymer dots (Pdots) that show broad and strong optical absorption in the visible-light region (500-700 nm). The performances of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) and gold nanorods (GNRs), which have been verified as excellent photoacoustic contrast agents, were compared with that of the Pdots based on the multiscale PAI system. Both ex vivo and in vivo experiments demonstrated that the Pdots have better photoacoustic conversion efficiency at 532 nm than GNPs and showed similar photoacoustic performance with GNRs at 700 nm at the same mass concentration. Photostability and toxicity tests demonstrated that the Pdots are photostable and biocompatible. More importantly, an in vivo MSPAI experiment indicated that the Pdots have better photoacoustic performance than the blood and therefore the signals can be accurately extracted from the background of vascular-rich tissues. Our work demonstrates the great potential of Pdots as highly effective contrast agents for the precise localization of lesions relative to the blood vessels based on multiscale PAI and MSPAI.展开更多
