采用中国中西部地区(2l°~36°N,98°~112°E)193个地震台在1992~1999年间记录到的9988次地震的Pg和Sg震相走时的读数资料,用Roecker的SPHYPIT90程序,反演了该地区三维地壳P波速度结构,并用SPHREL3D90程序进行... 采用中国中西部地区(2l°~36°N,98°~112°E)193个地震台在1992~1999年间记录到的9988次地震的Pg和Sg震相走时的读数资料,用Roecker的SPHYPIT90程序,反演了该地区三维地壳P波速度结构,并用SPHREL3D90程序进行了地震的重新定位.反演结果揭示了中国中西部地区地震P波速度结构明显的横向不均匀性,这些不同深度上波速的横向变化多以该地区的活动断裂为分界线.可以看出活动断裂两侧存在明显的速度反差.通过重新定位,得到了6459次地震的震源参数,这些精确定位的地震震中明显沿该区活动断裂呈现条带状分布,其范围和尺度清晰地表示了这一地区地震活动与活动断裂的紧密关系.其中,82%重新精确定位的事件的震源深度在20km以内.这一结果与笔者用双差地震定位法得到的重新定位的震源深度分布相一致. 展开更多

The inversion results show that it is a bilateral rupture event with an average rupture velocity less than 2.0 km/s along the fault strike direction. The source rupture process consists of three sub-events, the first oc- curred near the hypocenter and the rest two ruptured along the up-dip direction and broke the sea bed, causing a maximum slip of about 30 m. The large-scale sea bed breakage may account for the tremendous tsunami disaster which resulted in most of the death and missing in this mega earthquake. 展开更多

We retrieve and use the apparent source time functions (ASTFs) to stabilize the rupture process inversion, aiming to get the rupture process results correctly and quickly. The applications to 22 significant earthquakes occurred between January 2009 and July 2011 show an average inversion time consumed of about four hours, suggesting a high efficiency of this method, which much improves the inversion speed of the rupture process and is helpful in earthquake disaster mitigation and relief. 展开更多

Four results of the rupture process of 14 April 2010 Yushu, Qinghai, earthquake, obtained by inverting the broadband seismic data of Global Seismographic Network (GSN) based on the inversion method of earthquake rupture process, were compared and discussed. It is found that the Yushu earthquake has several basic characteristics as follows: 1 There exist two principal sub-events which correspond to two slip-concentrated patches being located near the hypocenter and to the southeast of the epicenter. The rupture of the slip-concentrated patch to the southeast of the epicenter broke though the ground surface; 2 The peak slip and peak slip-rate are about 2.1 m and 1.1 m/s, respectively, indicating that the Yushu earthquake is an event with large slip-rate on the fault plane; 3 Overall the Yushu earthquake is a unilateral rupture event with the rupture mainly propagating southeastward. The strong focusing of the seismic energy in the southeast of the epicenter due to the "seismic Doppler effect" reasonably accounts for the tremendous damage in the Yushu city. 展开更多

On 28 September 201 & an A4W7.5 earthquake struck Palu, Indonesia, and caused a large number of deaths and economic losses. Seismic moment tensor solutions determined by different institutes consistently suggest that this earthquake is overall a strike-slip event. However, it caused an unexpected large-scale tsunami around the Palu bay area. Commonly, the displacements of hanging wall and foot wall of a strike-slip event are mainly in horizontal directions, and are considerably weak in vertical components. Since vertical deformations are critical for tsunami generations, it is necessary to identify whether the tsunami is related to the source process or not. For this purpose, investigations of the source process are needed [1]. 展开更多
