In-vitro maturation (IVM) of human oocyte is an assisted reproductive technique , which has been used in clinic for more than 10 years since the first report by Cha 1991[1]. Many clinical trials have indicated that IVM technology is not only used to treat infertile women with stubborn polycystic ovarian syn drome (PCOS)[2], to prevent patients from ovarian hyperstimulation syn drome (OHSS)[3],and to rescue the poor developed oocytes in stimu lated cycles , but also to reduce the cost and to avert the side-effects of gonadotropin sti mulation for in-vitro fertilization (IVF). Although there were lots of studies involving to the competence of the immature oocyte from mammalian or human ovar ies to become mature in vitro, the pregnancy rate from IVM is much lower than th at of IVF as reported[4].
