Objective:To investigate the radioactivity levels of seawater,sediments,and biota in the Daya Bay sea area,China,in order to establish the radioactivity baseline values,and provide basic data for the assessment of pot... Objective:To investigate the radioactivity levels of seawater,sediments,and biota in the Daya Bay sea area,China,in order to establish the radioactivity baseline values,and provide basic data for the assessment of potential radiological risks that might result from the application of nuclear technology or human activities.Methods:Samples of seawater,sediments,and biota were collected from the Daya Bay sea area and analyzed.Their radioactivity baseline data were then compared with information from other regions in China and around the world reported in related literature.Results:For the seawater samples,the activity concentrations of natural radionuclide ^(40)K were 9.9-10.4 Bq/L,while ^(238)U,226Ra,^(210)Pb,^(137)Cs,and ^(110)Ag^(m) were below the minimum detectable activity(MDA).Regarding the sediment samples,the activity concentrations of ^(238)U,^(228)Ra,^(226)Ra,^(210)Pb,^(40)K,and ^(137)Cs were 38.1-40.4,49.1-53.7,32.6-38.6,59-95,590-650,and 0.48-0.88 Bq/(kg dry weight),respectively,while ^(110)Agm was below the MDA.For the marine shrimps in the biota samples,the activity concentrations of ^(228)Ra,^(226)Ra,^(40)K,and ^(137)Cs were 1.14-2.75,0.17-0.43,63-76,and 0.038-0.045 Bq/(kg wet weight),respectively,while ^(238)U,^(210)Pb,and ^(110)Agm were all below the MDA.Furthermore,for the marine fishes in the biota samples,the activity concentrations of ^(228)Ra,^(226)Ra,^(210)Pb,^(40)K,and ^(137)Cs were 2.1-19.7,0.32-3.78,<2.2-2.8,59-70,and<0.007-0.026 Bq/(kg wet weight),respectively,while ^(238)U and ^(110)Ag^(m) were all below the MDA.^(228)Ra was found to be concentrated in Osteomugil ophuyseni with 19.7 Bq/(kg wet weight).Conclusions:The radioactivity levels of seawater and marine sediments in the Daya Bay sea area are within the range of the normal background values.Osteomugil ophuyseni exhibited higher concentrations of ^(228)Ra than other species in this study,while the other species in the biota show no significant difference in the radioactivity levels from data in relevant literature. 展开更多

Growth inhibition and cold-acclimation strategies help plants withstand cold stress,which adversely affects growth and survival.PHYTOCHROME B(phyB)regulates plant growth through perceiving both light and ambient temperature signals.However,the mechanism by which phyB mediates the plant response to cold stress remains elusive.Here,we show that the key transcription factors mediating cold acclimation,C-REPEAT BINDING FACTORs(CBFs),interact with PHYTOCHROME-INTERACTING FACTOR 3(PIF3)under cold stress,thus attenuating the mutually assured destruction of PIF3–phyB.Cold-stabilized phyB acts downstream of CBFs to positively regulate freezing tolerance by modulating the expression of stress-responsive and growth-related genes.Consistent with this,phyB mutants exhibited a freezing-sensitive phenotype,whereas phyB-overexpression transgenic plants displayed enhanced freezing tolerance.Further analysis showed that the PIF1,PIF4,and PIF5 proteins,all of which negatively regulate plant freezing tolerance,were destabilized by cold stress in a phytochrome-dependent manner.Collectively,our study reveals that CBFs–PIF3–phyB serves as an important regulatory module for modulating plant response to cold stress. 展开更多

Objective:Network pharmacology combines drug and disease targets with biological information networks based on the integrity and systematicness of the interactions between drugs and disease targets.This study aims to explore the molecular basis of Hanshi Zufei formula for treatment of COVID-19 based on network pharmacology and molecular docking techniques.Methods:Using TCMSP,the chemical constituents and molecular targets of Atractylodis Rhizoma,Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium,Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex,Pogostemonis Herba,Tsaoko Fructus,Ephedrae Herba,Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix,Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens,and Arecae Semen were investigated.The predicted targets of novel coronavirus were screened using the NCBI and Gene Cards databases.To further screen the drug-disease core targets network,the corresponding target proteins were queried using multiple databases(Biogrid,DIP,and HPRD),a protein interaction network graph was constructed,and the network topology was analyzed.The molecular docking studies were also performed between the network’s top 15 compounds and the coronavirus(SARS-Co V-2)3 CL hydrolytic enzyme and angiotensin conversion enzymeⅡ(ACE2).Results:The herb-active ingredient-target network contained nine drugs,86 compounds,and 49 drugdisease targets.Gene ontology(GO)enrichment analysis resulted in 1566 GO items(P<0.05),among which 1438 were biological process items,35 were cell composition items,and 93 were molecular function items.Fourteen signal pathways were obtained by enrichment screening of the KEGG pathway database(P<0.05).The molecular docking results showed that the affinity of the core active compounds with the SARS-CoV-23 CL hydrolase was better than for the other compounds.Conclusion:Several core compounds can regulate multiple signaling pathways by binding with 3 CL hydrolase and ACE2,which might contribute to the treatment of COVID-19. 展开更多
