BACKGROUND The majority of gastric neuroendocrine tumors(G-NENs)are present in various lesions under endoscopy, and they can be polypoid uplifts, submucosal tumors or papules, erosions, and ulcers. The lesions are mostly confined to the mucosal or submucosal layer, usually less than 2 cm,and exclusively localized to the gastric body or fundus. In type 1 G-NENs,about 22%of cases have no visible lesions under an endoscope, and such lesions can only be detected via biopsies(microcar-cinoids).CONCLUSION In the case under study, the patient did not have any visible raised lesions under a gastroscope, and the lesions were found only after a random biopsy. This article combines the endoscopic manifestations and clinical features of the lesions in this case to improve the diagnosis of G-NENs. 展开更多

Obvious pulmonary involvement is exceptional. Tracheal involvement in Crohn's disease is even more unusual, only a few cases have been report-ed to date. We herein report a rare case of tracheobron-chial nodules and pulmonary infiltrates in both lungs as a complication of Crohn's disease. A 42-year-old man underwent pancolectomy for multiple broken colon caused by Crohn's disease. Forty days later pulmonary symptoms and radiologic abnormalities were noted. A search for bacterial (including mycobacteria) and fungal in the repeated sputum proved negative. The treatment consisted of intravenous antimicrobials for one month, but there was no improvement in pyrexia or cough and radiologic abnormalities. Fibreoptic bronchoscopy (FOB) was performed and revealed nodes in the trachea and the right upper lobe opening. Histopathology of tracheo-bronchial nodules and bronchial mucosa biopsy specimen both showed granulomatous inflammation with proliferation of capillaries and inflammatory cells. Oral steroid and salicylazosulfapyridine were commenced and led to marked improvement in symptoms and an almost complete resolution of his chest radiograph. Repeated FOB showed that nodes in the trachea disappeared and the ones in the right upper lobe opening diminished obviously. Crohn's disease can be associated with several respiratory manifestations. The form of tracheal and bronchopulmonary involvement in Crohn's disease is rare and responded well to steroids. 展开更多

Spermatogenesis is a complicated and highly regulated male gamete differentiation process that begins with the proliferation and differentiation of spermatogonia to the release of the mature spermatozoa. The autophagy-related gene atg7 has been reported as closely related to spermatogenesis and communication of Sertoli cell-germ cells in mice, including acrosome biogenesis, sperm flagellum development, and ectoplasmic specialization assembly. However, the function of es-ATG7 and its molecular regulatory mechanism during spermatogenesis in Crustacea remain largely unknown. Here,we cloned and identified es-atg7 from the testes of the Chinese mitten crabs Eriocheir sinensis and found that the expression of es-atg7 was relatively high in testes through semi-quantitative RT-PCR.The dynamic localization of es-ATG7 detected by immunofluorescence may convey information about its role in the spermatogenesis of E.sinensis.Furthermore,a knockdown of es-atg7 revealed that the malformed sperm with irregular sperm shape or loose nuclear cup and germ cell apoptosis were increased significantly.Accompanying this,we found an up-regulated expression of es-p53 during spermatogenesis in es-atg7 knockdown groups.Altogether, our results indicate that es-ATG7 plays an essential role during spermatogenesis of E.sinensis, and we demonstrated that es-ATG7 acts as an antagonist for p53-dependent apoptosis induction in this process. 展开更多
