China’s energy supply heavily relies on coal and China’s coal resource and water resource has a reverse distribution.The problem of water shortages restricts the applications of wet coal beneficiation technologies in drought regions.The present situation highlights the significance and urgency of developing dry beneficiation technologies of coal.Besides,other countries that produce large amounts of coal also encounter serious problem of lack of water for coal beneficiation,such as American,Australia,Canada,South Africa,Turkey and India.Thus,dry coal beneficiation becomes the research hot-points in the field of coal cleaning worldwide in recent years.This paper systematically reviewed the promising research efforts on dry coal beneficiation reported in literature in last 5 years and discussed the progress in developments of dry coal beneficiation worldwide.Finally,we also elaborated the prospects and the challenges of the development of dry coal beneficiation. 展开更多

To improve the separation efficiency of air dense medium fluidized beds tor dry coal preparation, a gasvibro fluidized bed has been proposed in which magnetic powder is used as the heavy medium. Pressure fluctuations in the gas-vibro fluidized bed were investigated using time- and frequency-domain analysis methods. The relationship between pressure fluctuations, bubble behavior, and separation efficiency was established. The low amplitude of the standard deviation, the power spectral density (PSD), the incoherent-output PSD, and the high amplitude of the coherent-output PSD, which corresponds to the bubble behavior in the bed, were improved for coal preparation. The coal ash content was reduced from 42.5570 to 16.54% by using the gas-vibro fluidized bed. 展开更多

An experimental study of the influence of external magnetic field on the fluidization behavior of magnetic pearls was carried out. Magnetic pearls are a magnetic form of iron oxide that mainly consists of Fe2O3 which are recovered from a high-volume power plant fly ash from pulverized coal combustion. Due to its abundance, low price and particular physical and chemical properties, magnetic pearls can be used as a heavy medium for minerals or solid waste dry separation based on density difference. This paper introduces the properties of magnetic pearls and compares the performance of magnetic pearls fluidised bed operation with or without an external magnetic field. Experimental results show that an external magnetic field significantly improves the fluidization performance of magnetic pearls such as uniformity and stability. 展开更多

In a gas-solid separation fluidized bed,mixing of fine coal is necessary to achieve a suitable bed density to enable effective separation of low rank coal.On the basis of a variety of mixture models,a gas-solid separation fluidized bed was judged,where fine coal particles of 0.6-1.0mm were uniformly mixed with magnetite powder.High-speed dynamic camera technology was combined with a slump-sampling method to study the mixing process of the fine coal in the fluidized bed.These results showed that limitations of the fluidized bed structure cause the mixing process to be dominated by lateral diffusion and supplemented by axial diffusion.Axial diffusion was mainly achieved through the ascension of bubbles,whereas lateral diffusion was determined by the bursting action of the gas bubbles at the surface of the bed and the undulating characteristics of the bed.The effective lateral diffusion coefficient increased exponentially with gas velocity but had no strong relationship with the bed height.As the feed point moved toward the center,fine coal began to diffuse to both sides,which shortened the time for the bed density stabilization from 20 to 5 min.The bed density of the layer was stabilized at approximately 1.75 g/cm3.The separation efficiency of the gas-solid separation fluidized bed containing binary mixtures was more obvious for 6-50 mm raw coal,with a probable error E of 0.16. 展开更多
